A Brew for the Future
The Thirty Second of Elnu-hamba [Elnu Descendent] Year 1348 A. L. (After Landfall)
Tam's death is still much on your mind, the limitations of Inge's healing also, and so you ask that Ohun brew as much healing tonic as he may in the days to come. Then recalling the doctor's intense interest in sorcery, particularly as he pertains to his own art of healing, you ask if Zaia may observe the brewing. Perhaps he might learn something of use from it...
Alas, the wizard is not best pleased with the notion. His craggy face darkens and his brows lower like storm clouds upon his gaze. "Thinkest thou that this is some common conjuring, three things around the cauldron and a spit for luck?" Seeing you draw back at his sudden ire he softens his tone. "Ah, I forget you are a foreigner and at that one of far realms indeed and know my order not even by distant rumor. Know that what you have asked of me was an affront to vows sworn in the hidden places of the world where the voice of the earth speaks in the hearts of men."
"My apologies, wise one," you hasten to reply, hoping that you had not imperiled the offer he made before, not that you are sure you wish to take it but it is good to have more than one road upon beneath your feet.
"Granted," comes the reply, a soft sigh upon bearded lips. "I am too old as to take lasting offense at an error made in ignorance. Now if there is nothing else I shall..."
"There is one other thing we have found upon our journey into the hills which I would ask counsel upon..." so saying you produce the dagger which you had found in the ruin of the fey tree before you came to the stones, careful not to touch it with your bare hand as you unveil it.
At the sight of it Ohun nods to himself slowly, then from deep within his robes he draws a carved wooden box that much to your surprise is filled with some sort of fat or lard. The scent of crushed pine needles and springtime fills the air as he rubs them on his fingers and picks up the dagger. Perhaps it is a trick of the light, but it almost seems to you that his hands take on the seeming of bird's talons as he does so.
"This weapon would have lead your hand in slaying its killer in turn, but now it is content that they have gone down into the deep water of Ikomi, beaten and broken. The soul of it has faded also, but it is still masterfully made and it will keep an edge better than finest bronze. There is an...
echo a potential of power that a skilled enchanter might make use of, but I know of no such arts. Go thee to the blood smiths of Ibanora or the soul-binders of Oromo if you would make it more than it is."
Gain Masterwork Wyrwood Dagger
Who should wield the odd dagger?
[] Roland, you could use a weapon more discrete than a sword
[] Zaia, if anyone can get any use out a once-magic dagger it is surely he
[] Inge, she has no other weapon than her magic should foes come upon her unbidden

The Thirty Seventh of Elnu-hamba [Elnu Descendent] Year 1348 A. L. (After Landfall)
Thus another hand's count of days passes with repairs to the
Marcella continuing apace and the doctor often at the markets buying supplies for his craft as well as what charts and books of this strange world as can be found on the open market. Hardly the best, Antonio's grumbling makes it clear, but better surely to have some notion of where the currents lead and the coasts and shoals lie than to have none surely.
On the fifth day your payment arrives from Ohun, a great drinking skein of boar's leather worked with the ivory of the beast's tusks. A draft from it, the messenger explains, will heal wounds of the flesh, be they sword stroke or broken bone or even blow to the head, but not souring of the wound or other sickness so you had best drink swift as you can.
Gained Skin of the Boar (x20 Potions of Cure Light Wounds)
Much to your surprise Zaia claims that he and Inge between them have some notion of how you might be able to stretch it with more common medicines. There is something faintly disturbing, beyond all the magic you have thus far witnessed, about the alchemist weighing the substance in brass scales and carefully dripping it into the mouths of rats, upon the gills of dying fish and many more besides. You are not sure what the other inhabitants of the hall think of the sounds that emerge from the doctor's room but you have noticed some of them giving him dark looks... and others offering him the honorific meant for sorcerers.
He does not seem to mind.
Lost 2 Uses of Cure Light Wounds in the experiments
Zaia Levels Up and takes feat Improvisational Healer: When attempting a Heal check that normally requires a healer's kit, you don't take a penalty on the check for not having a healer's kit. When you use a healer's kit, you can augment it with improvised supplies, gaining an additional +2 circumstance bonus on your check. Finally, you can treat any potion of cure light wounds, potion of cure moderate wounds, or potion of cure serious wounds you drink yourself or administer to another character as though its caster level were equal to the number of ranks you have in the Heal skill. The spell's normal limitations apply; for example, a potion of cure light wounds can cure a maximum of 1d8+5 points of damage, even if you have more than 5 ranks in the Heal skill.
Still, it is time and past time perhaps to decide where you go from here. You have gathered a decent bit of treasure, selling all that you did not need of the Imperials' goods as well as buying supplies for a journey by sea, long or short, and according to Hugh the other horses are in about as good a state for another sea journey as they are likely to get. So the question now stands before you, how far do you go and whence do your eyes turn?
[] South to the Inaurna Empire, seen only in dreams to the promise of fame and wealth in one of the greatest realms of the world, if you can untangle the plots of the shadow-weaver
[] East to trade and sell your sword to the cities of the Blue Sea for which the Marcella is most suited to, perhaps you shall ever find wine worth drinking
[] West, though only as far as Korman on business for Ohun who is troubled by some of the news you have brought, he has offered to take you into his service offering payment in gold and the brews of his cauldron
OOC: You would have needed a near crit to convince Ohun to let Zaia watch if you are wondering. Generally magic users in this world do not like to casually share their secrets outside of whatever tradition of apprenticeship they have. If you had taken prestige you would have gotten on offer to serve the king as well.
