As always, most amusing! If Taylor ever gets to use Tattletale (or if Tattlebitc- Lisa does) and tries to figure out exactly why she is so attached to Schrodinger... well, pretty sure the blowup will be nuclear in nature. Goodbye Brockton Bay. And the East Coast. And North America in general.
It would take a pretty impossible series of unfortu-, Nope, not saying it. Fuck you Murphy.
On a less tempting fate kind of deal, Taylor likely wouldn't blow up. The kind of emotional manipulation used was both unintentional and pretty much as mild as could be. Hell I could have put the moves on her with Uber and Tattletale and got the same results. It really is just like giving her a single shot of vodka or something, it slightly loosened her inhibitions and natural charm took care of the rest. I mean have you
seen what Schrodinger looks like?
Suitably aged up and me being perfectly secure in my sexuality, I believe Cryaotic says it best.
For the last scene, you could have Danny offer to help, since (in fanon) he is good at paperwork and will keep the PRT from pulling a fast one one you.
A power to suggest for Taylor to use at school would be August Prince. The bullies wouldn't be able to hurt her even if they were trying.
Danny WILL be assisting them in various things, I'll probably be using a power alongside his outside perspective and expertise to make sure I don't get hoodwinked by the PRT's paperwork
I doubt Taylor will be using a power at school that would out her that easily. More likely it'll be something a bit more spider sense-y with some thinker I can't be assed to think about at the moment.
"I'll join the Protectorate if you give me one thing."
"Name your price."
"Armsmaster has to admit that I'm better than him."
HAH, fat chance of that. Armsmaster is beholden only to his most trusted Halberd. He would sooner shave off his beard than admit to that.
"anywhere and nowhere"
Adolf's son..
The character is more of an expy than a direct carry over power wise. I personally like Schrodinger's appearance and design, which fit with the generic catboy persona I was planning on using.
-panacea tune ups-
-Teacher-
-something that they would shy away from.-
Panacea and other capes like her was what prompted me to take the shared power perk. It would give me a reason to actually have a companion and would give some serious force multipliers to build up with.
As I've said before, top tier human master capes aren't likely to be used. Not on allies, and maybe even very sparingly if at all on enemies. I do NOT want people knowing I can copy Heartbreaker or Teacher until I'm just this side of unstoppable. Too many people are pants shittingly terrified of master capes like that and would target me on principle.
I've considered this before getting SI'd, might see something come of it later.
Hmm, as long as he doesn't use the endorphin happy-feel-good touch again too soon Taylor's brain chemistry should mostly even out again pretty quickly, she's probably going to have a few pretty minor lasting effects making her more predisposed to like him but hat's about it.
She got flooded with the chemicals because he forgot to make sure the drip eased off after a bit and it just kept dripping instead. The chemistry will return to normal but a lot of the 'damage' and I stress the airquotes there, has already been done.
Taylor has a mild crush on Schrodinger now. Partly due to the chemicals predisposing her to him. Partly because of his attitude and willingness to help her. Her lack of social skills to differentiate good will and someone trying to court her stress the previous point, as well as her gratitude and mild hero worship, which smooths over a bit of the problems she might have had. Schrodinger also hasn't made any indication that this is
not okay and has even returned the playful contact with hugs and words of encouragement/advice which makes it even harder for her to think of him as something other than desirable.
And on top of all this, SI Schrodinger's appearance, which is, as I've stated before, almost obnoxiously attractive in a way that gives even people like Dean and Alec a run for their money in the looks department.
And then there I am trying not to cause Egypt's plagues to rise up and drown me in terror and chitin.
Which to be fair is the normal reaction of a healthy teenager.
Which is why I threw her connection to her father in her face. Teen's don't think about the consequences of things enough, they don't think much at all actually. I feel like I dodged that bullet a bit when I was Taylor age, but then again that attitude didn't win me many friends so eh, upsides and downsides to that.
We see Taylor in canon run into Lung on her first night out. If she had been anyone else, had messed up at any point, had not had the sheer, author fiat levels of dumb luck on her side that night, she would be either severely burned or dead. And then what? That is the important part, she can't just be a hero as an escape from her life, because it will never be what she wants it to be which causes her to be too reckless when she otherwise wouldn't be.
On the other hand I had to convince Danny that Taylor was actually safer out on the streets beside me than she would be by herself alone or holed up in her house, which is true.
He can't baby her forever, especially when she has superpowers that she needs to learn how to wield properly. If she ever finds herself in a situation that she
could have handled had she been vigilant in honing her skills and
didn't survive because Danny was afraid of her getting hurt while trying to learn, then that would be just as bad as if she had gone out and gotten killed on her first night.
Ignoring the problem from either end isn't the way to do things so a compromise had to be made. Which is why I did what I did in story and went with being the mediator between the two. This also helps repair their relationship a bit, which was also a goal of mine.
That picture reminded me of Mr. Rogers. This is a good thing, thank you.
The possible ship is amusing as hell too, just imagining what Taylor went for in canon, big hulking manly Grue, and what she's crushing on in this, most amusing comparison.
SI Schrodinger has done more for her in the past day than Brian did for most of the series. I'm also not treating her like a little sister and I have a healthy respect for what she can do. That I also have a trio of buttons that she can press at any point and gain control over me satisfies the control issues she has. Aside from the muscles and Adonis body type I'm a fairly decent match for her. And as for the muscles, Panacea/Browbeat can take care of that, though I'd probably just go with an athletic build vs a more traditional body builder style build myself.
Brian also couldn't flip an Abrams tank and fold an I-beam like a pretzel whenever he wanted. Nor could he give Taylor the ability to do the same. That earns me a different kind of brownie point with her:3
Don't forget that Taylor isn't the scary warlord skitter mistress of escalation etc. etc. just yet. Right now she's just an insecure teenager trying to find meaning in life by being a hero. The rest doesn't come until later.
Again, it's not that she hasn't done these things yet, it's that she's capable of them in the first place. Her personality type is very much so a Determinator archtype, dealing with shit loooong after most people would have folded. I have a very deep and healthy fear/respect for that kind of mentality because I'm decidedly
not one of those types.
I hope his power set will expand later on? Is he stuck on two powers when he shares, or does he gain new powers when his power sharing is active?
His two power ability is set in stone as it is a power archtype from the CYOA it doesn't evolve or change. However body modifications and specific cape combos/tinkertech will expand the more down to earth powers the SI can use by a bit. And no he is not limited to the two power's he was using when he shared his power, the two sets of power sets are independent of each other and can still be changed at will. SI me just hasn't had a reason to change from the diplomatic combo I've been using so far.
Danny very smart caveman, can even make fire.
Danke, will fix these in a bit.
Good story; enjoying it. Don't put too much focus on your fantasy romance with Taylor, tho. Otherwise, looking forward to more.
To be honest, Taylor isn't my first choice romance wise in Worm, in fact she's not really even in any of my lists at all. As I stated in story she's average, only mildly attractive if just in need of a bit of exercise and TLC. Likewise with her quirks and personality. She's like a wounded puppy, perfect to daw and fawn over but not really dating material. I know that makes me sound kind of shallow but just going by sheer physical and emotional attractiveness Taylor isn't that high on the list.
Who are? You might ask for gits and shiggles? By physical appearance and properly scaled in age, in no particular order; Emma, Sophia, Lisa, Hannah, Paige, Sabah, Lily, Fenja/Menja, or The Simurgh.
By personality, also in no particular order; Hannah, Lily, Dragon, Paige, Purity.
Could some Panacea tune ups fix the physical appearance and a bit of some TLC and working with her fix Taylor's walking wounded personality? Certainly. Since I'm stuck with our Lady of Escalation for the foreseeable future there are plenty of chances for both, likely requested by Taylor for the former (when she finds out it can be done) and my general desire to help people for the later.
But as has been more eloquently said by someone else in thread.
I'm sure there'll be romance in it but that doesn't make it a romance fic. It just means it's a story about a regular guy going though life with a bit of a twist to it.
As I've said before I will be doing my level best to ruin whatever dignity SI me has, and possibly any dignity of those within the blast radius too.
