Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 15: Occluded Orb Obsessively Observes Obscene Operations

So what you're saying is that we should get in there fast to help them before all the drones can take them out? :V

Completely missed this, but...yeah, that's exactly what my point was. It's a little late now, but yeah. I'm mainly replying to this only so that FunkyE can have his smugness rank raise (Lisa would only give it a 2 out of 10 though).

Hmm...too many ideas linked to fancy ammo instead, and a bayonet, while handy, is a bit awkward. Targeting improvements would mostly just compensate for when we don't have a swarm to aim with.

So simple, yet effective ideas without using any exotic tech:
-Variable slot - Allows firing of nearly anything that can fit on the crossbow via an adjustable groove and variable bolt-clip, with auto-pin release for grenades and padded launch system for fragile projectiles.
-Autoloader - Mechanical system automatically recocks the crossbow from stored power and inserts next projectile from magazine.
-Charged stabilizer - Electromagnetic field projector forms a guidance path and an electrically charged bolt will follow it when launched. Adjustments to the field allow for simple arcs in missile trajectories or simply makes it fly straighter/faster/further regardless of conditions.
-Reinforced frame - Additional reinforcement of the frame allows it to be used as a close combat weapon without risk of damage.
-Extendable frame - Crossbow can be anchored to surroundings with stabilizers and the crossbow itself lengthened to allow for a more powerful shot if immobilized(aka Sniper Rifle mode)

Personally favoring Variable Slot of course, we don't need direct firepower so much as we want the ability to dispense throwing weapons, drones or equipment at long range.
Or in less tense times, launch fruit or eggs.

Kali, feet wedged between Plasma Thrusters, combines her powers with Gust's, annihilating any drones still targeting you through the jammer's interference. - [x] Stunt: Bladedancer. Yes? Prepare for rapid insertion. Look, Marmar. You're hot but now isn't the time to...HRNK! You grab Kali and take off in a blaze of light. You jink left and right, the shells from the defensive turrets whizzing by your head as you fly upside down, shielding Kali with you body as you make your approach. The southern wall - your chosen entry point - explodes inward as you rotate in the air, bringing your adamant-clad fist to bare.

cool bonus Tinkertech replacing the Hearthstone socket

seeing as this is an Exceptional weapon we get 3 +1 bonuses, I suggest we upgrade Rate, Speed, and Accuracy.

for cool ideas:
an Ammunition fabricator
Electromagnetic Acceleration Limbs (think Warframes Railgun Bows) that allow for normal, rapid-fire, and a Charged Shot modes

Personally favoring Variable Slot of course, we don't need direct firepower so much as we want the ability to dispense throwing weapons, drones or equipment at long range.
Or in less tense times, launch fruit or eggs.
"Equipment" you say?

Also, good work on the Something Useful ideas, though I haven't been completely sold on any yet (and don't know what a Jaegerbrau is). I'm going to sleep now, be back in ~10 hours, so keep the ideas going!

@Gromweld
For the something useful item:
A more efficient battery design

Boring, yes, but having a longer lasting set of batteries for future iterations of our power armor is a good thing imo. I do like the Hard Light Projector idea, but that is probably too much...

For the crossbow
Exceptional bonuses: +1 Rate, +1 Accuracy, +50 Range Increment
Cool thing: Auto-recocking mechanism.

On the exceptional bonus, normally we can't change rate, but we can change accuracy, damage and range (or defence but seems unlikely that we would take that), speed is not mentioned as changeable. @Gromweld just want to check what you think we can change, hopeing rate can be increased, so that we can have
accuracy, range and rate,(edit with dynamic reaction enhancement system, speed is at four I think)
I hope we get access to Benedictions at some point (in particular oil because that increases rate for a fact)

page 365 of Exalted 2nd ed says that exceptional weapons can change rate.

Exceptional Equipment said:
Exceptional weapons gain three +1s to divide among any of the characteristics that fi ne weapons can improve. They can also raise Rate, but the same characteristic cannot be raised more than once.
edit: nvm I'm too sleepy and miss read your post.
EDIT2: we can boost Rate but not speed(I really liked the speed, rate, accuracy plan but it doesn't actually work) so:
+1 Rate, +1 Accuracy, and +50 range will have to do.

The Jaegerbrau is from Girl Genius. It's a formula that, when administered to people, can temporarily induce life-saving regeneration in tiny doses... or, in normal doses, mutate them into jaegers, unaging orcish super-soldiers (ooooor it can kill you).

I know,

However the only place where it mentions crossbow alterations is there, which is why I am asking @Gromweld.
and I don't see why it matters that Haslanti League can't figureout how to increase the Rate on their crossbows, when the other Crossbows don't list the same deficiency.
EDIT: especially when you factor that most of the Crossbows in Scrolls of the fallen can have a rate of 2 while the one in the main book can't.

Naturally.

Too bad you didn't grab that point of Dodge, though...
As I expected.

Cool Thing can't be ridiculous, and must be designed with the idea that Glenn/Gloria would like it. Also, people are welcome to describe how it looks.
Variable ammo hopper, allowing us to stunt in any plausible comic-book arrow type? Or perhaps it doubles as a stun baton.

WHY do you think I was asking in the first place, for goodness sake, I am trying not to assume everything is going perfectly, and I am asking for clarification from the person whos opinion actually matters why do you think I keep on saying "normally"? If I didn't assume that that possibility existed I wouldn't be asking, but I have one statement which says it isn't

the ones in scroll of the follen races and in the alchemical book (actually has repeating crossbow at a shorter range as well) have the autoloader in cartirdge form, they don't have it naturally, and if they are firing without the cartidge then it has rate one,
