In an AU where this quest is an anime, I would not hesitate to think the brother would be a hidden antagonist just from this scene alone.

Don't fuck with either brother lest you wish to involve the other.

The anime would be from the perspective of our Bro, and we're obviously his muscle-head Bro. Now, I don't think it'd be unheard of for the MC to go villain for a bit, but it's definitely out of the norm

Holy shish kebab!

Never mess with the brothers unless you want a knuckle sandwich and/or your deepest secret revealed! XD

[New All 20 Perk Unlocked!: Read The Room: You have an innate understanding of people's emotional state. Automatically get a general understanding of how a person feels the moment you see them. Right now it doesn't go beyond surface level, but sometimes that's all you need}
Useful.
The President took his seat right across from you. His face kept the same static expression he had when he introduced himself to Yameko, Hayato, and you. Neither of you speak. Seconds turn into minutes as the two of you remain locked in a staring contest. Neither of you wants to break the silence.

He does not recognize his mistake. You lean forward, place your elbows on the table, and rest your chin on your hands. That's the only indication you will give that his flippant disregard for your brother has irked you at all. Slowly, carefully, you inform him of the mistake he made, "During our first interaction, you dismissed my brother as if he was not part of the conversation. I request that you apologize for this action."
*sniff* Such a caring bro.
The President nods, "Justice is one of the pillars of our society. Though it may seem ephemeral, it is something that we must always strive to uphold. Lest the world we have constructed or ourselves fall apart at the seams. And one part of that is ensuring that justice is fair and proportional to the crimes committed. Which is where the case of Rin Agano comes in."
Good principles.
He idly scratches his cheek with a single finger, "My investigation into Munagi's actions are what lead to me learning of the three students still planning to find ways to affect the trial. From there I had planned to meet the three of them myself. To see if I could understand their motives and derive any important information that could lead to me discovering the truth of Agano's involvement...and that is how I learned of you."
So we basically stumbled on one and other.
....No, you can't lie.

But you can't tell the truth either.

So, you will compromise.
Oh? But nice you didn't need to lie.
"No. But I do believe they were the catalysts behind its occurrence. The girl they bullied likely left the campus and went to Kirin High. Once there, they used the resentment Kirin High has for our school to rile up the the student body. Then it was a simple matter of guiding them towards Raijin as a way of getting revenge. This girl is likely your true culprit. Agano is merely a distraction."
Well, it is mostly true.
[Trickery: 102/100: Success! +80XP]
Wow, checks are getting hard.
"....I see," the President's eyes return to their normal state. He leans back in his seat with a shake of his head, "If what you say is true, then I share some of the blame for the attack on the school as well. If I had paid more attention, I could've done something about the bullying before it led to this. I will have to look into this girl you speak of. Do you know where she is now?"
Responsible young man.
There is an event in the Assembly Hall that you should attend. Don't worry about me. I was briefed on the reason for the event before this little meeting of ours."
The new faculty being introduced and the transfer student.
"Tell me, what do you think would happen if the other schools knew he fought in the raid?"

[???? Activated]

[Multiple Checks: Auto Passed]

"It is merely a hypothetical, you understand. But I wouldn't be surprised if it happened becasue you lie-"
Oh, oh no, you just fucked up, Mitsuhide.
"Mistuhide," your voice is slow, menacing, and deliberate at you call his name, "I was able to discover that information all from simply looking at the photos behind you. What do you think I could find, if I took a couple of minutes to search up your mother? If I discovered her name?"

Ever so slightly, you turn your head to fix him with a predatory gaze, "What do you think would happen, if your relationship was leaked to certain unsavory groups of people? What would you do then?"

His face goes ashen white. His teeth grit in frustration. Sweat drips down onto the table like raindrops. His hands grip the edge of the table hard enough to make them shake. HIs pupils are wide with fear, apprehension, and anger.

Good.

You turn back to the door and pull on the handle. As it slides open you say, "Remember this, Mitsuhide. While I admire your ideals and wish you luck on your future endeavors, should you ever threaten my brother, his scholarship at this school, or any opportunities he finds for himself," you pause.

You let the silence stew for five minutes.

"I will do everything in my power to destroy your life. That is a promise."
It is nice that our bro cares, but after this display I can see him possibly going down a path to darkness if he ever believed it would protect Hayato.

I was away at the time, so I did personally see what transpired.
"not" is missing.
I would do what I could to get them advanced to the chargers for a fully grown adult
"charges"

Ever so slightly, you turn your head to fix him with a predatory gaze, "What do you think would happen, if your relationship was leaked to certain unsavory groups of people? What would you do then?"
Put you in jail, most likely. Blackmail is a crime, same as leaking personal information. Leaking personal data of a police officer to have something happen to her can be considered a felony depending on where you are.

It's cool to threaten the Student Council President, in an anime way, but let's not get carried away. What we said could already be grounds for suspension.

On the other hand, I liked the dilemma presented to us. To have a character who is, at least nominally, on the side of justice, and is working against you; where you need to cooperate yet can not apply "honesty is best policy" as the genre dictates and have to choose how much you are willing to give away.

This is somewhat undermined by our threat. If we can scare the Student Council President into silence, then there is no dilemma and no danger. We can have it swept under a rug even if the truth surfaces. If we can not, however... then perhaps it wasn't the most sound of moves.

We should have pressed him from the Justice angle instead.
I think "Yandere Mode" has more letters than that?

Week 8.3
"You're sure that was them, Yato?"

"Positive, my Lord. While I did not get a clear look at their facial features, I made sure to commit the iconography they use to memory."

You groan while leaning against a wall next to the doors leading into the Assembly Hall. Students were streaming out of the room, gossip over the new arrivals spreading like wild fire. You could feel the excitement and curiosity at the prospect of learning about the newcomers.

But you, Nagai Hayato, could not shake this sense of dread.

You place a hand on your forehead to steady yourself. Things just got a lot more complicated. You need to let Yamato and Yameko know about this. Hopefully, your brother is finished with his meeting. And it went well.

As if on cue, Yamato comes from around a corner to your left. He threads his way through and passed other students who try to stop him. He is making good progress...until two persistent students manage to stonewall him. Then you walk over and make your presence known by loudly calling out to your brother. The two assholes see you, sneer, then make themselves scarce.

The two of you wait for them to leave. Then you turn back to Yamato, "Hey man, how was the meeting with the Student Council President."

"It went well," his reply is as plain as always, "How was the assembly event?"

Your expression turns into a frown. You place a hand around Yamato's shoulder and start to lead him towards the dorm, "Yeah...about that. We should wait until we get back to the dorm to talk about that. Also, think you could contact Yameko?"

Yamato's eyebrow raises but he asks no questions. He merely follows you while typing out a text for Yameko to meet you in the dorm room.

"The Organization is here?!" Yameko shouts, her ears and tails pointing towards the ceiling as you and Yato begin your explanation.

You give a grim nod, "Yeah. Two of 'em. A guy and girl. Twins, I think. Apparently, the Organization has become Raijin's new 'Benefactor' since a lot of rich folks withdrew their donations after last week's raid."

"And their two lackeys have been sent here under the guise of so called 'Student Counselors'," though Yato may not have a body it is not hard to conjure an image of him scoffing at the title, "This was no doubt done as a way to infiltrate the school and discover our kind."

"Do you know their names?" is Yamato's quick reply.

You nod, "Shinji Josu and Shinji Aki. Boy and girl, respectively."

Yamato gives his kitsune Partner a knowing look. She gives him a determined frown and bows, "Understood, Yamato-sama. I shall learn what I can about them."

"Thank you, Yameko. But do not do anything reckless. We have yet to encounter anything or anyone from this group. They likely have ways to detect Supernatural creatures. You will be in danger should you get too close."

Rather than look worried, Yameko smiles and rest her chin in the palm of her hand. Her tails move to frame her face while she flutters her eyelashes at your brother, "Are you worried about me, Yamato-sama?"

"Of course. You are a friend and my Partner. Why wouldn't I be worried?"

The blunt response takes the wind out of her sails. She doesn't lose her smile though, "Oh, yes. I understand."

You resist the urge to facepalm at your brother's denseness. As you get ready to let the topic drop, you remember another part of the event, "Oh, right! Also, we're getting a Transfer Student in our classes. I think she's from...England? Somewhere in Europe. Her name's Elizabeth Young."

"Do you suspect her of being from the Organization, too?"

"I'm...not sure," you think back to the girl from when she came onto the stage. It had been before the introduction of the Organization flunkies, and didn't seem connected to them in anyway. Then again, her showing up the same day as the other two is a bit too coincidental for your taste.

Yamato lets your thoughts simmer for a bit. Then he replies, "Either way, this does little to impede our objectives. We merely need to be more careful when we interact with the Supernatural in anyway. I shall send a text message to Hiroko to warn her as well. In the meantime, we have more important matters to settle."

"Oh, right," you smile while rolling your shoulder to get the kinks out, "It's laundry day."

"Which means it's time...."

"....for the Thumb War."

[The Organization has appeared! Two "Student Counselors" are now in Raijin Academy! Chance to Encounter them during certain Events!

Figured I might as well get this out now as it's not that long.

Also, Yamato and Yameko only have two AP open each, cause they're both investigating the newcomers.

Surely you mean "an ad-hoc training session". All a part of greater preparation for the tournament.

"You're sure that was them, Yato?"

"Positive, my Lord. While I did not get a clear look at their facial features, I made sure to commit the iconography they use to memory."
Yato recognizes the Organization's symbols.
"Hey man, how was the meeting with the Student Council President."

"It went well," his reply is as plain as always,
That's one way to put it.

Interesting that Elizabeth wasn't mentioned.
"Of course. You are a friend and my Partner. Why wouldn't I be worried?"

The blunt response takes the wind out of her sails. She doesn't lose her smile though, "Oh, yes. I understand."
Ouch, poor Yameko.
You resist the urge to facepalm at your brother's denseness. As you get ready to let the topic drop, you remember another part of the event, "Oh, right! Also, we're getting a Transfer Student in our classes. I think she's from...England? Somewhere in Europe. Her name's Elizabeth Young."

And there she is! Also interesting that she's not tied to the others. Hmm, I wonder...
So we want to get all these skills to at least 50 by the tournament so we can participate, preferably higher. We could do a full weekend training kendo/karate? I'm not too sure on the training mechanics tho, been a while since I read the quest.
We can get it done during weekdays, since weekends are the only time we can do research, hang out with people and go exploring.

[X] Plan: First Impressions Are the Key
-[X] A Good First Impression: Try to ensure that every first meeting you have is a good one. That will make sure people like you more. (+3 to Starting Relationship Points)
-[X] Help Yamato keep his promise. You've got one more person to meet. Let's go.
-[X] Go on another date with Ritsuko. She'd be willing to come with, right?
-[X] Find Elizabeth Young: She's a new student. Maybe you can show her around?

First, we should help Yamato to finish keeping his promise and since we just got the perk Words Filled With Confidence, it works well with A Good First Impression, making sure that all our first meetings start strongly and we're meeting lot of new people in the future. We should also hang out with Ritsuko this week, since if we don't her SL will start degrading since it has been that long since our last outing, and I really want Hayato to meet Elizabeth and get first impressions on her and start to getting to know her.

[X] Plan Study before training
-[X] A Good First Impression: Try to ensure that every first meeting you have is a good one. That will make sure people like you more. (+3 to Starting Relationship Points)
-[X] Pinpoint Calculations: It's faster if you do it in your head. (+10 to all Mathematics Checks; Will always get above 50 on your Math Exams)
-[X] I Can Recall That Event!: Who knew remembering random historical facts could be so useful? (+10 to all History Checks; Will always get above 50 on your History Exams)
-[X] Help Yamato keep his promise. You've got one more person to meet. Let's go.

This plan will make sure that we will not need to focus on our studies for a while.

"Some wouldn't. I will," you reach into your pocket and pull out the folded piece of paper you brought with you. You swiftly unfold it and push it towards Mitsuhide, "A written apology. If you would. I will ensure it reaches my brother once we are done here."

Dawww, that's really sweet of Yam.

I hope we get to actually read it, the analysis implications will be useful.

He waves for you to partake of the offered food first. You decide to simply take one of the bottles of cool water.

That's definitely some sort of big analysis play by the Prez. I wonder what he'll get out of the intended "Water's necessary yo" Yam has going on.

[Trickery: 102]

You could lie to him.

Definitely, amd I really like how Yam took the time to git gud at a bread and butter Skill for himself, especially since there's going to be more and more political stuff going on. We'll just have to make sure we're a good enough distraction for him to do his work.

[Feelings + Interest + Motives: 45/150: Fail!]

Hmm. I'm getting the feeling that after the Tourney we're going to want to train Yam up to Empathy All-50. Being able to understand others is going to be super important for being a Super Plotter.

Moreover, if Hayato found out....

[Bond: He's my Best Friend AND Brother]

....No, you can't lie.

Dawwww!

You think waaay too highly of our opinion of lying and manipulation, but I'm glad we can be a morality hat for you.

"Tell me, Mitsuhide," you gaze into his piercing eyes while keeping your own mind calm, "Are you aware of any bullying occurring within our school?"

Ooo, going for a root cause misdirection, spicy and technically not lying!

"There was one last thing, Nagai,"

Oh? I thought the meeting on a whole went decently?

He is currently leaning over the table while looking absentmindedly at the ceiling, "I heard that your brother, Nagai Hayato, will be representing our school as a Sole Participant at the upcoming Tournament. This is, supposedly, due to the other schools not wishing to face any of our students who fought to defend our school. But, to our rival schools, Hayato did not play any part in the raid whatsoever. Thus he qualifies."

...yes, and? It was a really lucky coincidence that we chose to go Subtle about us being involved, cause that knock off effect was not anywhere in our considerations at the time.

"Tell me, what do you think would happen if the other schools knew he fought in the raid?"

Fuck, he's going to get himself murdered.

Rip Prez, we hardly knew you.

"It is merely a hypothetical, you understand. But I wouldn't be surprised if it happened becasue you lie-"

And you dug yourself too deep. There was a brief moment where you could have escaped, but now you have The Anime Protagonist against you.

His voice has a tiny seed of nervousness to it.

He has eyes at least.

You're not looking at him anymore, but you can feel the emotions radiating off him from here.

As of now, that tiny seed has grown into a sprout.

More Empathy skills leading to better manipulation/threatening?

You hear a hand limply fall onto a solid surface.

Now it's grown into fear.

Honestly can't tell if this is part of his Unknown Protagonist Superpowers, a Narrative Convention, or if he's got higher Perception than I thought.

A chair loudly skids across the floor.

He's stood up. In panic from the sound of it.

Which means he's finally begun to understand what you're saying.
.

"Don't fuck with my Brother."

His face goes ashen white. His teeth grit in frustration. Sweat drips down onto the table like raindrops. His hands grip the edge of the table hard enough to make them shake. HIs pupils are wide with fear, apprehension, and anger.

Good.

Oh, I think I see what happened.

He hadn't originally planned on doing this, but then Yam basically made an apology to us a requirement to continued cooperation. Prez read that as a Vulnerability to exploit, and when he went for it Yam revealed that it was in fact a gigantic red button labeled "Do Not Push."

Two things I like about this.

One, it's really nice to know he cares. We talk and hang out ICly, but knowing that he'd be willing to absolutely wreck someone on our behalf is darkly heart warming.

Two, I just realized that the Unnecessarily Long Silent Pauses are things like Internal Monologues or Flashbacks for the viewer, in this case likely showing and highlighting us being a Baller Brother.

You open the door, put one foot out, then pause.

"Ah. Thank you for speaking with me. I enjoyed our conversation. I hope we can have more in the future."

Yeah, I hope the Prez is able to reconcile the Polite Yam with the Yandere Yam and stay out of the way of the latter.

The extra effort to help Yam hide the body would eat into our training time!

Hmm. That was an interesting experience.

Now to head to Assembly Hall.

You need to be there to greet Hayato when the event is over.

I too want to know what went on in the Assembly.

Interesting that Elizabeth wasn't mentioned.

And there she is! Also interesting that she's not tied to the others. Hmm, I wonder...

Have I missed some WoG on Ms Young somewhere? I don't remember her being mentioned before, unless I'm forgetting an interlude?

Edit:

Oh right!

"And with this, Elizabeth Young, your punishment for your error is finished.

This makes sense.
