unexpected 1:1 interactions are the most terrifying in this state. yes, Hanako just decided to focus on making friends, but she might also be worried that people would misinterpret her attempts at friendship, even more so with a language barrier (but hey, not wanting to be misunderstood could be a neat thing to bond over with our Russian-speaking acquaintance). I could see this going either way but I'm inclined to go for the scared response.

    • Hi all! Sorry this went and died on y'all. But, you'll be happy to know that I've decided to revisit this character and this world in a sort of reboot of this sequel, which you can find over here. I just felt stuck on this and decided coming back at it from a different angle might be more conducive to telling the story I wanted than slamming my head into a brick wall for where I had ended up with the story here.
