Yes. The map derived out of a special sequence of prior quests, which makes it different. Building something with Alchemy will usually count towards Personal Actions instead.

Also one last thing for transparency reasons. When I do the calculation for the bonus of your enemies, spell (or attack) variation definetly counts into that. If someone has a wider arsenal available than you, they get a plus on their rolls (So, it's not only the bonusses that you get that count for combat success). You won't get much more detail than that from me, because Jacob is not yet experienced enough to put relations into that.
Thanks for the clarification.

On the other hand the goggles are a pretty big combat bonus, two spells in one, able to provide insight into dementers (which we'll lose access to next month), something significant to show Nicholas when we go back to the island, and we can only get them in time if we set it up this month.

I genuinely can't see how they're not a big deal? Is there something I'm missing?
A reason that some people may be hesitant with trying to finish the Goggles before the end of Term is that it would require Jacob to spend at least 4 Personal Actions on the Project in June (probably 5 to make it a sure thing because a couple bad rolls on 4 dice would likely make it come up short).

So 5 Personal Actions spent solely on the Goggles leaves 2 maybe 3 Personal Actions (depending on how many Normal Actions there are to convert to Personal) left to learn Spells or upgrade Subjects before the term ends. If people are okay with dedicating 5 Personal Actions toward the Goggles in June then then the Goggle Plan is a great one. It is just that some people don't want to lock in those actions for June and would rather spend those 5 Personal Actions upping subjects and learning spells thus giving Jacob more variety for the Dueling Tournament. Especially since opponents that have a wider arsenal than Jacob get a bonus to their rolls, per QM.

Are we sure we want to do Sirius and forest exploration at the same time? Seems kinds reckless but than it might fit the character.
That the overdrive is applicable for the Forest exploration makes it seem like the two actions can tie into one another somehow. And it makes sense, Sirius can't be in the Shack the entire time, and if he isn't there or on the Castle, he is on the surrounding grounds. Maybe some clues in the Forest.

*Looks at the plans*
*Sees Forbidden Forest exploration*

Having a part of our soul eaten stopped us from exploring dangerous places for one month.
At least with Dementors you know they are near. The Soul-Snatcher could sneak up on Jacob in the water which is he isn't used to navigating in. Where as Dementors are probably less mobile than the Soul-Snatcher was and their very aura makes it kind of obvious they are in your vicinity. As long as you know they are around and can do a Patronus you are mostly safe.

I am not worried about Dementors. I am worried about other things that might live there that we don't know about - like we didn't know about Soul Snatcher.

Thank you for the info...

I have modified the plan, now we are applying 4 actions to the map which will make sure we finish it with 95% certainty, and if we have average rolls and we manage to get it done in 3 actions, we won´t waste the fourth actions since we would go for a random encounter, so I hope that you don´t mind the change...

@ShyGuy I suggest you to adjust your plan in a similar way, to make sure we don´t waste any actions

And besides that guys, do you have any idea about any letter to write to our parents? Because neither of the leading plans have any letter...

You can't go for a second random encounter in one plan. That is not a repeatable action. If you need an action sink you can do something like 'Business School of Hogsmeade'.

I looked over the two now tied choices and they are both so close that really whichever ends up winning isn't that big a deal to me. Honestly, I am more in this for the excellently written story and not so much for being a guiding hand to Jacob's antics.

You might want to clean your plan up a bit, it is a bit confusing to read right now. Maybe make the conditional for the Map action the Search for Spells option instead of the Random Action?

Edit: Ninja'd

Edit2: As for a letter to write, I honestly have no idea. Even Jacob noted that the Case he just finished up wasn't exciting. Maybe he'll have more to talk about next month?

So my updated plan is now illegal?

I updated by deleting the random encounter section and adding this

[] Overdrive applicable: Stage III, A Hogwarts Map x4
-[] If the previous action is finished with less than 4 actions use the excess in Random Encounter

Which meant that if we get the map done in 3 actions we would use the fourth one for the random encounter, not to repeat the random encounter twice

You told me it was fine in your previous post...

The thing is I want to make sure to unlock stupefy for the next month, so I don´t want to risk it...

Your plan currently has too many actions, that is the problem.

You have 11 Normal Actions - 2 Overdrive Actions leaving you at 9 Normal Actions. You should be aiming for 8 with your Personal Actions as they are right now. So you have one too many Normal Actions in use. That is what I meant by you needed to clean it up.

Edit: Sorry if I was a bit unclear before.

@Fanhunter696
As others have stated, if you remove the Random Encounters action under Runes Club, it makes it clear that we now only have one Random Encounters that is conditional on finishing the Ghost Goggles.

Edit:
We can also talk to our father and ask him about tips/ideas for dueling.

Ok, thank you...

@Tabula Rasa Now that I have removed the random encounter under the rune club, and the only random encounter is conditional to wether we finish the map, is my plan legal?
Edit2: As for a letter to write, I honestly have no idea. Even Jacob noted that the Case he just finished up wasn't exciting. Maybe he'll have more to talk about next month?
Fair enough... I was thinking about asking our parents about flying brooms, which brands and models had a good price/quality relationship, and which would be a good price on the second-hand market...

I mean they are a useful exploration tool and much faster then the Talaria...

I can see how it was easy to mess it up. You never did the bolded part. It happens though, especially on mobile and you are in a rush. No need to worry about it.

Edited my plan a bit. Added a conditional so that if Jacob finishes the Map action early he will now do In Search of New Spells (find spells that can incapacitate an/or stunt your opponents). Figured it wouldn't hurt to have it in there in case it happened so as not to waste an action. Also added in a letter to Jacob's parents with him just letting them know he is making friends and keeping in touch with them and making mention of the Dueling Tournament.

Also,
I was inspired, so I did a bit of drawing.
Hope you all like it !

Just noticed the new drawings. They look amazing! Both of them so majestic and regal looking. Great work :)

[x] Plan Searching for Black and preparing for Ghostly Googles

I will vote for this plan because it has an action to search for a new spell ideal to catch the potential criminals and improve our arsenal for the duels.

I'll be honest. I half expected Jacob to unwittingly add Hermione to his growing harem circle of friends during case 4.

Well, if we successfully join the hunt for Black, and we create our own map, we are getting involved with the trio. I would also imagine, since Hermione was always the more socially cognizant of the trio, at least outside of Gryffindor itself, she is probably aware of us much more than Ron or Harry are, besides beating up on Slytherin bullies which they would probably support.
