You know, some enterprising individual who has more free time than sense should write up a list of all the capes who
cannot be copied, and the author can threadmark it. Who's up for the challenge? It'll stop people from constantly guessing incompatible combinations of powers.
I could probably do that, though it would only be used as a reference sheet. Keep in mind, me in story isn't going to have that sheet as a resource. I have an okay memory but specifics can get fuzzy, that's one of the main downsides to my character aside from the malus, because that character is
me.
Let me put it this way, if I didn't carry a spare set of car keys with me at all times I'd have probably locked myself out of my car at least a half a dozen times last year or more. I've put biscuits in the oven then forgot them
all day, only realizing something was wrong when smoke started coming up the stairs and the wailing banshee howl of like 3 smoke alarms told me "shits on fire yo." I can get up to get something and forget about what I wanted to get half way to going to get it. I am forgetful, and if I don't remember it while I'm writing I'm sure as heck not going to remember it when an Endbringer is breathing down my neck.
eah... CYOA's are crazy OP with a good memory/researcher.
Which is why I have enlisted the resident in-universe power gamer to assist me in my endeavors rather than trying to work this shit out on my own. Taylor will be able to help somewhat but it's still going to be a learning experience.
I dunno. The story is good, the writing is good, the characters are somewhat interesting if a little hyper. I just don't how you'll go balancing the power without turning the entire thing into a curb-stomp.
Power balancing is based more on the character than the powers themselves. I've limited myself fairly well by following as much to the letter and the spirit of the CYOA choices, while cutting out any second triggers and nyxing any power granting capes that just straight up give powers. Then there's my character who suffers from a Malus that hampers him wherever he goes, doesn't have a very good memory for keeping up with all the power combo's in stressful situations and the in-universe reason for my insertion into the story; to entertain an omnipotent being. Entertain generally means I have to do things that would run counter to min-maxing (cuz min-maxing is generally boring) And do things which can sometimes seem nonsensical. My goal to hug an Endbringer is one of these things that I figure would entertain ROB and make him
not fuck with me as bad.
A man can dream.
Then there's my morality in play too.
Fantasy (erotic or otherwise) would have me be an evil murderhobo with a kill count that would make Game of Thrones jealous, with little real compunction against using Heartbreaker, Valfor etc. to skip the middle man of earning companions, making friends etc. If I was an absolute monster then I could, reasonably, take care of every problem on Earth within a month. Since I'm not an absolute monster and can at times be a bumbling idiot who panics-oh god why is this happening, run! Instead of tackling things head on logically, that is where I will try to find my balance. I'm telling a story here, not playing a game. And in-universe me is finding that "oh crap, this is real, better not accidentally turn someone into chunky salsa because I don't know how to power."
Butcher. Pretty sure her power was "you hit what you aim at"
Individual parts of the butcher collective I can copy as long as they are natural triggers. The butcher power itself I cannot.
and you basically have Tony Stark's Extremis armor.
Have to figure that combo out in story. Knowing it here doesn't help in-story me. Everything in-story me is using on the fly are combinations I've thought of before getting inserted. To figure out other combinations I must experiment, and then afterword figure out where I should devote most of my time to.
