Presumably this is on the same level as a tiered ability, since I doubt we would be given two options substantially different in usefulness, so I'mma voting on this one.

It could be said that magic sense is something that could be planned around more, but let's not forget that Jacob is a pretty spontaneous guy, an ability that gives him insights he would otherwise not get, even if randomly, sounds right up his alley, and could be very useful in achieving deep understanding in things if I read into this right.

Not everything is Magic (even if everything has a potential to be interesting and magical). This option will let Tabula show a greater variety of lore and world building as well as hint greater connections between "mundane" concepts we ooc know have great impact on magic (love as protection against the killing curse for example). The Voice option might lead to a greater interest in the muggle world, which surly will widen Jacob's horizons. Simply put I think this option will let Jacob see a greater picture.
Also it reminds me of the Frog, and I have a soft spot for it.

Interesting that the Basques have been fighting the Fae. We should definitely get more dream sessions before dungeon diving.

I would like magic sense since it's something that Jacob can control and advance himself.

Half of magic's strength is in its unpredictability. Death Eaters under an invisibility charm? No problem. Cursed waters that hide an undead army? No problem. A snake that masquerades as an eldery woman? Not a problem.

Statistical Approach vs Mystical Approach huh?
Well, Mystical seems more fun to read about and engage with.

Liking the story so far, some excellent worldbuilding!

I'm voting for magic sense because I think it'll generally be more useful more of the time. Once it's levelled up it might give us advantage rolls on investigation and research for example. Also I noticed this section "you will start your journey to develop your ability to sense all magic". Seems like an essential skill to have, especially once we go adventuring. Think about the cave in HBP - Dumbledore manages to sense Voldemort's protections, an ability like that will serve us very well with overcoming protections and enchantments we encounter below Hogwarts.
 
I am afraid that the voice will giving us information that is very vague. That means that it will be upto the thread to parse its meaning every time voice is triggered.

The riddle that we solved a few weeks ago has given me a taste as to what it is like. I am not sure that I want to go through that on a regular basis.

After sleeping on it a bit I'm gonna switch to Magic Sense. Mainly because there isn't anything that I can think of that it wouldn't be useful for. It has applications in dueling, exploration, as well as spell research. And it is also reliable and useful at all times.
