[X] Sergeant Arendsen – Fox Battalion gains [Steadfast] attribute. Fox Battalion will have more resistance to panic and psionic incursion.

In the first instant, Mobius Four receives the order. In the second instant, his mind follows the well-worn grooves of instruction – to move faster than his opponent can react. In the third instant, he accepts that his opponents can react faster than he can think. In the fourth, he relaxes his fleshly body to become the brain of his airframe. In the span between the fourth and the fifth instant, action comes before thought.

His mind is absent. His flesh registers the weight of denying his set course out of the battlefield. His steel shudders and his body trembles with the heat. He cannot consider his chances of success because he cannot think.
Hmm, it looks like Duck just Mindmerged with his plane.
Hunter Killer
~~
Reform immediately!~~
But it is too late for Hunter Killer, for now they have thought while Duck acts, and so Duck has two instants. In the first, his mind witnesses the full bloom of a deployed parachute.
Wohoo! Ribbon lives! But I wonder why the Hunter Killer suddenly retreated, instead of finishing the job. Strider is still far away. Very low operation time?
"Thank you, miss. You've given me a lot to think about," he said. "Should I have the opportunity to talk with you again, I'd like that very much."

I haven't seen him since.

But perhaps the truth was that I was too simple-minded, too narrow-minded to follow the obvious conclusion. What made me think that the conditions for endless war were limited to our world alone?
Interesting, but not sure why this was put here specifically.
How does one write a eulogy for the unknown soldier?
Question that many in charge have to struggle with.

Good thing our ground troops are improving.

panic and loss of moral can kill faster then weapons fire.

When the eastern flank began to panic as a result of battlefield losses and what we're hearing is alien attacks, Sergeant Arendsen was able to keep the southern fireteams combat capable under intense stress. Her inspirational leadership ought to be more widely studied.

Perhaps the titular ace hunt was over? The names of these guys mean something.

All aggression in the world won't stop an unit from breaking upon aliens assaulting their minds.

I'm not so sure. Mobius One was still alive and previously this guy was more than happy to mock us over letting enemy combatants retreat, and how they weren't going to let threats like Mobius to escape.

It's possible that Duck's whole battle zen, act-without-thinking schtick actually made him a threat to them, or at least enough so to frighten them. It may have made him something of a psionic "ghost", and Hunter Killer may be used to relying on their ability to detect their foes' presence with psionics, rather than conventional sensors. Moreover, it would have made Duck immune to a number of psionic powers. So, if they're used to reading minds to predict their foe's next move, Duck's behavior would have thrown them for a loop. If they project an emotional aura, like FGU, that wouldn't work either. Depending on just how zonked he was, it's possible that nothing in the mental category would have worked on him, or not to any extent that would matter. Telekinesis powers are probably the only thing that would still be effective on him.

If that's true, Duck needs to start honing that skill with Trigger, pronto. It may very well make him a trump card for our side, if he reaches the point of being able to blank his mind easily and reliably. And Trigger would be the one who could tell us if that's actually what was happening.

Thank god, we haven't lost Ribbons yet. And Duck, he has so much potential. If he can achieve even half of what an ace like Trigger can, we have a hell of an asset.

Crossroads I
It has been a terrible week for Long Caster. The hours have dragged until they became days and then minutes and then seconds, and his existence is the crackling nerves heralding the ragged edge of sleep deprivation. He has pulled together dozens of men for the purpose of sacrificing them to gain combat experience. He has written until his hands and his wrists feel like they cannot sustain themselves, and he is nearly certain that the only thing holding his eyes inside his skull is the bags he carries under them.

But when he returns from 24 hours in the air to personally oversee a disastrous mission by any conventional measure, he finds that there is still no bottom to this week.

Osean Air Defense Force urgent communique.

Orders to withdraw from the XCOM project with all Osean assets and redeploy to the Belkan front.

Here and now, he has to decide where his loyalties lay.

What he fights for.

WARNING: THIS VOTE WILL HAVE MAJOR CONSEQUENCES. DELIBERATION AND REVIEW OF GIVEN PERSPECTIVES IS HEAVILY ENCOURAGED. I WILL PROVIDE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS WITHIN SOME BOUNDS.

[] Nation

Long Caster has always been a patriot. This is why he signed up, and why he agreed to go halfway around the world to fight Osea's enemies. This is just fulfilling his duty.

[] Humanity
Six months of the Erusean Civil War and staring down the end of the world has expanded Long Caster's responsibilities. To be a soldier in this new war is to take up arms for the sake of humanity, and Long Caster will not disappoint.

[] Future
Long Caster orders the forces under his command with a goal: to create a better future. The Lighthouse War witnessed sworn enemies fighting together, arm in arm. If six months can do this to such bitter enemies…is there a fundamental difference between humans and the aliens who exhibit such humanity?

It will be worth it.

"Entrust the future to the next generation" -Pixy

Future sounds way too much of a heel turn. Did we even see any aliens who'd be sympathetic to the human cause?

Are we turning into Strangereal Advent with Future? I'm extremely confused.

Shit. Goddammit, Osea. Though not surprising, considering they withdraw from the XCOM project.

Hmm, I don't really see why he would pick Nation over others, except it might help bringing Osea, or Osean assets to XCOM in the future. Humanity of Future seem more likely options. Humanity seems like it is aiming towards a one world government, where as Future seems to indicate that there's going to be an attempt(?) to work with/understand the aliens. A possibility to switch sides in the future, or working with turncoat aliens?

[X] Humanity

The choice that won't abandon everything we've worked for so far, and the choice that resonates the most with AC7's story of humanity banding together by discarding the artificial boundaries that separate them in favor of acknowledging that they all live under the same, blue sky. I'm sure Trigger and Pixy would approve, and with Mobius out of action for a while, we'll need the support of all our remaining super aces.

Consequences for international support will be dire however, as we're basically saying we'll be keeping all the assets that were supposed to be only loaned to X-Com.

[X] Nation

The choice for a clean slate, a nice change of pace with more limited units and options, but with our own super weapons to back us up. It'll also allow us to dip into the Belkan front directly, which is sorely needed. Osea needs its super aces back since without them, the Belkan front will collapse thanks to alien assistance. If Osea falls, so does the entire continent. Since Erusea is relatively stable now, we could move on and support this front more.

Internationally the best move, since it'll prove that the X-Com project won't steal your assets from you.
