A light on the frontier:40k Planetary Governor Quest

[X] Use them to grow 2 regiments worth of new Geno-warriors(requires a learning roll to determine success of the first batch)

[X] Use them to grow clones for gene-seed cultivation for the Dark Angels(+1 relations Dark Angels)
cloned space marines? what could possibly go wrong? xD xD

Good to get an in with the local space marine chapter

[X] Use them to grow clones for gene-seed cultivation for the Dark Angels(+1 relations Dark Angels)

Space Marines are a must, tought even with the clones we will need time to grow their numbers.

Which is actualy a good thing, they will have time to build up their infrastucture before their numbers swell beyond their capability to outfit.

And with small numbers of fresh Neophytes they can focus on their training because it will take long time berfore they can focus on numbers instead of quality.

Plus, we really need to start planning not only their Fortress Monastery(and its location) but also factories and Admech support to outfit them with modern Astartes equipment.

From power Armor and Bolters to things like Thunderhawks and Strike Cruisers, they will need them.

So the fact we have decades to procure them is a blessing.

You opt to use the next batch of vitae-wombs to help grow the Dark Angels numbers, while normally numbering in the thousands, these clones are heavily monitored, numbering only a few dozen, each gestating gene-seed that normally would have gone into a neophyte, instead being used to rapidly increase the number of gene-seed available to the Dark Angels with the entire cultivation process taking around 5-10 years, in the meantime a fresh squad of neophytes have joined the Dark Angels, using some of our training facilities for our elite troops, as they await an update on their legal status and where they will be deployed.

The fleet finally returns from their expedition into the Halo Stars, investigating the strange red light in the warp. The fleet arrives at Moran Secundus, using your station to replenish supplies, unload wounded and make light repairs before going their separate ways. The first thing you notice is that the fleet seems to be at around half the strength it left with, while the Rogue Trader Blackwood and Lord Inquisitor Gorean survived, the Magos leading the Explorator part of their fleet did not, and the fleet took heavy losses against a variety of foes. You are given a highly redacted after-action report by Gorean, which details their finding of several human worlds, long lost to the darkness, that have fallen into primitive savagery. They also found a Forge World of the Dark Mechanicus, initially thought to be friendly forces, they revealed their treachery in an ambush on some of the forward scouts, and constantly haried the allied fleet during its time on the expedition, Gorean in his report speculates that they likely force the primitive human worlds to pay tribute or otherwise harvest their populations for the nefarious means of the Dark Mechanicus. They also encountered a minor Greenskin Empire, they had fielded a large fleet, and employed large numbers of freeboota pirates in the Halo Stars, fighting the Dark Mechanicus, the Volanteans, their fellow orks and any other ships that came in their path.

Finally while they did not reach the red light, they did encounter what they believe to be a Volantean pocket empire on the edge of galactic space, as they encountered a powerful fleet, and Gorean believes that they be mustering for a campaign against the western Imperial frontier....

In light of this new information you may want to come up with a long-term strategy to deal with these threats

(This is an optional write-in)

In the meantime though, the tithe is once again coming up, how should we pay it?

[] 4 Regiments of Moranian Infantry
[] 200,000 thrones(only get 1 development option next dev round)
[] Other(Write-in)

[X] Survey nearby systems and their rulers in order to set up proper stellar defenses against any incursions from the new found threat, and send word to the Mechanicus that a major sect of the Dark Mechanicus has been discovered. The primary focus will be on holding off any enemy attacks coming our way before they can establish a ground presence, and then wait for the Imperium at large to put together a crusade for the region.

Reason for paying in thrones is that we need all our soldiers for what is coming.

This is a good plan, there's no way we can take the fight to them so we have to use Defender's Advantage and just fortify until the Imperium sends a relief force. Aside from that, why is everyone voting to give away our troopers? The subsector is heating up, we still have the Drukhari doing god knows what along with this new threat and the everpresent Ork Empires who might try for a WAAAGH!!! any day now. We can afford to lose a development point or two, our world is kind of up and running. There's nothing super major that we have to do beyond just enhancing prosperity and defenses.

-[X] Spread this information to local planetary governors so that they can start preparing as well, and propose mutal defence pacts as a system to push back invasion forces
-[X] Home Defence should create hidden, hardened stockpiles and bunker locations outside of the obvious areas to retreat to as well as complexes that are accessible by militia

Crap I penned this yesterday and forget to post it. I think we need to rely on more than what we have alone and this way we can potentially stall and bleed the advance at other planets before they even reach us. Basically defence in depth, while we try to help out neighbors.

You decide to send 200,000 thrones cash as your next tithe.

Along with Lord Inquisitor Gorean, you work to build a coalition to fend off the threats in the halo stars. Fortunately you already have excellent relations with many of your neighbors, with the Shiloh system, Governor Karn Istralis and the Rogue Trader Blackwood dynasty counted amongst your allies.

Between the discovery of the halo stars threats and the hand over of the Volantean base on Shiloh, you also gain +1 relations with the Lord Inquisitor and the Triumvirate, allowing you to count both the generally reluctant and distant factions as allies as well.

You also have the Dark Angels, but numbering only 3 squads of mostly neophytes, their usefulness and combat effectiveness is limited by the fact that heavy losses could result in their extinction.

Finally you have Krieg, your original homeworld, which while not able to send forces directly as an ally, can provide military aid or reinforcements.

[] Krieg Mechanized Assault force- provides you with 2 each of freshly trained Armored and Mechanized regiments, equipped with Malcador and Rogal Dorn heavy tanks, self propelled guns as well as centaur armored carriers, designed around a powerful if slow assault doctrine of the Death Korps
[] Krieg Siege Army- 10 freshly trained regiments of Death Korps Infantry, coming with organic artilery support and a large corps of combat engineers and quartermasters.

The Lord Inquisitor has also reached out to the Astral Hunters space marine chapter for assistance, as they guard the border, and may be at least partially aware of these threats already.

You use your position as Marcher Lord, along with the Inquisitors authority, to ask the members of the Coalition to move to war-footing if they have not already, stepping up training, materiel production and fortification.

In the meantime you can also choose one development choice

[] Focus on developing your manufacturing sector, you can pick what industry to develop
[] Build a system defense monitor
[] Expand the Tech-Forge
[] Expand the Pharmaceutical industry
[] Develop the logging, lumber and furniture industry
[] Focus on Orbital development, specializing/expanding your spacestation, defense and surveillance satellites
[] Order an Escort-Class ship(costs 2 choices)
[] Military build up and expansion
[] Other(Write-in)

How big is our navy atm? I'm thinking it's a good idea to grab a transport so we can empathetically uphold our end of the mutual defence treaties.

@dh188709 It would be good to put informational posts in the informational threat for easy acess

Edit: Okay I see, it's a Sword Class Escort atm witha freighter on the way. What armaments does the freighter have, would it just be the standard anti-asteroid light macro turret or do we have some anti-piracy weaponry on it?

We need to round out our core manufacturing capabilities if we want to support a war
