A light on the frontier:40k Planetary Governor Quest

Turn 66
Looks like we have infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and build a system defense monitor for the choices.

Your people work to build and upgrade the infrastructure of the realm, building bigger roads rated for heavy vehicles, bridges and rail lines to support trains heading between major settlements, farms, mining and various industrial sites.

You also have some landing strips, landing pads and docking towers for airships built to accommodate the increasing air traffic. Finally you build a small starport in the capital city of Colonia.

You also have your genetors and gene-savants build a lab and factories to refine hocha into more advanced products. With the two main products being a simple pain pill, for minor aches and pains along with a energy boosting fluid, that can be drank or directly injected. While initial production quantities are still low, over time it can be expanded and hocha can be further refined, with the products currently being given to your admins, workers and warriors.

Finally you order another system defense monitor built, and will have to figure out a name to christen it.

You also are given an update on the 4000 new recruits from the vitae-wombs who after receiving a basic education, religious dedication, basic military training and psycho-conditioning into the cult of sacrifice and other concepts from Krieg. With their biological ages now approximately 12 years old and their formal military training beginning.

Tech-mining roll

Total roll bonus +2

Crit fail

A large section of tunnels being used to do tech-mining collapses killing a tech-priest and several workers, preventing tech-mining rolls for the next 2 turns....

You have the Guardian of Moran do patrols in the surrounding systems, with orders to return to Moran immediately if they encounter a threat and to render assistance to any that need it, as occasionally merchant freighters take damage on the Volantean road trade route and can be guided back to Moran(where we can charge them for repairs, supplies and hospitality)

During one of these routine patrols, the Guardian of Moran picks up something strange on the augur, first believing it to be a piece of debris, upon closer inspection, appears to be a small satellite platform with high-tech Imperial sensor and communications equipment. It looks like it was designed to be camoflauged and only dumb luck allowed you to discover it...

[] Leave it be
[] Take it onto the Guardian of Moran and analyze it
[] Other(Write-in)

Finally Karn Istralis, has a shipment of arms of sent to you as thanks for your assistance, while most of it is pretty mundane, artillery shells, flak armor sets, lasguns, he sends a few thousand Livorian Long Rifles and Heavy Stubbers, with depleted volonium rounds. Knowing the role played by your recon troops, it was thought that they could make the best use of them. Livorian long rifles are a locally well known type of sniper rifle, using old fashioned stubber rounds. The ones given to you are master-crafted, with day and night scopes, silencers and barrel stabilizers. The heavy stubbers are more mundane, but are similar to a modern earth light machine gun, with depleted volonium rounds giving them armor-piercing capability against light vehicles and power armored troops...

He also has a request for you, that you send a military advisor mission to Livoria, to help him rebuild his forces. Something like that would include at least one Colonel-rank officer and a small staff of junior officers.

[] Agree to send a military advisor mission(+1 relations Karn Istralis)

The Ferusians, a small Xenos empire that lies in the north west edge of the sector, near the border and the halo stars. They have recently discovered warp travel and have begun a blood-soaked swath of conquest against neighboring systems, made up of ape-like creatures 8 to 9 feet tall….
Relations- (-5) Extremely hostile, limited interactions with Imperial forces thus far
Astral Hunters Space Marines- Intel on this chapter is limited, presumed to be White Scars Descendants, charged with patrolling the borders of Imperial Space, listed as a voidborn-fleet based chapter
Relations-(0) aloof, rarely interact with other Imperial forces
Lord Governor Karn Istralis- another new Governor, also recently awarded their fiefdom, presumably through family connections, as House Istralis is an powerful old family from the Galactic south. His territory is due galactic west of your location
Relations-(4) Very Friendly, ally
Varak's Kindred- Abhumans, known to have decent relations with Imperium, known for their mining and trading, appear to be semi-nomadic
Relations-(0) no contact made
Craftworld Ill-Bien- Eldar Craftworld and fleet, their true disposition is unknown to us as they are fickle and mysterious, just as likely to assist the Imperium as they are to fight it
Relations-(-1) Suspicious/Wary
The Triumvirate- A semi-autonomous star empire within the Imperium, made up of Falgor IV, a small forge world on the edge of Imperial space, known for its eccentricity even among the Mechanicus to any traders who have dealt with them, as well as a mining moon and industrial world in the neighboring Barall system.
Relations- (3) Friendly
Blackwood Rogue Trader House- Ambitious and relatively young Rogue Trader house, known for their prominence supplying the Macharian Crusade and exploring the halo region since then
Relations-(5) Devoted Ally
Krieg- Your homeworld, known for its toxic atmosphere, dour soldiers and vast underground bunker cities
Relations-(5) Devoted Ally
Various Greenskin Empires- the vast swaths of wilderness space in the region hold Orks as well as potentially minor xenos and lost human worlds, however unfortunately it seems orks have dominated most of these places
Relations-(-5) Extremely hostile
Sisters Hospitaller- The closest major part of the Ecclesiarchy in the region, they already have a small presence on your planet, focused on healing and missionary work. They have a strong relationship with their more Militant sisterhoods that could potentially be called upon if threatened militarily
Relations- (2) Warm
Unidentified Eldar Forces have also been known to engage in piracy and to raid worlds for slaves and plunder, little is known about them
Relations-(-5) Extremely hostile
Lord Inquisitor Dax Gorean- Ordos Xenos Lord Inquisitor, seems to like you and seems to very active in the region

I don't think you should be naming the defense monitors, just count how many there are.
Maybe stop naming them when we've built too many of them to keep naming them individually?
Warp capable ships on the other hand are a rarity in the hands of a Planetary Governor so naming them makes sense to me.

Well, it will take a bit of time before we get that many monitors and by then we could just form them into squadrons, with one of older, named ships as Squadron leader, Squadron name based on leader's name and other monitors in squadron having names along the line of "*Squadron name* *number in squadron*
So, for example, Shield of Moran would lead Shield Squadron and other vessels in it would have names like Shield 1.
Also, @dh188709 you have Guardian of Moran as a Firestorm class. It should be Sword class, unless a retcon or a refit happened and I missed it.

My bad, I'll get it corrected

Makes the most sense, we need to see what this is before making a decision

Turn 67
You decide to take the strange satellite onto the Guardian of Moran, and have the resident enginseers take a look at it....

Clearly of advanced Imperial technological design, borderline archeotech the satellite is remarkably small for the amount of equipment it is powering. The only indicator of its ownership being a small winged sword crest on the inside of a control panel. The enginseer could potentially link with the satellite and pull its data, but it seems secured against that, and the security will need to be bypassed.

What should we do?

[] Have the enginseer attempt to hack the satellite(DC 15, get three chances to hack before shutdown)
[] Take it with us and keep it in a hold
[] Take it with us and scrap it for its most valuable components
[] Put it back where we found it

You decide to send a military advisor mission to Lord Karn Istralis, giving him one of your Krieg Colonels, along with junior officers pulled from across the military, who will teach the Livorians Krieg/Moranian combat doctrine and some of our tactics and training routines to assist them in rebuilding their forces.

+1 relations Lord Karn Istralis

You must also once again choose how to pay the next tithe, as their ships will be at Moran again in the next 3-4 years

[] 4 Regiments of Moranian Infantry
[] 2 Regiment of Krieg Grenadiers
[] 200,000 thrones(only get 2 development options next dev round)

Dark Angels. I swear these guys are stalking us.

Sounds completely reasonable to me.

Also not sure if you guys saw the vote option before the stat update

Yeah... I missed that, my bad.

[X] Put it back where we found it
[X] 4 Regiments of Moranian Infantry

I want to rebuild our reserve of Krieg regiments before we start tithing them

Sounds completely reasonable to me.
Also, should we need more squadrons or if a ship does something truly impressive we can rename that ship to a unique name and make it a squadron leader.

We can make train up more elite Kreigers relatively easily that'll be elite at minimum. Veteran troops are worth their weight in gold and can only be gotten via combat testing raw troops.

We should hack first, worse comes to it we scrap it if it doesn't work out.

Turn 68
Since we have a tie on the satellite I'll break it in favor of hacking.

Your engineer attempts to bypass the security system on the satellite

DC 15

Total roll bonus +1
Learning +1

Fail, sparks and a mechanical scratching sound can be heard as the data is destroyed on the satellite. Which now you can decide to keep, release it back where you found it or scrap for parts.

It is likely they will investigate their satellite and will figure out that someone attempted to tamper with it.

[] Keep it in storage
[] Scrap it
[] Put it back

You also decide to give up 2 of your Krieg Mechanized Grenadier regiments for the tithe. The 1st and 3rd, leaving only the 2nd which has lost half of its strength on campaign.

Finally you should make a decision on the next development choices(choose 3)

[] Focus on developing your manufacturing sector, you can pick what industry to develop
[] Focus on further refining Hocha
[] Focus on Military build-up, training and recruiting additional regiments, as well as military reforms
[] Develop the fishing industry, increasing food supplies and possibly other resources
[] Develop the logging, lumber and furniture industry
[] Focus on Orbital development, specializing/expanding your spacestation
