Hunger has acquired the Refinement of Battle with the Twofold Enhancement, granting a total of 14x to his net offensive and defensive parameters. With training, this can be improved at about 6x (14x -> 20x) per month. Participating in serious conflicts can catalyze several days' or even weeks' worth of additional growth.
Wut. How?

Well, not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

So, we finally got the thing that Heroic boosted Whiteout synergized so hard with, and on top of that it is doubled.

Our physical attributes exceed an Armament by almost double now. That's some serious shit. Combined with our Rank, Procyon would be ducked if he tried to fight us again.

Someone really wanted that Refinement of Battle huh? That's a lot of power with our current build. Also yay Haeliel's Favor doing its thing!

I kinda like Flight of Falling Stars here, but Build Cleanup would be alright.

Now, the real question: What does Gisena do? She's about to shoot up in power majorly, and her build vote will have more impact then Hunger's at this juncture.

[X] Archsmith's Hammer + Evoker's Panoply
[X] Build Cleanup

Finally fix the holes in our build and unlocks further Blood Advancements. As for Gisena's Graces, I prefer this build purely because it grants our party much needed versatile powers that can open up new ways to solve problems. Plus, I really liked the Evoker's Panoply in the last quest and want to explore what kind of artifacts she can make with Archsmith.

In retrospect considering we just got Refinement of Battle, Exalted Battle Array would have been really good right now, since it gives an 80% discount to persistent Praxis techniques. Oh well, got to pick it up later if we can.

[X] Vanquisher's Grace + Auspice Temporal
[X] Forebear's Blade - Iron Curtain

My Mind isn't made up, but I feel Auspice Temporal is a valuable general multiplier for Gisena, that lets her both research faster and fight at combat relevant speed. Vanquishers Grace gives her semi-combat relevant stats in conjunction with Temporal. Temporal presumably has some minor synergy with her Ring as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if she could improve it's effects pretty fast. Making it a constant effect would be immensely valuable to her.
I'll be waiting on Wolfy's read on this though.

Forebears Blade sounds cool and gives Hunger more defence. But I'll be waiting for Sharkey's opinion on this, he seems to have a solid idea of what a combat build for Hunger should look like.
Also, @Sharkey_smt , a well chosen advancement. It doesn't rely over much on the thread to make it happen, is cool, but also doesn't change Hungers approach so much that it feels like you paid to change the quest your way. As expected of the ultimate capitalist, knowing how to sell your idea is ninety percent of the battle!

Ther versaitliyt of Archsmith's Hammer and Evoker's Panoply is not to be underestimated. So far Gisena's only recourse has been her True Nullity 's anti magic and True Perfecting Blade boosting her physical attributes. The Ring of Artifice is supportive in nature. This option provides a boost to both direct offensive ability and support and crafting.

Build Cleanup because we really need to pick up the low hanging fruit, especially during a rest day. So much good shit are locked behind these low level options.

You know... Since we just got Companions of the King and a doubled Refinement of Battle, our companions are super hard to kill. That is tempting me to go the greed route with Arcsmith build - it was mentioned that with a third Grace, there is a time limit to kill her before she becomes capable of just making an artifact to solve any problem that comes up.

Hm, so, @Rihaku 2 Major and the lesser means '2 of the paired options and one of the remaining, such as Vanquisher's Grace' or do each of the options in the builds count as a Major on their own?

Counterpoint; this scene is the night after Evening Chill. So by the point he gets RoB, Hunger hasn't done always forwards. So, in-universe, Hunger's decision (to the partial and less regimented extent he decides these things) should account for RoB. In conclusion, if RoB gives enough of an impetus the thread vote would shift to EBA, we should be able to swap still!
Though maybe we can't for feasibility reasons.

unrelatedly, I wonder what this was. nameless-sourced Wish? thwarted Apocryphal Proc? Both at once?

Before reading, I'ma guess that Aeira is either going to reveal something about Feat: Orb or somehow remind Hunger of Catherine or something. (Or one of many things about the Realm of Evening we've guessed before, but eh, that's been said already.) (Like the theoretical entry point to the Realm of Evening that some people theorized the Temple of the False Moon might have had.)

Or maybe the Forebear's grave. Again.

Maybe the Forebear's grave on this universe, that is.

"He got me," BrainInAJar said of sharkey_smt's dunk over him. "That f***ing sharkey boomed me."
BrainInAJar added, "He's so good," repeating it four times.
BrainInAJar then said he wanted to add sharkey to the list of posters he works out with this summer.

It was a good social choice. In spite of her gloomy element, she's fun to hang around with. :D

Getting Gisena up to our tier of combat speed is vital, since that means she can participate in combat and we get her portion of Companion of the King buffs. (+10% All Stats/+20% Rank gain per Companion.)

Plus, Auspice Temporal helps escalate her Grace development curve.

Build Cleanup is because Honing is still relevant, since getting it unlocks further Blood Advancements.

Also, our WITS is still close enough to our INT that adding half of it to INT in combat is very useful.

That's like +10 INT in combat!

Exalted Spirit also gives +INT +WIS in addition to its other effects. Never skip brain day!

It's unfortunate that the blade wasn't fixed but overall our gains have resulted in a net positive to our power. Even still we should fix however much of it that we can so I'm going with make whole for the moment.

Refinement of Battle presumably derailed any prospects of getting Gisena to anything but our Pre Refinement of Battle Combat speed.
Refinement of Battle unfortunately doesn't boost combat speed at all. (For that matter it doesn't boost AGI) Rihaku confirmed in Discord earlier on, btw.

Pasting on phone so it's rough.

Huh, it was the Praxis. Well'p, I was totally and completely off-base lol.

What in the heck was that guy?
She frowned, worrying her lip. "It's hard to explain, but it's as if one is the conceptual shadow of the other, and by mastering both you can manifest the technique within twofold... I'm sure of it now. The lyre is the source, a musical encapsulation of meaning, and the actual book is the shadow..."

"There's a Praxis technique inside," Hunger mused, rifling through the pages. "A strong one. That means the most difficult of all training. And here I'd been hoping to relax... Aeira, can you do anything with this book? Integrate it into your Element in some way?"
Interesting. I really would have thought it possible for Aeira to be able to integrate it -- not because of the "the book is a shadow" part, but because of the harp part. Because Threnody -- a gloomy melody.

So I guess the huge boost was with the Exalted Battle Array, then. "*The endurance cost of persistent Praxis techniques is reduced by four-fifths." That's pretty powerful, yeah.

[ ] Build Cleanup - Buy Honing, Iridescence, Exalted Spirit, etc. and spend the remaining picks on Echoes. It's not sexy, but it is relatively good value. However, even something like Iridescence pales in relevance compared to the power of Hunger's Refinement-augmented All-Defeating Stance, so it's not a huge upgrade for him anymore, especially since he also has the upgraded Armor of Midnight.
Let's just get this already. I want to see what taking these fundamental advancements does! Especially Honing, as I think I remember hearing it was supposed to be able to open up a few more Ring advancements? And Exalted Spirit feels similar, too.

The Third Grace improves her scaling curve such that the time limit is relevant, but by itself doesn't make her a peerless artificer.

Refinement of Battle doesn't affect speed!

I wouldn't say Build Cleanup is particularly greedy! It offers more immediate power than something like Iron Curtain, but is likely worse in the long run. Headsman is rather potent here, and has pretty good long term scaling with its % boosts to STR and AGI...
