I've seen a number of Pokemon SIs that looked like they would be good if not for the fact that their story died so young.

Mind giving the names of the stories for some of the pokemon SIs you listed please, Flair? I recognise the Tyrunt, Hyphen's Kirlia, and the Mincino from the omake, but the rest are new to me and I'm always insterested in new stories like this.
Er, which stories are those? I don't recognize any of them.

@Krazyfan1 got most of them, but the ones I was directly referencing were Slippery, Early Bird, the unnamed one (see the Archaeology and Mawile omake), Trapped, Hyphen (not an SI), Cold Comfort, and I Thought This Was a Mystery Dungeon. I also had in mind Before The Destination, No, I Am the Bell!, Also-Ran (an SI, but not as a Pokemon), Small Medium at Large (also an SI-but-not-as-Pokemon), Fun and Adventure! (see the even newer omake), and some miscellaneous others.

...I may have kind of torn through most of the (tagged) Pokemon stories on SV a little while back. ^^;

I've seen a number of Pokemon SIs that looked like they would be good if not for the fact that their story died so young.

I agree, which is why I do not intend for this one to do the same... though, if I don't focus on my other stories as well, they'll die, or at least go even more dormant than some of them already have. As such, expect several "breaks" in the future - this would be one right now in fact, if I could kick my muse into working on literally anything else (Subsumption, Stand-In, TTTCT, etc). I'm apparently quite terrible at multitasking when it comes to my stories.

That does seem to be Nintendo's philosophy when it comes to making games (see the entire kirby franchise, the PokeDex, and the Paper Mario series)

Well, can't say I'm exactly averse to that aesthetic - you're talking to someone who based a bunch of fakemon off of literal Lovecraft creatures a few years ago.

Misdreavus, and later Mismagius, have always been my "save the last dance for me" favourite pokémon. But Rotom was one of my earliest exciting flavour-of-the-month favourites. I love ghosts, I love computers, and being a bit hidden in a haunted house made it feel really special. And then in Platinum it got some more support, with the special appliances! Neat, one of my favourites got a special storyline!

And then those special forms were in gen5 too. Well, OK. Continuity is nice, but they don't really feel special anymore. And in gen7, the pokédex is possessed? By a rotom? OK, this is getting silly, please stop. It's too much.

Honestly, while I thought the appliance forms were rather unnecessary, it was still a kind of cool feature, and I rather liked the Rotomdex in Alola as well. Not sure about how I feel about them using the idea in successive generations though. They should probably come up with something else, even if it's just changing the Pokemon they use to possess the dex, lest Rotom become so ubiquitous that it becomes outright annoying... which it already likely is for a fair few people.

Now it's gen8, and your phone is possessed. Your bike is possessed. The PC at the Pokécentre is possessed.

Soon, ALL electronics in the Pokemon world will be possessed, and the great Rotom Master Plan shall finally be complete. :V

Well I'm the first trainer then!

So you are! ;) I've threadmarked that as "Three-Ring Circus" for now, but as always, feel free to tell me if you think of a title of your own you'd prefer me to replace it with later.

It was theoretically possible I'd teleported in my sleep.

Ah, right, your character was psychic... heh, this almost sounds like the setup for a joke. "Two psychics and a fairy walk into a forest..."

They had a lot of plants, and the now-owner, Florinda, had an Oddish, which had recently evolved into a Gloom. This smell was Sweet Scent!

Hmm, this makes me wonder, does Sweet Scent's smell vary depending on the Pokemon using it? Obviously it's irrelevant in the games, but realistically, I'd imagine there'd be some evolutionary differences, especially since Mawile isn't a plant/Grass-type like most other Pokemon that use it... well, unless we suppose that Mawile is descended from Grass-types. Maybe there was more truth to that "honorary plant" comment back in chapter 3 than Mawile!me realized. :p

Mawile!me: "Well I wish I shared your enthusiasm, but given my current situation, I'm finding it sort of difficult at the moment."

How she expected to eat such a huge Pokémon though...

It wasn't intended here, but if it had been? Effort and tenacity can make MANY things possible.

Clearly, I was in the Insane Forest, in the Insane Region.

Honestly not a bad guess, considering the forest's actual name! Just a little to the left, and you'd have had it pretty much dead on.

We seem to have reached the point where there are more Apocrytha entries than actual chapters. if this rate of Omake-ing continues then this thread might well have to be renamed 'The Great Pokémon Omake Off' rather soon.

Assuming that we don't end up killing the author with happiness first, that is.

Hey Flairina, sorry it took so long to get a response back to you. I got buried with work over the last couple days.

Threadmarked! Did you have a name in mind for your story-to-be? I've just marked the crossover's name as ??? for the moment, but I'll gladly edit it in if you already had something specific in mind. :)
Unfortunately I don't (Yet), the story is still in the early planning stages and this Omake was just something I wanted to write to help me see if I could get my character's voice.

As such, I'm still a little iffy on just what I want to call it.

Seems I've been rather resourceful as of late. To be honest, I have no idea how I'd actually go about making such a thing, but I imagine that Mawile!me has found the time to figure it out.
I figured that MawileYou would probably at least try to find some way to carry around your worldly possessions so that you could free up your second mouth for biting/intimidation if you needed to.

A temporary backpack built using the resources you had on hand seems like an ok solution at least until you could get your jaws on something more permanent.

I find it quite amusing that from your/a Mincino's perspective, Mawile!me would be considered "tall", when I've basically been lamenting my utter lack of height since I got here. :p
Ahaha, yeah. A full grown Minccno is about 40 cm (Bulbapedia) including the ears which are about the same size as my head while Mawile stands at about 61 cm.

So from MinccinoMe's perspective you really are tall.
The third was "Where do I get a satchel like that?"
Dragonccino: *shudders * neveragainneveragainneveragainneveragain.

Flairwile: ... Huh, must be cute charm related.

Yeah, I think that the cute charm thing is going to be plot device one way or another, either as a means of getting MinccinoMe into, or out of trouble.

The gist of the outfit though I'm thinking it probably started with 'bribing' some hapless newbie coardinator (*cough* Dawn *cough*) and ended with Minccino me being forced to escape.

Battle of the abilities! Horror aura vs. cuteness aura, FIGHT!
Dragonccino: *Activates calm mind* Cuteness Intensifies

Mawile!me: I mean, if you want to clean it, I'm not exactly going to complain...

*quietly refrains from mentioning that the thing has been inside of my mouth for a fair amount of the time I've had it*
Dragonccino: Huh, I wonder how it got so many berry stains?

not sure how my semi-canceled Wimpod SI would do...
Probably flee on sight after snatching any leftovers....
Or help from a distance using ranged moves if you and Aster are battling a powerful dark type...

Ok, this might be late but on the previous topic of ghosts types and their nature, apparently in the anime, Acerola's shiny Mimikyu is actually the spirit of a dead Mimikyu instead of just being a ghost type.

Apparently people don't mind its undead nature.

It's un un dead and since:

-(-x) = x

thus, it is alive
But is it, really? This isn't so much the verbal/literary multi-negatives, but meta-physical(is that the right word?) ones, and besides that, I wrote this on a whim, and don't quite know how many times that would make this -thing- to have died.

To say nothing of some ghosts that might have came into existence as ghosts, wherein they might still be able to die after starting as an undead, and cancelling that out would still make their existence one of being 'dead'.

I always thought it was,
Something dies
it either becomes a ghost, or a ghost type pokemon.
if it dies again, it becomes the other option.
if it dies a third time, it goes to the afterlife

Pretty sure at that point you get isekai'd, no complaining, no playing chess with Death, not getting out of jail free card.

You're cursed to forever wander the mortal coil.

The afterlife is done with your shit.
