So this is cool and all but now that no votes are on the table, is anyone willing to plan with me to fix our attribute penalties from uttermost, not just through temp buffs but permanently? I would be willing to work out an arrangement that is mutually beneficial. Unless it involves passing up on Gardner again assuming we eventually get another shot at it. Just imagine a society enhanced by blood, findross, and magic trees of divine legend.

Why is it so important to you to have it be a permanent rather than a temporary buff? We're going to use the buffs when our stats really matter, ie when in combat, when making important social attacks, etc.

Literally nobody voted for the 2 arete option. And of course The Kaguya won.

On the plus side we're earning arete faster than Rihaku can write up new options to spend it on, so at least for now we're still ahead.

Is it possible for an option to have overwhelming argument power? That would be interesting, since I don't believe any vote in any of Rihaku's quest have had such a situation. At least not without also an overwhelming vote lead.

I think it is natural for people to give arguments for their vote when voting for it, so an overwhelming argument lead generally means there's also somewhat of a vote lead. Also, with no other side to argue with, how many arguments can you really construct in your own favour? At some point you'd be just constructing and then destroying strawmen, no?

The main way to do it would be to make very high quality effortposts that actually convince people to switch and that aren't effectively rebutted, I think

Don't mind me I'm just basking in victory here. Mage Gang finally can put a win on the board! Literally no one voted for the 2 Arete option, and there wasn't even a no-Arete option at all! We have warrior-mage powers now!

The element vote was well fought by all sides and I sympathize with the Inksky and Quickwater supporters. I'm glad Edeldross won though! (I'd have been glad for any of the 7-Arete elements winning, but that's a moot point).

Today has been a good day. I have finally fulfilled my goal for this quest.

Of course, I'm going to go back to fighting viciously for mage-options the next time an opportunity arrives, but that's for Arete generation rather then out of desperation now. Any time I lose I can say "Well, at least we still have Edeldross."

Edeldross only pulled ahead at the very end so there wasn't time. Most of the devil's advocating tends to happening at the beginning of a vote.
I think it is more that the vote was extremely close, Rihaku didn't even know who was leading until he tallied things. He generally only devil's advocates if one option is clearly leading.

i too am looking forward to our panoply of sword graces

You facetiousness cannot ruin my good mood! There will be Graces that have nothing to do with SORD that nonetheless are great for our build, and those will be competitive!

Also, even if we don't get any Graces aside from passive buffs there'll still be Edeldross Surges being cast in combat, Hunger is far too practical to refuse to use a tool in his arsenal!

He also does it less if the argument quality is higher I think? It's mostly meant to stop us from missing stuff, I feel. If we choose and reject things for reasons that check out in-universe then I would expect him to let things run their course to a greater degree.

Feeling a bit too salty about omake power, reactions, vote calculation, etc., for my taste, so I think I'm going to take a break from posting.
No need to respond if you're stepping back, but my sympathies, I know the feeling. In this case the option with the most votes did win, but Edeldross' resurgence after Inksky's strong start stings; at some point I think I argued myself out of liking the former option. But eh, was overdo to lose a vote I was invested in anyway.

OH YEAH WELL WHAT IF WE JUST HAVE HUNGER EAT THE WHOLE EDELDROSS BLAST HIMSELF???

like a man fearlessly emptying an entire can of whipped cream into his mouth

don't think i didn't see that double-post orm

uhh, on that note, any speculation on Catherine mystery box? The most obvious would be new memories involving her, but perhaps there is something more at play.
