Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 16: Playful Parasites Pervert Prayer, Perpetuate Plagues

Except for crazies like the Nine, the hero/villain dichotomy is ultimately a political one, and meaningless compared to what will happen if Autobot dies. We're just putting our Resources where our Presence is.
... except for, the para-humans of the ABB (Lung has some honour but would you trus him), a fair number of E88, the Merchants, the S9 as you said, the Fallen, the Teeth, Saints group and Teacher, off the top of my head... other than the Undersiders how many sympathetic criminals have been shown?

I was more curious why nobody really questioned Taylor when she was in clairity.
Sure they went "Weaver are you... Ok?" And Weaver went "AFFIRMITIVE." then that was it.

I thought people would notice how abnormal that behavior was and show a little more concern.

But hey it was after an Endbringer fight so maybe nobody was in a good headspace to figure out Taylor's robo-ness.
I know right?! I was like, come on Battery say something! Or "Does anyone else notice that Weaver is speaking like a robot?"

Even when we left BB no one thinks of even questioning it! Dragon didn't even bat a robotic eye!

It was really confusing when I first read through the quest because it was such a sudden change in demeanor and action thatI'm surprised they didn't place her in Master/Stranger Protocols.

People asked several times, people gave concerned looks several times, we gave at least one explanation for what was going on, we also brushed people off a lot, we were also doing this mid battle, and I think that is when we gave an explanation about what was going, on, sorry busy with other stuff to actualy find references

I wonder if we could figure out a way to Exalt Dragon now that we got to study how she is made? Autochthon can build her a human soul and give her a new body and there is no functional difference between her and normal people since neither of them have souls and our charms already consider her a person. Maybe the path to unchaining Dragon could end in us being able to Exalt her?
Dragon Unchained is actually better than most Exalts. The only Exaltations that would really improve her are the Solaroids, and those are unavailable in this quest.

Well there's Accord and his people. That's one. Faultlline and her people are two. Realistically there would be no shortage of others, but Wildbow doesn't believe in nice things.

But they never did anything about it. It felt like they just kind of shrugged and said, "Welp, I did all I could! Everyone get used to the new emotionless appearing Taylor!"

the other three I understand... but why do you consider having a villian as a member of the Assembly a good idea?
I can't speak for Slamu, but I want a Villain or Rogue next for the simple reason that this arc shows we can't trust the Protectorate with knowledge of our capabilities. A social-fu expert that's not Protectorate-affiliated would be a big help in us not getting fucked sideways by PRT knowledge again.

Depends on if you expand beyond the US. The "villains" in South America, for example, are apparently the good guys of the region, while the "heroes" are actually government enforcers. Of course, going global would largely require Grom to invent characters whole cloth.

About half the Travellers are sympathetic as well, and Marquis would have been a decent choice for an Independent/Villain Taylor, if he wasn't in the Birdcage anyway. We never find out much about the Adepts, but they apparently have a strict no-killing policy. Mockshow flips sides in Canon, and that's about all we see before whoops, Slaughterhouse 9000 and the end of the world.

If you want morally right but still villainous from canon I recommend Blasto. Guy is willing to give up his life to stop Bonesaw cold, and yet is also willing to make a Simiugh clone.

I don't recommend Accord however, his particular psychosis leads readily to over use of Clarity.

Is this about the insecticide?
I would be weird if the PRT didnt create a counter to our abilities, I'm fairly sure they have contingencies in place for every Ward/Protectorate member possibly going villain or being mastered.

Apparently the Undersiders are now Guild sponsored heroes/rogues... so there's that.

Yeah.
In Worm, the majority of heroes are good people, and the majority of the villains are bad people. It sometimes feels otherwise, because the story is told from Taylor's POV, who is a well-intentioned villain whose friends are decent to semi-decent villains, and whose early interactions with heroes mostly involve Armsmaster and Shadow Stalker... but at the end of the day, the majority of villains in the story are no better than real-world criminals, and the majority of heroes are trying to do what's right.
Worm is full of moral grayness, but it's not completely gray.

If we're going global anyway, we should Exalt the legitimate ruler of a recognized state. Dragon-override ftw!

No, the contingencies are good. The keeping absolutely everything we told them on network-accessible computers that Jack could get into is bad. Not malicious, but I see it as a reason for us not to keep them fully in the loop going forward.

What's her power again? I keep getting Ash Beast when I try to remember her.

Giant shadowy monster centered around a skull. Apparently fueled by killing people, and capable of taking on an Endbringer (for a time, at least).

There's also that Khazili(?) Bey from one of the fights against Tohu/Bohu. Extremely powerful aerokinetic, might actually be a ruler of some kind.

Why do people keep wanting to downgrade Dragon to merely be an Alchemical Exalt?
Because people really want Taylor to have an awesome bullshit magical communist robo-mom/big sister? (I agree with you, by the by, but I'd really like to see Dragon have a chance to give Taylor a proper hug.)

That is one upside certainly! Another is that an Alchemical with infrastructure support can do everything Dragon can do and more. She wouldn't lose any capability in the long term but gains significant flexibility in the short term.

No, they really can't. If they could, Autocthonia would be a very different place.
