The greater bonus takes Precedent in that case, so it would only get a +5.
In hindsight. The fact that two out of three tagged skills for Hayato aka Spiritual Resistance, and Street Fighting are already Class Bonuses is a bit of a waste. Though on the bright side, they did allow for the character backstory to work better, all things considered. It fits the narrative.

Diplomacy is also tagged, which Hayato didn't originally have a bonus in. A good decision considering it pairs well with his Empathy Bonuses.

Though I do wonder if having the tag would help increase the cap to 150, in the future. Then again...
The Standard Cap is 100. This is for most characters.

You can get a Cap of 150 if you complete certain events.

Your brother will start with a cap of 150 and can upgrade it to 200. Cause he's the Protagonist.
This seems like a situation where all Skill Caps Upgrade to 150, not just specific ones.
As a bit of a heads up, Supernatural Martial Arts can't work with each other normally. Certain ones are just way too different to be able to mix well in Combat. So having all 50s in two Supernatural Martial Arts won't give you much.

But again, I said normally. There are exceptions.
Gotcha. Hmm, I could see the Griffin one working well with UMT.
Martial Art: Shouting Hurricane Style - By combining the force of one's blow with the force of one's voice , the practitioner can strike with the power of the wind behind his every attack. The user's voice must be powerful enough to create such forceful winds, thus having large lungs, an eccentric personality, or a beautiful singing voice are required to use this style. Corresponding Skill: Speech
Though all things considered, we probably shouldn't be thinking of picking up even more partners...we have enough to train up as we are now.

...Weird thought, I am kind of surprised Yamato didn't somehow get into a situation where he partnered with a monster during his time away from Hayato, looking at the clubs. Guess we do have some time before things get into high gear. Nice.

What if he already partnered without telling us about it for some reason?

Part of it is because you guys chose to have the Public not know that Monsters exist + the Secret Organization.

Due to that, Monsters aren't going out of their way to get human partners, even if it would increase their power. Cause there's always a chance that they'll fuck up and run into a member of the Organization (Name Pending), or get saddled with a weak/stupid Partner who will get them caught.

I see. Its a good thing Yato is pretty easy to hide, in that he literally appears to be leather gloves most of the time...I can't even imagine how the brothers would have helped hide all our other choices other than the Griffin.

The Griffin appears to be an eagle, so probably justifiable as having a bird as a pet. Assuming they are okay with that idea.

Hmm...actually, do monsters have a 'human' form or 'astralized' form? To aid in hiding?

Do either of the Brothers know how monster society usually operates? Or rather the unspoken rules. Did Yato tell them anything about it?

1. Yep. Most Monsters do have some other form to make themselves easier to hide. Not all, but most.

2. Neither really knows how Monster Society operates. Mainly cause neither sees reason to ask. Hayato is your typical Shounen character, so his thing is "Yato's my Partner. I protect my Partner." That's it, he doesn't need anymore. Yamato sees it as interesting, but nothing that's seriously affecting their lives right now, so he hasn't really looked too far into it. Yato's been quiet cause neither of the brothers have asked.

Alright. Going to the Library with Yamato after the Martial Arts Club.

Alright Imma make a prediction, we'll either: meet someone at the library. Or it's just going to be us and our bro. My free time event's senses are saying the latter.

Forgot to mention, you guys can choose to train a Skill on the Weekend if you want.

Stop pre-reading my notes :p.

Seriously though, sorry it's taking so long everyone. It's just I'm trying to write the next Chapter in a Fanfic and get my classes in order. Anyone who follows me over on QQ know what Fanfic I'm talking about.

We can!?

Should we add it in our previous vote?

Its fine. IRL is most important. (Don't have a QQ Account).
EDIT
Oh wait, do you mean studying is one of the options, if we don't do anything else?

If you remember from Character Creation Part 1:

6. Visiting towns and interacting with others will generally be done during weekends, though weekends can also be used for training with a multiplier of 2.5.

And the vote's already been called. So no going back now. Sorry.

Oof. Pity.
6. Visiting towns and interacting with others will generally be done during weekends, though weekends can also be used for training with a multiplier of 2.5.
Education Category: 10 + 3 = 13 Per AP.
Art: 5 (?) Per AP.
Practicality: 10 + 1 = 11 Per AP.

Considering that modifier, instead of 10 AP needed to raise each skill to 25. We could have trained one skill to adequate level this weekend, aka -2 AP Needed, lowering it to 8 AP.

Hmm...well if we spend all of Week 2s AP on one skill, and then use that weekend to study again. We could cut off two required subjects off. Down to 6 AP. Rinse and repeat for Week 3. Finnaly ending on Week 4.

Well art may make it even longer. So if we spend Weeks 4 and its weekend on Art. That'll solve it.
  • Mathematics: Second Week 2 AP = 26.
  • History: Second Week Weekend = 13 x 2.5 = 30.
  • English: Third Week 2 AP = 26.
  • Practicality: Third Week Weekend = 11 x 2.5 = 27.5.
  • Art: Fourth Week 2 AP = 10.
  • Art: Fourth Week Weekend = 5 x 2.5 = 12.5 + 10 = 22.5 Total.

Week 1.3
[X] Martial Arts

"STAND!"

The shuffling of feet echoes through the large dojo as sixty students stand in unison.

"BOW!"

You follow everyone else's example as you all bow in greeting to your senior and your Sensei.

You all stay like that for about two minutes, then the Club Leader shouts, "STAND AND SIT!"

It's almost machine-like the way everyone obeys the Club Leader's words.

[Empathy Check: Feelings: 17/10: Success! +5XP]

You can easily see why. An air of authority and presence exudes from every move the young man makes. He's been with this club a long time and knows what it takes to keep everyone's attention.

"Now before we begin official introductions, Sensei Hamza would like to say a few words to both the returning members and the newcomers."

[Empathy Check: Feelings: 17/15: Success! +5XP]

But whatever authority or charisma the Club Leader had is nothing compared to Sensei.

He sat on the right side of the main stage with his eyes closed, completely silent, and still. Despite that, your eyes were always drawn to him whenever the Club Leader stopped talking. And you doubted you were the only one with the way he looked.

[Empathy Check: Feelings: 17/50: Fail!]

The thing is though, that's all you could tell. The commanding aura that radiated out from him that flowed throughout the entire room. Anything deeper than that was hidden. Didn't help that he started his speech with no emotion in his voice whatsoever.

"Thank you, Setake," his voice is as deep and worldly as you expected. He turns to address you all with discerning eyes before starting, "Among you, I see many faces. Some new, some old. Yet you all carry the same level of potential and drive that the Raijin Martial Arts Club reveres. You all have the chance to excel at this school. Do not waste that chance while you're here."

Your eyes start getting heavy as the Sensei drones on. You try to stay awake, but the speech is too similar to what you heard during orientation. Maybe if you just close your eyes for a...

"Allow me to end my address with some instruction. Firstly, there will be no special treatment in his Club."

Something ripples through the crowd of students and rouses you from your stupor.

"Second, while all official matches will follow the national rules of the Martial Arts Competition, any unofficial bouts between students will go until Knockout or one side yields to the other."

[Empathy Check: Feelings: 17/20: Fail!]

The atmosphere in the room changes when he says this. While you can't tell exactly what it is, or why it changed, you do know that everyone's aggression shot up by a large amount. There's no way Sensei Hamaza can't feel it too. But he does nothing to calm the mood down. He simply continues in the same town of voice, "Finally, if you ever feel that you need someone to speak to about any type of trouble, you can come to either your Senior Setake or I. We will assist you with whatever you need. Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you all when the Nationals come around."

You all shout thanks to Sensei as he walks away from the center of the stage. Then he begins laying out how the Club works. There are three types of Martial Arts practiced at the Club. Kendo, Mixed Martial Arts, and Karate. Each Martial Art is given its own space for training and sparring bouts. Karate has a large room in the east wing, Mixed has one in the west wing, and the central building is where Kendo practice takes place.

[New Martial Art: Karate]

[New Martial Art: Kendo]

[New Martial Art: MMA]

This might explain why you weren't given a gi when you first walked in. You don't exactly imagine someone wearing one if they're doing MMA. Karate or Kendo, sure, as they're both traditional Martial Arts. But MMA is a mixture of multiple types of Martial Arts and fighting techniques in general.

[Melee Weaponry: Swords: 0]

[Martial Arts: Brawling: 0]

[Martial Arts: Street Fighting: 15]

Which is probably why you gravitated towards it when the introduction was over and everyone was allowed to pick a place to practice. Sliding the door open reveals a large, white wall room with a small boxing ring set up in the center. A bunch of students are scattered across the place practicing in different ways. Using the punching bags, lifting weights, shadow boxing, or simply hanging out and talking. The atmosphere is surprisingly relaxed despite the Sensei's speech.

You immediately head to one of the vacant punching bags and start going at it. You keep the pace steady, going through the basic motions for a while. Before long you someone comes over and starts spotting you. The guy's a bit taller than you with his uniform shirt completely buttoned up and gloves on his hands. He watches you go, his black hair swishing as he nods his head, "Nice, nice. You're pretty good."

"Thanks. Had a lot of prior practice," you joke while moving from punches to kicks, "Name's Nagai. You?"

"Kohei," he smiles and pushes himself off the wall, "I'm the most senior member of the MMA Fighters in the Club. And you're doing pretty well despite being a newbie."

"How can you tell I'm new?"

"Been here long enough to tell the difference," he laughs before walking around to your other side, "Anyway, if you've got any questions just come ask me. The club meets every other Saturday, but you can come by whenever to practice whatever you want. Either I or one of your other seniors will be here to help you out."

"I'll be sure to remember that," you finish off your training with a high kick followed by an uppercut to the bag. As it swings side to side on its chain you back up and bow to Kohei, "Thank you clarification, Kohei-senpai."

[Empathy Check: Feelings: 17/10: Success! +5XP]

His face cringes as you finish, followed by a raised right hand as he says, "No need for that. Kohei's what everyone calls me."

You stand up and nod with a smug smile, "Kohei-san then? Or would you prefer, Kohei-kun?"

He laughs at you then wraps his arm around your shoulder, "Ha! I have a good feeling about you Nagai!"

With that, the rest of your day at the Martial Arts Club goes by relatively unperturbed. All in all, you think you'll like it here. All you gotta do is keep your grades up...

....Maybe you should go see Yamato in the Library.

[Martial Arts Club Unlocked! Can now go there to Train on the Weekends! One AP will be locked to the Martial Arts Club every second Weekend!]

[+15 XP Gained in Total!]

[+5 to Street Fighting and MMA]

[New Relationship Unlocked: Hose Kohei]

And here it is. Hope it went well.

Looks like training Empathy was a good move. Once we've got some Education training in, we should probably spend one or two AP more to get the tougher checks. While we do have a training bonus, the All 50 is still 8 AP away for Empathy, so that'll be for some time yet.

In the more immediate future, Martial Arts All-50 looks closer. I think we might want to pick up some Perception: Environment too for the sake of taking advantage of the nature of Street-Fighting to use improvised weaponry. Plus, Perception is generally good to detect traps.

1. Club Leader has a Climb pic. Okay...I have no idea whether the swords and armor is actually on him. Since we did vote for a World where everything counts for martial arts, but...there does not seem to be a weapons section mentioned. Unless it is MMA.

Looking at it, later on. It does mention Swords, Brawling, and Street Fighting. So sword is probably real. Not sure about the armor.

2. Long Time, so probably a third year? That or second. Probably the former.

Yup, probably don't have to worry about sabotage.

Wonder if we can find fellow scholarship students.

1. Well then...that rule is either going to be fun, or utterly horrible for Hayato. Really depends, on how many people Hayato challenges or more importantly challenge us. I assume, unofficial bouts require some kind of declaration first. Otherwise, it would pretty much be assault.

2. At least, this rule probably only applies to Martial Art Club Students, rather than the student body in general.
He simply continues in the same town of voice, "Finally, if you ever feel that you need someone to speak to about any type of trouble, you can come to either your Senior Setake or I. No need to try and be a jack of all trades or master of all.

He'd be a good training partner, assuming he's free.

The club meets every other Saturday, but you can come by whenever to practice whatever you want. Either I or one of your other seniors will be here to help you out."
So Martial Arts club is every other Saturday.

Assuming we still have two slots for weekends. That means we could totally use two activites to hyper study education next week!

Assuming we study for one education skill using two AP during the weekdays...we could clear out 3 of the 5 required subjects. With only 2 left!

Mathemathics: 10 + 3 = 13 Per AP. (2 Weekday AP = 26) or (1 Weekend Slot = 32.5)
History: 10 + 3 = 13 Per AP. (2 Weekday AP = 26) or (1 Weekend Slot = 32.5)

Practicality: 10 + 1 = 11 Per AP. (2 Weekday AP = 22) or (1 Weekend Slot = 27.5)

Of course, this is assuming we study with Yamato, during the weekday, and the weekend, if we don't. Our pace may become slower.

And here it is. Hope it went well.
1. So, we can also go there, even outside club meetings. Which is fair.

2. Hmm...so we should have 20 in Street Fighting & 5 MMA.

Assuming the x2.5 Multiplier works. Then it may be more practical to study on our own, the martial arts, but that also avoids Social Linking with the club members, when we do have the free time. Especially since we are probably going to get gains, doing that anyhow.

3. New Social Link! 85 XP away from Level 2.

Well, assuming he hasn't gone through whatever allows one to become 150. Then odds are his cap is 100, just like any other human. Though he probably has quite a few skills at high levels, with corresponding perks. Tough challenge, but I think we can make it. :V

Well, if he does become our mentor, it'll probably take a season or two for us to surpass. And then we have to start cutting down death flags.

Because, in Anime Series, its not only protagonist mentors in trouble, but all mentors.

He'd be a good training partner, assuming he's free.

English: 10 + 3 = 13 Per AP. (2 Weekday AP = 26) or (1 Weekend Slot = 32.5)
Art: 5 (?) Per AP. (2 Weekday AP = 10) or (1 Weekend Slot = 12.5)
Practicality: 10 + 1 = 11 Per AP. (2 Weekday AP = 22) or (1 Weekend Slot = 27.5)

Of course, this is assuming we study with Yamato, during the weekday, and the weekend, if we don't. Our pace may become slower.

Yamato Trip Upcoming.

The Sword and Armor aren't actually there.

Will there be more kengan ashura characters
Oh man I'm quite happy that you are a fan of this amazing martial arts series mate! I'm exited to see what you have in store for us next.

*Shrug* Most of Sage's AGG Eastern Rhapsody (which is the AGG Quest I'm using as a Basis for this one) us Fire Emblem character pics. Figured I might as well have my own pic type for the Martial Arts Club.

For skills in my opinion we should continue to improve our empathy and mundane martial arts and wait to improve our supernatural ones until they are more relevant to the plot. Education depends on whenever our bro is available.
