Hmm, it looks like Duck just Mindmerged with his plane. In the first instant, Mobius Four receives the order. In the second instant, his mind follows the well-worn grooves of instruction – to move faster than his opponent can react. In the third instant, he accepts that his opponents can react faster than he can think. In the fourth, he relaxes his fleshly body to become the brain of his airframe. In the span between the fourth and the fifth instant, action comes before thought.
His mind is absent. His flesh registers the weight of denying his set course out of the battlefield. His steel shudders and his body trembles with the heat. He cannot consider his chances of success because he cannot think.
Wohoo! Ribbon lives! But I wonder why the Hunter Killer suddenly retreated, instead of finishing the job. Strider is still far away. Very low operation time?Hunter KillerBut it is too late for Hunter Killer, for now they have thought while Duck acts, and so Duck has two instants. In the first, his mind witnesses the full bloom of a deployed parachute.
~~Reform immediately!~~
Interesting, but not sure why this was put here specifically."Thank you, miss. You've given me a lot to think about," he said. "Should I have the opportunity to talk with you again, I'd like that very much."
I haven't seen him since.
But perhaps the truth was that I was too simple-minded, too narrow-minded to follow the obvious conclusion. What made me think that the conditions for endless war were limited to our world alone?
Question that many in charge have to struggle with.
Perhaps the titular ace hunt was over? The names of these guys mean something. But I wonder why the Hunter Killer suddenly retreated, instead of finishing the job.
I'm not so sure. Mobius One was still alive and previously this guy was more than happy to mock us over letting enemy combatants retreat, and how they weren't going to let threats like Mobius to escape.Perhaps the titular ace hunt was over? The names of these guys mean something.
It's possible that Duck's whole battle zen, act-without-thinking schtick actually made him a threat to them, or at least enough so to frighten them. It may have made him something of a psionic "ghost", and Hunter Killer may be used to relying on their ability to detect their foes' presence with psionics, rather than conventional sensors. Moreover, it would have made Duck immune to a number of psionic powers. So, if they're used to reading minds to predict their foe's next move, Duck's behavior would have thrown them for a loop. If they project an emotional aura, like FGU, that wouldn't work either. Depending on just how zonked he was, it's possible that nothing in the mental category would have worked on him, or not to any extent that would matter. Telekinesis powers are probably the only thing that would still be effective on him.Wohoo! Ribbon lives! But I wonder why the Hunter Killer suddenly retreated, instead of finishing the job. Good thing we have that SAR team on standby"Mobius One has been shot down. We'll send a search and rescue team in as soon as we can. Otherwise...you did your best out there."
"Dismissed."
Damn, Duck is growing up!
Shit. Goddammit, Osea. Though not surprising, considering they withdraw from the XCOM project.Osean Air Defense Force urgent communique.
Orders to withdraw from the XCOM project with all Osean assets and redeploy to the Belkan front.
