A Matter of Worth (Worm/Mighty Thor, alt-power, DEAD)

"Ladies, gentlemen. We all know how dangerous this new threat to Empire." Kaiser put image of new heroine on the screen and assembled capes recoiled in fear. Menja nervously clutched her spear, Victor paled, Hookwolf tried to hide under the table, Rune started to whimper.
They say 'if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail'. Well, Empire's capes had several opportunities already to determine how true was that saying and how painful were hammer blows.
"But fear not, for I have a plan!" Kaiser raised his voice.
"Your previous plan cost us Stormtiger and Alabaster. Are you sure new plan is better?" Victor asked.
"Yes, for I don't plan to fight her." That phrase immediately got everybody's attention. "We treat her like a normal hero, enemy who should be crushed, but she's more like a force of nature, unbeatable and unpredictable." Kaiser explained. "In this regard she resembles Scion."
"And comparison with the most powerful parahuman of the world should make us feel better?" Rune quietly asked.
Kaiser ignored her. "Apparently, just like Scion, she makes no distinction between different 'heroical' deeds. Two days ago she defeated Lung, but yesterday our people saw her saving a cat from a tree. So, we'll not fight her. We'll just distract her from our operations. Hookwolf, Victor! Tomorrow we will attack ABB. Others, your task will be to create innumerable opportunities for heroism on the other side of the city!"

"You shall not pass!" Rune declared.
Mrs. Brennan worked most of her life as a teacher and was old enough to remember the War. Neither unruly teenagers nor Neo-Nazi scared her. Still, it was a first time when she had faced actual villain.
"And why you are trying to stop me?" she asked. "Don't you have more important business than harassing of elders? People to beat, banks to rob, heroes to fight?"
"It's important! Kaiser himself ordered me to stop you!"
"Kaiser ordered you to stop me?" Mrs. Brennan asked dubiously. "Since when my grocery shopping became so dangerous for Empire?"
"It's not like..." Rune shook her head. "Listen, just stay here and wait until someone come and help you to cross the street, okay?"
The old woman opened her mouth to answer, but in that moment Menja came from a corner. She was about fifteen feet tall and kept in her hand big bag. Desperate meowling was coming from it.
The giant villainess ran to the nearest tree, shoved her hand into the bag, pulled out a cat and threw it on the tree. Then she ran to the next tree and repeated her actions. Soon, every tree on the street had a bewildered cat or two on it.
Mrs. Brennan perplexedly looked around and cautiously asked, "That was ordered by Kaiser too?"
Rune dubiously nodded. Before this moment she didn't realize how their actions looked from the outside.
Old teacher sighed. "Girl, you should really reconsider your career choice."
In that moment Rune's cell phone rang.
"Yes?"
"Operation is ended. We lost." Kaiser's voice said tiredly.
"What? How?"
"At first all was good, but then Bakuda's jeep drove into a ditch. And she came to help with it."
"Shit." The teenager sighed. "So, now what?"
"Return to base. And don't worry, for I have a new plan! We..."
Rune turned off her phone and threw it away. "Yeah, juvie is better than this shit."
She headed towards the PRT headquarters.
Look on the bright side,

You won't be going to Juvie. You'll join the Wards.

And the PRT may suck balls.

BUt the Wards rec room?

Holy shit that rec room wrecks all the other rec rooms.
Philosophysics threw 6 6-faced dice. Total: 20
6 6 2 2 1 1 3 3 2 2 6 6

Okay but now I want to see Cauldron's reaction to realizing that all the sacrifices they made, and every horrible act they ever committed, were all pointless because a supremely powerful cosmic being wanted something to beat up to take his mind off of his own problems and Scion was convenient.

This too would be highly amusing.

Top it off by grinding the heal (and hate boner) in with Loki whispering in their ears "How will you live with yourself in the knowledge that all you strove for, all that you have sacrificed was for nothing? Your only accomplishment being the staining of your soul, to the point that your only reward will be Helas not so tender mercies in death."

Wouldn't they be thrilled?

I mean sure, they'd probably be bemused and probably a little bit wary of even more Inscrutable Alien Gods, but they're not exactly picky about how the world is saved, at least if canon is any indication.

More seriously, it's probably because capes who weild physical objects bearing fantastic properties usually are tinkers. Folks like Dauntless and Chevalier (and, to a lesser extent because she can't do tinker guns/ammo, Miss Militia) seem like the exceptions to that general rule.
And Brandish, and Flechette/Foil and Jack Slash apply their powers to/through weapons, and while Myrrdin's staff is probably irrelevant to his power he plays it up as being used in his power...
Granted, a non-tinkertech object giving powers to its wielder (as opposed to the other way around) is pretty much unheard of. That said I don't think that there's much in the way of tinkertech objects giving powers to their wielders either. Closest I can think of is Lab Rat's serums, but I don't think that really counts.

While I too love Marvel, I feel you are overestimating thor's powers.

Brute 7-8 might be applicable (Alexandria was 8 and she is more durable than thor) though in strength you may be correct (though again I think hulk beats thor in this so probably still an 8)
Blaster 5-8 Is an option, Thor's lightning while powerful, is not capable of destroying cities.
Thor doesn't have a striker rating, his/her hammer is brute.
Shaker 6-8 for the weather control. (Mainly cos it can be called down anytime, anywhere)

So still an extremely powerful grab-bag cape, but she can still be defeated under the right circumstances by other capes.
I'm getting tired of people calling Alexandria durable. She is not durable. She is immovable. Her everything cannot be moved or affected by outside forces, with a handful of exceptions. Durability implies resistance that can and will fail eventually.

She is absolutely not immovable. We see things grab her and throw her around all the time; aside from the counter-force she can apply with her flight power, momentum affects her perfectly normally. The word you're looking for is invincible.

Also, in context, you're wrong in another way. When you're comparing the durability of two things, and one of those things is invincible, it is not incorrect either literally or in implication to say that the invincible thing is more durable than the other. There is no other way to compare another durable thing to Alexandria without being considerably more incorrect both literally and in implication. Would you say that Thor is more durable than Alexandria? I should hope not, because that would be nonsense.

Ah, I see. However I want to make somewhat of a correction. When I said she was immovable I was reffering to the positioning of her body's molecular structure on all levels. But I guess I was incorrect either way.

Bearing in mind that honor in this case means something like "That guy spat in my general direction, now I'm going to gather my entire family and slaughter his entire family." (Slight exaggeration, but not really by that much.)
That is more a symptom of a facet of it. Honor here is better read as personal integrity, as staying true to your beliefs and your code of values, the predetermined ethics you live under.

and, to a lesser extent because she can't do tinker guns/ammo, Miss Militia

Only by people who are unaware of just how scary Miss Militia would be once she hits the no fucks left to give point. The stated WoG limits of her power include both light towed artillery and the damn Davy Crockett. An Endbringer might laugh off her power, but anything short of one should run and HIDE when she gets pissed off.

Purity doesn't matter. Worthiness according to the norse virtues matters, which there are (reconstructed, lacking primary sources, from the surviving sagas):
  1. Courage
  2. Truth
  3. Honour
  4. Fidelity
  5. Discipline
  6. Hospitality
  7. Self Reliance
  8. Industriousness
  9. Perseverance

  1. Courage: Is not afraid to shut up about his thoughts.
  2. Truth: Truthful to his thoughts and stances.
  3. Honour: Does not cower to threats against his thoughts and stances.
  4. Fidelity: Iffy, but I'll just slip in that scene where Greg kept Taylor's secret identity secret.
  5. Discipline: Always goes on PHO no matter what.
  6. Hospitality: Doesn't have friends. Point is iffy. Probably would help heroes though.
  7. Self Reliance: Probably not.
  8. Industriousness: Holy shit does he piss people off fast.
  9. Perseverance: NEVER GIVES UP ON FIGHTING FOR HIS THOUGHTS!
He's a typical newbie poster.

And he hit about six out of the nine.

Don't know about the hammer, but like I said it'd be hilarious if he could.

Well, considering she's Thor, well... Poor Kaiser?

Yeah, I bet that goes about as well for Kaiser as Iron Man and Thor's reunion during the whole Civil War debacle went for Tony.

"Give your orders and ultimatums to those who choose to obey, or are too cowardly to fight, not to me. Or learn again the difference between a Goddess of Lightning, and a mortal man in a metal suit."
