@blankmask I think I already mentioned that the Drak'xarim prefer both nanotech and biotech.
Do the Drak'xarim have von Neumann style endless replicators?
Or do they restrict it so that it's like Hiro's microbots or MCU Tony's nanoarmors, ie the nanobots can reconfigure into virtually endless ways and assemble stuff with the proper input but is expressly non-self replicating.
And for biotech, what kind are we talking? Viruses and bio-cybernetic drones? Or like, organic guns like what tyranid uses? All of the above?

Basic idea is an ocean world with tons of mineral resources (though I hope we move past prometheum as a fuel given it's basically fossil fuel on crack, and well, those don't tend to be environmentally friendly), plus I figured simian aliens would be more likely to evolve in more humid, rainforest-esque jungles than the arctic or a volcano world.
The reason I chose very dangerous flora is I was always more partial to plants than animals when it comes to sci fi or fantasy. With our biotech, we may be able to create tons of fun stuff from studying it.
Lethal fauna, well, when paired with very dangerous flora, I can see why they'd evolve into a collectivist species given how dangerous the competition is.
The human and aeldari ruins are meant to be complementary in a way, essentially I envisioned it as DAoT humans establishing an outpost to research ancient aeldari ruins.
Edit:
Ultima because it's near the galactic edge, and hey, maybe our combination of nano and bio tech means we'll be able to make something useful from studying tyranid forces. And if the t'au are nearby, we have a back up plan in case we need reinforcements fast.
We're already a collectivist society, the Greater Good's close enough. Well, that and they're my favorite faction for being a lighter shade of grey (before stupid retcons making the ethereals into mustache twirling saturday cartoon villains instead of actually charismatic but dogmatic believers of the Greater Good) and actually innovating (before stupid retcons like somehow being able to wage war without FTL).
As for the planet, it'd be an interesting subversion of needing to explore past the star system of the homeworld before encountering sapient life. Plus, this means we don't just turtle up if we've got people we're interacting with.
