First of all, why? We can still go and fight so long as we spend some time around Letty, and the Hero isn't too weak to go fight yet. Even if we vote to rest and get back our health if we are able to use our Astral we should beat him down.
Even if it is true that he's grinding, can he really grind that fast in a couple days without a party?
Guys, are you sure it's wise to rely on Pristine Star when you're in danger of potentially being outscaled by a Gamer analogue? You and Letrizia will both be wounded for several days while he's recovering and training!
Last fight we were exhausted and wounded, and he had allies. It was close but we won. I'm skeptical he's a threat.
-To match his combat ability in the last fight he'd need to put together a new team, one that is reasonably powerful and actually capable of working together effectively.
-Last fight our Astral rank was badly depleted, but we still won. Meaning all we have to do is chill and sleep and we'll be powering up an order of magnitude. I really doubt he can power up an order of magnitude in the same time.
-We still have one really good power-up we haven't claimed yet, and it is GETTING IN THE ROBOT. That's what I'm saving Arete for.
I really doubt this guy can put together a new team, pick up an order of magnitude power, and do all that before we can get in the robot. It's possible; like maybe he hires a kill team or gets his hands on something equivalent, then does some super forbidden technique and powers up, all in just a couple days. We have no clue what kind of bullshit this guy has. But I think the risk is low enough that we can wait and save up for GETTING IN THE ROBOT.
Also I just re-read Age and Treachery and realized both groups consist of two sexy women, one machine, and one man, and that in both cases the single man is the most powerful. Lol.
If it is an MMO type gamer, scaling up at maximum speed won't take that long. Esp if our Apocryphal is helping him. Like, have you guys played an MMO? If you're willing to sell your soul play on a 16+ hour schedule you can grind at an unholy speed.

Well, not quite. The gamer asshole's party actually had 3 women, we just killed the first one the instant she came through the portal, so we didn't really get much description of her.
I'd like to remind everyone that if we save Arete here we'd already be a quarter of the way to getting Once and Future. We can't get those extremely shiny EFBs if we don't start saving at some point. Besides, even if the Mire Wolf has acceptable levels of risk to me, it isn't riskless. We could still get rocked. Absolute safety and extra Arete are absolutely worth the single pick.
Not interested in Vanguard because its full benefit only shows up once upped our SL more and the blurb straight up says it doesn't help scale. Also it doesn't heal us. We don't benefit from it's regen. We'd still be just as vulnerable to attrition. It's essentially the same option we've been choosing over and over of getting more power in hopes it outpaces our wounds. We literally can't keep doing this. We voted to Hunt For Healing; how about we get some actual healing, huh?
And what are we supposed to do exactly? The only self-healing options are Pitiless Maw (which doesn't heal Letrizia) and Second Form (which isn't really a heal). Undying Vanguard gets us some extra stats to make up for our injured state I guess.
The second best option for getting ourselves back online while still helping Letrizia would be Offering/Vanguard, which I guess is why you're pushing it so hard. The problem with that is it puts us into Arete debt, which I believe exhausts us again? We just did that and it didn't work out so well.
Arete debt doesn't exhaust you, but it is a fairly punishing condition. Not as bad as Exhausted though. Still, you'd only need to earn 1.5 Arete before the next update to avoid it. Probably less since there have been fanworks since I last updated Arete, and with sufficient discussion you don't even need the fanworks.
I'll admit, the strongest argument for Second Stage to me is specifically that Gamer guy. Imagine his face when it turns out the Hidden Boss that almost wiped his party was actually super wounded in their last fight and has another stage besides.
Super spend build only possible with the tyrant beast! Ultimate waifu pandering with findross options and party buffs! Conceivably possible to get enough arete for before the update!
He's a teleport-spamming Gamer with the ability to launch skyscraper-sized energy blasts that your most powerful current artifact (Evening Sky) could only barely redirect after Gisena had hit it with a focused Nullity. The only reason he left was because his Assess failed against you!

The shading almost makes it looks like her lipstick is smudged, though. I'm not sure if that should be ignored as unintentional, or if someone really should be asking Gisena additional questions about what she was doing while Hunger was unconscious.

wait, why is a significant portion of votes for pristine star + shine bright
it doesn't really make sense to pick star and bright together because then we heal our companions quick but heal ourselves at a mediocre pace, especially considering this is from wolf voters who don't need star for perfect healing
it'd be better to pick second stage to get another hp bar instead

@Rihaku, I would like to seek some clarification in regards to Second Stage; you have said when reverting from the second form back to the original human one, Hunger would be fully healed. You have also said that the second form would not have any of the maimed parts Hunger doesn't currently have (ie arm & eye).
Given that, would "fully healed" include regenerating his missing bits when Hunger returns to his human form again, or would it just mean he's back to whatever his peak condition is in his current state as a maimed individual?
You could switch now to see if it builds momentum and then switch back if it doesn't! That particular option is already quite popular so you wouldn't lose much in the interim.

Mm, the option has no inherent scaling but it can certainly help you level if you use it intelligently. For example - Gisena now has more Protection, Con, and regeneration, so even though you can't heal she can tank and heal herself. Also, the extra Con and Agi would make you much tankier, and you're already very tanky due to Evening Sky. Note that you have a 90% chance to beat the Tyrant Beast despite being Exhausted, having .5 arms, having only 64% of your HP, and no depth perception!
By the way, we are two votes away from a three way tie right now. Expected since Rihaku went for the Devil's Advocacy early this time.
My arguments against Vanguard:
- It still doesn't fucking heal us
- As per the option, doesn't help scale
- Requires more time to social our companions for full effect, time which could be spent grinding instead
- Literally the same thing we've been doing over and over of taking more power in hopes of outpacing our wounds, which got us in this situation
Shine Bright+ Second Stage
- Spends way too much Arete
- Only Second Stage is kind of worth it
- Seriously it's four Arete. That's like a 1/6th of an EFB.
Shine Bright+ Prisitine star
- Shine Bright is not a very good purchase in my opinion, basically. Don't think it's worth the extra pick.

Hunt for Healing is looking for a way to heal Letrizia!
And Undying does help you heal in that it raises your CON and thus your natural healing speed. It also helps you escape attrition in the future because Gisena can tank and heal herself!
If we could rely on our natural healing speed we wouldn't be in this situation. I suspect that won't change even with more Constitution. Even Pristine's guarantee of healing fully in 2 weeks is more reliable in my opinion.
And sigh, people are once again voting for maximum Arete expenditure. Plumed Offering plus Pristine Star answers our needs in a perfectly satisfactory manner while gaining us Arete. We have basically been doing this time and time again where we choose the short-term "cooler" option, while ignoring moderation. We have to stop doubling down sometime. There's no need to put seven Arete down the drain here.

Just recovering our strength and not being fucking exhausted would be a pretty significant and rapid increase in the scale of threat we present. Saving up some Arete for Maw would make us extremely dangerous to Gamer because if we can get in close and start cutting we're likely to heal ourselves faster than he can beat on us.
We were fighting at a small fraction of our effective strength in the last match, so just recovering the full use of the powers we already have represents a major and potentially very rapid upgrade in our capabilities.
