I mostly expected that Erika and Hanako wouldn't be together anymore in the sequel, but it still hurts, especially since the break-up seems to have been pretty bad. i feel part of the reason childhood/high school relationships, (romantic of otherwise) don't last anymore, (because they used to, its why the highschool sweethearts meme is a thing) is because of a lack of communication and the expanding of horizons that modern adulthood brings. i know people who were high school sweethearts that i went to school with that are still together twenty years later, (yes i'm an old fart) but to many of them split up and found others, (surprisingly still in the same group of friends) to mary
