I am pleased. I always thought Taylor would be interesting to Demi-Fiend (and thus Lucifer) as someone to formulate a Reason.

Consider in Nocturne he is confronted with hardship, with his friends changing for the worst in hardship. With betrayal born from this. Yet, in the depths of Amala his loyalty is rewarded with Pixie.

So who was the first generation Danny doesn't seem like it and Annette would have been too powerful for a car crash to kill her if she was a Demi-Fiend.

Mid-to-High Tier Demons are more powerful for 99.99% of humans and Eidolon is losing his powers and they can treat city destruction as a Tuesday simply because for some of them its the job.

Mid Level Demons are typically famous for various feats and its were you get into the more powerful and well known gods at. High Level you get more and more Demons now outright need you to attack their weak point because if you don't you're going to have a long fight for little reason.
 
Agreeing with Slacker and Hastur, you are severely underestimating the power of Demons. These are being no human has a chance against due to the grave power disparity, not even the Triumvirate would be able to stand against them.
 
*facepalms* Guys, another generation of something doesn't have to be directly related to the first. The first generation Demi-Fiend is likely the guy who was with Louise. It's just a turn of phrase, not an indication of blood relation.

And I'll bet that guy is none other than Naoki Kashima, the player character from Nocturne. Which raises a hilarious thought. If he still has Uber Pixie with him, why not have her show up when the Endbringers come calling?

No just less than 1% of humans can fight them SMT1 hero could fight them; he had no magic and used demons but Eidolon would not take on Mid-High tier demons easily he'd have a hard time against the higher lvl mid tiers. Alice is a mid-level demon but no one who's ever played any SMT would consider her a match for the Triumvirate; she treats every fight like a game and no player would treat her lightly as an opponent. Alice has powerful dark/curse/death attacks and defenses; Nebiros also a mid-teir demon but he is 'Hell's Greatest Necromancer' anyone that dies near him would just get added to a demonic horde of undead.

Just two mid-tier demons and players get goose bumps having to fight them; high-tier demons like Shiva either resist/nullify/absorb/repel Physical Attacks I can understand Eidolon being able to fight mid-tier demons but not having an easy time due to having a power that says 'I have x power'. Legend would probably have an easier time if his attacks are consider either Gun or Almighty since they'd be non elemental.

Was Triumph legally supposed to search for a new capes identity? This rubbed me the wrong way.
Looking like they have one over on Taylor and are not above lying to her and looking for a way to keep her quiet on SS. And if they do a DNA test on all that gore they may try to blame her for her death.

There are no issues with the grammar or prose. It simply fails to capture a reader's interest in the first one or two thousand words. Frankly, starting off with a Danny and Taylor home argument scene is a pretty good way of minimizing your readership.
You'd probably have more success if you'd started with Sophia getting splattered and then backtracking to how things got to that point. It's a classic introduction to all sorts of books, fics and films for a reason.

I hope that helps with future fics :)
The premise itself seems interesting, though I'm not familiar with SMT.


Also: Is Shadow Stalker too spattered for Triumph to make the connection, did the fight move that far, or did something happen to destroy her corpse entirely offscreen?
I hope this gets addressed in the next chapter or two, because right now it's just confusing.

I agree whole-heartedly that this definitely was not one of my better starting points. I probably could have done a whole lot better, but thanks for the feedback anyway.

Sophia's body is hanging out in the alley as the fight moved out into the open streets. They will eventually find her body.

It's a Wards!Taylor fanfic, which will probably alienate a few readers for understandable reasons. There will be a legit reason for her having to join, though, and her time with the Wards is going to be challenging to say the least given what will happen in the days to come.

You also realize I'm referring to parahumans and bullshit powers against demons, yes? Also, I said that Eidolon could fight mid-to-high tier demons. Would it be easy for him? Fuck no. Would he be near death? Yes. Would he be missing a few organs and maybe a limb or two? I consider that to be lucky.

Also, on what planet is Alice considered a mid-tier demon?! Die for Me is fucking bullshit!!!

What Lazy said. The hooded teen with Louise was the first Demi-fiend and the protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. Taylor is the second Demi-fiend to be created.

You would be correct. Among his party is indeed the tiny powerhouse and his one true waifu, though I'm afraid the Endbringer fight won't happen for a while. At least the ones who try to pick a fight with good ol' Demi.

Less eating, more like subsuming it and managing to worm its way into the Firmament/Shardspace, much less the Network connecting the Shards to Scion. It gives Taylor the added benefit of being able to not only control bugs, but also demons (specifically ones much weaker than herself). It is not a perfect control, however, as strong-willed demons, no matter how weak they are, can fight back against her control.

Of the Wards Taylor fics, that was definitely my favourite.

Alice doesn't always have Die for Me! and she is Mid-Tier because how early you can get her in most SMT games its only Persona that she is High-Tier. Don't get me wrong I still have her in my party in SMT4A at lvl 49 the only other dark user that bests her is Izanami at lvl 82.

Nice beginning, but I abhor the young justice aspect, the wards are full of characters I can't stand.

Guess so. I'll do my best to overcome absolute loathing I have towards the Wards and stick around. Though considering it's SMT - some of them getting messed up is fully expected.

Why does everyone assume it's genetic?

The first generation Demi-fiend is the protagonist of Nocturne. He was originally human until Louise dropped a demonic worm parasite into his eyeball and it drilled itself into his brain.

He is also the most fucking bullshit boss to ever exist in JRPG history.

Plus, I wanted to ask what your favorite ending is in Nocturne. I prefer the Freedom ending.

True Demon Ending. The reasons for which Demi himself will explain when the time comes.

My preferred endings are TDE and Freedom, though I lean more towards TDE as, in spite of how much of a middle finger it is, there's a small consolation prize in that Kagutsuchi is dead and worlds can't be destroyed anymore. Of course, there is the downside of new worlds being born as well.

Uber Pixie is just, the best companion. And I say that despite the fact we don't really get character interaction past the intro with her, everyone who has played or seen the game knows what she's like in all her cool scenes that technically never actually happen. It's a shared off-screen understanding of her coolness.

I suppose mostly it depends on the demon, demons that have high stats but are mostly physical or have basic elements? Not an insurmountable issue for the Triumvirate. The real problems are the ones with more esoteric or unique abilities.

Well, for a start it's not like she can hide her identity. She's not human anymore, kind of stands out, leaves her with not many good options.

Even more so if like other demons her emotions are effected by the moon phases.
