A Matter of Worth (Worm/Mighty Thor, alt-power, DEAD)

That feel when Taylor is thinking more about her school life than about Lung in her face. NOT SURE HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THIS NARRATIVE DIRECTION, HONESTLY. :V

Teachers never tell kids that theyre suspected drug dealers, if on the off chance that the kid is actually a drug dealer then youve warned them and they clean up their act and stop dealing.

WELP. She just outed herself if either the ABB has any sense or some idiot catches this on video and posts it on PHO and Emma/Sophia/Greg see it. *Shakes head* Stupid girl.
Given Lung's state, though, I'm fairly sure he and maybe Tattletale are the only ones who could have caught it. Any security cameras are likely damaged or offline, and any minions have fled or died by now.

A viral video might out her (but might not since her physical form is vastly different and she doesn't fight like a Changer). Lung knowing she has a beef with a woman named Emma, however, tells him very little. Especially since he'd be looking for tall buff blonde women with an enemy named Emma, not mousy stick-thin teenaged girls with brown hair.

She doesn't look like Taylor, she doesn't sound like Taylor, she certainly isn't acting like Taylor, and Emma isn't exactly an uncommon name. So how do you figure that?

Yeah, thinking about it I don't buy the 'outing herself by shouting at Emma' idea.

It's still a bit odd how she's shouting about that while fighting Lung, though. IMO. :V

Also, there's the unwritten rules against outing capes. Which are probably going to be adhered to pretty strictly when they involve someone tough enough to fight Lung one-on-one and consider it fun.

That assumes that Blackwell actually considers there to be a chance Taylor's a dealer, or cares.

Eh... It's not all that different from how Jane was as Thor. Though the drug dealing bit... that's a bit far for me.

I really should just read Worm at this point. Would certainly help in my understanding of all the fanfictions lol.

On a separate note, the unworthy count is at 1. Wonder how high it will get.

Worm is a masterpiece, but the trigger warning Wildbow placed at the very beginning is not unfounded. if you are particularly empathetic, you might end up with misty eyes or more in the first few chapters, then straight up bawl when the tone gets more serious.
All in all, a feel trip that's on par, if not better, than the Life is Strange franchise.

On another note, couldn't Taylor just force Lung into a spread eagle position then stick Mjolnir onto his chest, therefore pinning him down until she removes it? It would paint a comical, if effective, method of containing her targets.
...wait, if that works, she can contain the Endbringers too, right? Or *Spoilers!* does Mjolnir's effect not work on great big crystallized lumps of energy taking physical form?

I would laugh if this somehow outed her and Sophia decided to try and pick a fight with the motherlovin' God of Thunder. Or Emma's oh shit face when she realizes what Taylor's become.

But...those are petty revenge fantasies, driven by the metric ton of crap that Taylor goes through in any given story. There are other, better, ways this story can go.

Another thing to note. I'm pretty sure cops in Earth Bet have forensic equipment. Even if Sophia snuck drugs into Taylor's locker, Taylor hasn't been using it and the evidence would show that.
Not just that, but holy shit if Taylor just had the insight to take that accusation to the right people...

I understand Taylor is so sub-functional that she can't see a logical way to get away from the BS from school (just fucking drop out- easy as fuck), however in this setting, she clearly has another outlet, one that boosts her self-esteem and theoretically should allow her to see her situation with clearer, more rational lenses- one that would let her make a smart choice with her life.

So I am hoping we see her drop out or deal with her problem permanently. Taylor is not stupid and being worthy of Mjolnir does not mean that she suddenly has the problem solving ability of pre-banishment Thor.

I like it, but Taylor's school life has degraded so badly that it eclipses the canon. That ain't good.

What is your purpose of showing us how bad Taylor's school life is? Is it to torture her into becoming Skitter with Thor's powerset?
I have a feeling it's going to recreate the first Thor movie.

Where Taylor loses her worthiness.

Her being Taylor though, she'll schedule out a week of moping before setting out to redeem herself and shooting the world in the balls with lightning once she redeems herself.

Hah, I wonder if she'll go all wide-eyed if one of Dragon's suits actually manage to move the hammer by a tiny bit, like in that movie scene. Assuming our dear author Overlord writes something like that or makes an omake. Totally not a hint at something :D

I'm assuming Sophia can control aspects of her power, so she could just grab a baggie of cocaine or heroin or whatever you young'uns are using nowadays and phase through Taylor's locker door then dump it and phase back without leaving DNA for forensic scientists behind.
Although, if the skin cells of Taylor aren't there since she apparently hasn't used her locker for a heck of a long time (justifiably) it might raise the correct suspicions... if Blackwell wasn't a complete douche and had a moral compass that wasn't worse than Regent's.
