2 Spooky (A Ghost Pokemon Trainer Quest)

"Wow, that's not something I would have thought of." Alia said, surprised. "It's really cool though! I wish there were ancient ghost pokemon, but they don't really leave a fossil, haha."

"Hah, no kidding! Maybe they could revive them through psychic traces rather than physical ones since they're more energy and mental psychic energy." Rex speculated.
what is spirtomb? I kid, I kid, but that rock bullshit you had to do to grab one in diamond and pearl was annoying as hell.

[X] Send out Spooky and send that Sableye to sleep! Then Lick it to death!

Alia sent out Spooky in a snap. "Use hypnosis!"

The Sableye snapped at Spooky with it's claws but fell asleep in a heap in a second with a lucky and successful hypnosis. The third lick that Spooky did though woke it up and it scrambled away in a hurry.

"Aaahhh! After it!" She shouted. Running after it, Spooky and Alia barely managed to keep up even though it was injured. It eventually faltered and fell down and she threw a pokeball at it, feeling a little bad for the poor thing. She panted, worn out, and looked up to see a bushy short haired girl in a sundress in front of her. Her black locks were pushed back by a headband and her sundress was made of fine white cloth that seemed to glitter gold in the cave.

" ... You shouldn't be this deep in the cave." The girl said. Her face seemed to be frowning, but Alia couldn't really tell as it hadn't changed at all. She looked around and she was indeed deeper in than she intended to go, where all the stronger pokemon were.

"Ehehehe. Are you a strong trainer? Cause I could really use an escort." Alia said sheepishly.

" ... My brother will be along soon. He will escort us." She said. "My name is Akemi Kibe."

"Oh! I'm Alia." Alia said, offering a handshake to her.

Akemi took it delicately and shook like a limp Magikarp. "It's a pleasure to meet you." It didn't really sound like a pleasure.

"Akemi! I'm done with the surveying!" A older man called out from behind. He was dark skinned unlike Akemi, and had his hair in braids and wore a blue suit. "Who's this person?"

"This is Alia. She encountered me due to pursuing a Sableye." Akemi explained.

"Huh. They're not really any good unless you use a Sablenite." He commented. Alia frowned at him.

"All ghost pokemon are awesome." She defended.

"Sure, sure." He said, shrugging. "I suppose we have to make sure you don't get bombarded with the stronger pokemon around this area?"

Alia nodded, grimacing now. She really didn't like his attitude. They walked out together with the man's Manectric casually batting around the cave pokemon like they were toys. At the exit, he grimaced as he checked his phone.

"That cave has shit reception. Akemi gimme a moment, I have to return these calls." He said, walking away.

Alia admired the setting sun, wondering if she could take on the gym leader now.

" ... this town is so wasteful." Akemi said, softly.

"Eh? What, why?" Alia exclaimed, blinking. She hadn't seen people littering, or anything like that.

"All this land and ocean are wasting away, with no one using it." Alia looked around. Everything looked pretty clean.

What do you say?

"What do you think they should be doing with it?" Alia asked.

"There's plenty of ocean for fishing and tourism. Factories to process the fish and perhaps a casino to reduce worker stress." Akemi explained, clinically.

"That sounds kind of awful. Where will everyone on the island go?" Alia said, taken aback.

Akemi looked at her coldly. "They will work or they will go. I knew you wouldn't understand."

"Wait just a minute-," Alia said, fuming. You couldn't just displace people like that!

"Is she bothering you Akemi?" Her brother asked, walking back with his phone shut close. Akemi gave her a long look as Alia froze.

" ... No. She's just irritating, that's all." Akemi turned away to walk with him.

Irritating!? Her ghastly grabbed the back of her shirt and dragged her away as they walked away. Alia maturely calmed down hours later with a hot chocolate in the poke center when Rex sat across her looked mussed but excited with a grin.

"Hey Alia, I got my third badge!" He said, flipping his case open to show her.

"Oh neat!" She said, peering in at it. It was shiny.

"How was your day? You look like you went down in the caves again."

"Ugh. I met this jerk named Akemi Kibe who wants to turn Dewford town into some kind of soulless fish factory." Alia said sourly.

"Akemi Kibe?" Rex said, surprised. "Huh. I went to middle school with her."

"You did?! She must have been unbearable." Alia said, stroking Stuffy.

"Nah, she was alright." Rex paused. "I heard a lot about her, but I don't like to gossip about her. It's kinda bad."

Spooky gave him a gimlet glare that verged on a Mean Look. He laughed.

"Okay, that's kinda baiting. Then I'll tell you one thing. But only one."

What do you do?

[X] Tell me what happened in school.

"Tell me what happened in school." Alia asked with a mischievous smile that quickly disappeared at his grim look.

"Ah man, she was a quiet kid, nothing much happened until ... " He trailed off, frowning. "She had a breakdown I think. I remember being there and watching her fall apart. Akemi tore into her best friend and told a bunch of secrets that ruined their friendship before running away from school. She had to leave after that or her parents took her out."

"Oh."

"Yeah. She was in a bunch of clubs and high level classes, everyone thought the pressure finally got to her. She always did seem to take things really hard." Rex explained. "But ... she was really weird that day. Spacing out on questions and stuff. Idunno. It's really none of my business."

"That's awful." Alia had seen public breakdowns before. They were ugly and awful and hugs only did so much for someone who was falling apart.

"Yeah, I just feel bad for her. Especially considering other things. But that's all for now." He said, quietly.
