A true hero... in training (Pokemon Gym Leader's apprentice quest)

Since you want to talk about slim chances, there's also the chance she'll beat us in the first round and we learn nothing beyond one, maybe two moves.
The spar isn't about learning new moves, it's about training. We'll be pushing our mon's limits. And learning more about Belle herself. Not her statistics or moves, about the mon and her personality.

I mean one or two of her moves. Also, we know a bit about her already. She has a need to prove herself and desires to grow stronger. She wants recognition and doesn't care for people, just her own training.

Oh, I found a potential tertiary theme for Haru. Or even for Alec.

Hell, this might actually work best for Haru's team.

While I'd like to increase the relationship with Belle, I think it might be best to start the training off with discovering our pokemon's limits, even if that means they're too tired to train the next day. Yes, the spar also tests their limits, but there's no way they can beat Belle right now. I'd like for them to be able to put up a fight. Plus, the spar has the least amount of training effectiveness, compared to the other options.

Haru is there for 2 weeks so maybe start off with the special training and then switch to normal training with Belle? We can then spar with Belle at the end of the first week and see where to go from there.

[X] Sparring match against Belle. Your two pokemon against her. Maylene doesn't expect you too win but it's a good way of testing your pokemon's limits. [Training effectiveness +; Belle relationship ++]. [???] If you win.

Honestly I'd like to go to check in with our friendly neighborhood superhero tomorrow. And I'd also like to try and get another capture in given half a chance.

[X] Normal training with Belle. Training with a stronger pokemon is always a good way of gaining more fighting experience. This will also help Belle learn how to control her strength a bit more. [Training effectiveness ++; Belle relationship +]

our pokes just came from a bad loss. We shouldnt push for another dificult battle so soon. Also this has the side benefit of rehabilitation for Belle.

And would we even want her? The egg is supposedly Normal type. Might be redundant to have two Normal type, Aura or no.

I don't think I even want the bunny, so no biggie.
Would rather push the limits now when its safe and we aren't going anywhere than when we need to travel soon

I think the lot of you that are voting for the special training are ignoring a very important part of the vote.
On a low roll they will be too tired to train the next day.
risking being too tired to train the next day.
That's an argument for doing the special training now. If we do it later and are unlucky, it might throw our plans into disarray. Right now?

You yourself are already considering to skip training tomorrow, which means the tiredness from special training is irrelevant.

That said, I'd like to remind you that "check in with our friendly neighborhood superhero" requires us to call Cynthia first. We are her apprentice, after all, and Akahime is a political rival.

I have been swayed by the arguments made in thread. Plus, I'll never miss a chance to try and get our Pokemon stronger. With that in mind, hopefully going full training in the beginning will let us fight against Belle and win later.

The way I see it, we have a hard time limit in our chance to recruit Belle with the two weeks. Seems pretty prudent to actually have some in depth interaction with her first chance we get so we can make an informed desicion how much effort we want to spend on her going forward, instead of running on semi-blind estimates.

I mean, I can't speak for what Tempest is planning, but Akahime did say she would pay us back for helping Rose by teaching us, which means visiting our friendly neighborhood trainers would not actually be skipping out on training.

On a much more important note, it's good to have tsundere Lily and best boy Fang back. I missed those two.

This one it's been in my list for some time. I just didn't assign it to a character yet. It might work better with a future character.

Speaking of Akahime. I should share something I said yesterday in the discord. She is more or less at the same level of Cynthia. If you end up training with her she can teach your pokemon moves they can't usually learn.

Vote over. Fighting against the Buneary wins.

Because this is combat you can give a general strategy for your pokemon. What to do and how to fight. Remember that your opponent is a lot stronger than your own pokemon. I don't expect you to win, but a good strategy with great rolls might give you a chance.

If you don't remember the combat mechanics (I surely didn't and had to check) you can see them in the Character Sheet.

Plan something and later today I will roll the dice and write.
