[X] Mardukth vs. Shantideva. No-one in command. 2001.

As well written as Nyx's stunt was, I don't really like the way it moves the social relationship between Dirk and Johnathan. It's antagonistic and frankly makes things worse.

[X] MOAR SIMS! You need dem simulation hours.
[X] Workout! You need to get fit to survive these things. (Your choice of Sports or Hitting the Gym)
-[X]- sports (we were a soccer player right?)
--[x] invite everyone else who wants to join. (If this requires the hangout choice, replace the third idk whatever with this one
[x] idk whatever

Socialization:

[X] Dad and the Siblings. (Yaaaaay Skype)
-[x] Amina mentioned pressure on your siblings, that isn't happening, is it?
I don't think this should be left till the video conference, I mean that's supposed to be a happy thing, and this topic would just make the entire atmosphere darker.
-[X] Additional Write in: See if you can use this call home to get dad to gather Sam and Vladimir in the same room for the video conference?
(schedules may conflict, but hey, trying to get cake and eat it too is a time honored tradition. Plus if they missed it, it's the thought that counts.)

-[x] How are they doing?
-[x] reassure them by talking about the training hours and the help you're getting from the experts
---[x] avoid telling them about the pain and Raj's simulated death, this will only pointlessly worry them
[X] Tang Ying
-[x] cheer him up, remind him that training occurs so mistakes don't happen.

[X] Mardukth vs. Shantideva. No-one in command. 2001.
I'll stunt up in a bit

[X] MOAR SIMS! You need dem simulation hours.
[X] Sparring!

All right, given there's very little chance of your vote losing due to you taking the time to make a stunt for it, mind if I ask why you feel sparring is the best choice here rather then, say, Weapon Training or The Cradle?

I ask this because the current crop of pilots already possessed a number of Marida's geared toward close combat, and during training we we're told our more advanced ballistic targeting made our Marida more effective for ranged combat. This is further reinforced by the fact that from what we can see of over Shahid Marida designs they seem to lean towards ranged combat as well. This seems too suggest we might get better returns focusing on that rather then learning how to hit things in melee better.

The Cradle on the other hand will likely help with our soul powers, which is the sort of thing Emir Marida (Rightous pentient) seemed to be specced for, and from the archives that seems to be one of the things going for John over the other pilots. It also might help raise Johnathan's effective Ghazali Score, which affects how much power he can put into his soul powers, as well as seemingly the strength of his siege field along with his ability to get through that of the enemy.

I admit there are other characters I'd like to have John socialize with over Tang and Kim from a pure evaluation of how much like each team members characterization so far, and I'd rather have John deploying with the two people who seemed to be the most skilled pilots so far in case something goes wrong, but given those choices are intrinsically tied to the stunt I doubt i'll get any headway.

All right, given there's very little chance of your vote losing due to you taking the time to make a stunt for it, mind if I ask why you feel sparring is the best choice here rather then, say, Weapon Training or The Cradle?

You do realize that our character is getting general training, right? He's a highschooler. He doesn't know how to do anything yet. He's going to get firearm training anyway, because if he doesn't, we're more likely to shoot ourselves in the foot then kill a Ma'jooj.

We are voting for which specific scenarios we want to be written out by the author based on personal interest. Your interest in min-maxing and making character decisions based on mechanical stats is appreciated, but unneeded.

I'm going to metagame here (not that you should mind, considering that's what a vast majority of your complaint is), and say that just because John's Marida is specced towards range does not mean we shouldn't spend time investing in close combat. If there's anything I've learned from playing a ranged character in the game this is (admittedly loosely) based off of, it's that Angels Ma'jooj are very, very fond of getting into close quarters combat. Should we focus on making John a super melee oriented character? No. What we should do is prepare ourselves for the eventuality of melee combat, so that when it does happen we don't endlessly botch our rolls.

The boring answer is that I thought sparring could make for a more interesting scenario to read, since the head we're riding in presumably has very little experience actually fighting anything himself, and fencing is a painful, terrible experience that I therefore think it would be fun to read; especially if you shake in the 'hang-out' option (like Dirk, I didn't stunt everything in my vote) with a 'training' activity, like what Eraser did in his vote. I guess there's all that mechanical stuff that that having played AdEva quite a bit, I've been made well aware of, but unless the game component is a rather explicit part of the narrative game, I usually err more towards the 'narrative' part than the game.

The fun answer is because I felt like it. :p

I said I would stunt something so here's that something

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Your skype pings. It's from Dad

-Hey Johnathan, how are you doing?

You pause for a second to look at the clock. It's currently 5pm on a Saturday here in the Cairo Fortress, which means that back in San Jose it's…. probably around 8am.

-I'm doing fine, is everyone else up yet?

-Good to hear that. And yeah everyone's up now. We're just finishing breakfast. You free for a call?

The second your dad responds, you press the video chat button on skype. The call connects almost instantly, and soon your screen is filled with the back of your father's head as he yells for your brother and sisters to join him. Their happy and excited voices fill your ears, and before you know it you can feel tears sliding down your cheeks. For the moment, you forget that you're currently a child solider training to fight monsters that are trying to destroy human civilization. At that moment, you're just a teenager who dearly misses his family.

"Hey Johnathan you okay?"

"Yeah," you pause to wipe the tears off your face, "yeah I'm okay. I just miss you guys."

"I miss you too Bro! With you gone and Dad always at work I'm stuck here surrounded by girls." James's statement immediately sets off a series of counter complaints from your sisters, and soon you'll all laughing and joking like you've never left home.

You spend a good two hour just talking with your family about life, telling them about the various people you've met (James was shocked when he learned you've meet Usman Usman and that he's currently your mentor) and learning about how their life has been going. When Dad brings up the fact that he's planning on renting a large screen for a video conference later in the month, you suggest that they get Sam and Vladimir to join as well.

As the call begins to wind down and you're preparing to say goodbye, you suddenly remember Amina's words.

"Hey Johnathon, what's wrong? Your face just suddenly got a scowl." You pause. Should you ask them about it? Surely it wasn't happening right? "Hey don't clam up on us. If you're worried about something just tell us."

"Heh you're right." You sigh. "You know how I mentioned that Amina is Usman's little sister right? Well… she kinda vented at me. Said that there would be a lot of pressure on you guys to become me… to become a pilot. That isn't happening right?"

----------------

I'll let Havoc write the rest if this happens because Idk if there actually is pressure going on in the background, nor do I know how the siblings would react.

Also realized that I don't have any deployment options on my original vote so

Deployment
[x]Raj Rai
[x]Amina:

Raj is new to this thing and could probably use someone who won't be as hard on him, as well as someone he's decently comfortable around. Amina is there to provide experience should something go horribly wrong like a random attack.

I should probably also stunt the soccer scene too if I actually want to be able to get everyone to join in aswell

Clash of Titans

It was november fifteenth, 2001, and shit was fucked. After Juggernaut's rampage across Georgia, seven more of the Enemy had attacked. Millions were already refugees, armies had been dashed, nuclear armaments emptied, entire regions abandoned as radioactive wastes. Humanity as a whole had no way to predict, manage, or effectively combat its ravenous, genocidal foes, and across the entire planet morale was legendarily low. At any day, at any time, a monster, a primeval beast, could appear and devastate cities, and there was not a thing anyone could do about it.

Then two of the monsters appeared at once, both in the Southern US. The first was Mardukth, an eight-legged behemoth of ravenous maws and mountain-rending talons, crawled from the ground atop a nuclear launch facility in Arizona. The other, Shantideva, a titan of shattered crystal and necrotic flesh with five, piston-like arms, emerged from the northern tip of the Gulf of California. At first both simply headed for the nearest large population center, though Mardukth paused long enough to devour every missile and vehicle at the facility it emerged atop, and it seemed to the world that the old pattern would repeat itself once more.

Then, without warning or explanation, both simply stopped, turned away from their targets, and simultaneously made a mad dash for a region in Arizona between Tucson and Phoenix. Military forces, which at the time were mustering to attempt to draw the Ma'Jooj away from population centers, raced behind them almost on principle, under the assumption that if the Ma'Jooj were looking for something then obviously we wanted to know what the hell it was.

The pair changed course several times, each time zero-ing on some invisible, moving point, until they practically stumbled into each other on a long, empty stretch of Arizona highway. The military set up a cordon several miles away, watching as they waited for nuclear weapons and superheavy armaments to reach the battlefield. There was a brief moment where the Ma'Jooj simply stared at each other, and then Mardukth regurgitated the nuclear missiles it had swallowed, flinging them at Shantideva in a cataclysmic opening volley, and battle was joined.

Mardukth was fast, deadly, and had gotten a crucial first strike in with its nuclear armaments. It struck swiftly, viciously, and utterly without remorse. But Shantideva was unbelievably tough and far stronger than its foe, the nukes had hurt but not gotten close to killing it, and it countered with never-ending barrages of pummeling blows. The battle lasted nearly seven minutes, neither creature willing to back down, but eventually, bloody, crippled and exhausted, Shantideva cracked Mardukth's last skull open and pummeled its brain into so much mush. The titan roared its triumph, and turned its attention back on its quarry.

Then the United States Army hit it with five nukes to the face, resulting in the quickest, cleanest, and cheapest Enemy Kill until the introduction of the Marida in 2003. It was quite the PR coup.

After the battle, multiple soldiers in the military cordon reported an unmarked black van with no license plates fleeing the blast zone, slipping through the cordon in an improbable display of driving prowess, evidently unbothered by its proximity to the nuclear detonations. However, no follow-up evidence regarding the van was found, and investigations into the matter proved fruitless. The Black Van is still a subject of conspiracy theories, research, and the occasional investigation to this day, and it's a common subject of movies positing the true motivation behind the Enemies' never-ending assaults.

(It also caused a small spike in purchases of black vans in late 2001 and early 2002, after the reports first began to gain major news coverage.)

Edit: It's 1 AM, so Imma go over and edit this tomorrow evening.

I like most of Nyxistence's vote... but I'm not sure why we're not focusing on the cradle?
We've apparently got some decent potential there, so why wouldn't we use that?

[x] Whatever has us in the Cradle

... huh.

Very interesting.

Edit: Wait, of course! It was Kaji! In the van! With ADAM! And Misato was driving!

[x] Whatever has us in the Cradle

I can't explain Nyx's reasoning, but I can explain why I decided not to go with the cradle. I don't think it's in character for Johnathon to go do extra training in the cradle. For one he took the revelation that he was a wizard with a "huh, okay, neat but well what?" response. He's unsure about it's ramifications etc, and Johnathon doesn't strike me as a super inquisitive/curious type of person. He had a panic attack upon learning he was going to pilot robots, and quite frankly he's probably a little more mature than normal 17 year olds due to the fact that he's the oldest child in a single parent household and had a decent amount of responsibilities placed on him to look over his younger siblings.

My current view on Johnathon's main priorities
1) stay alive. This is why I chose extra sim hours. To Johnathon's knowledge, being able to properly pilot his mech is probably the most important factor on whether he stays alive or not. After all, if he screws up in an actual deployment, he dies/ gets horribly injured.

2/3) keep some connection to his past life. Why I chose calling his father and spending one of our socialization on his family, as well as sports. Johnathon is a teen who reluctantly decided to pilot because he feels it's his duty, but in the end he's still a teenager who loves his family (and he loves his family, because he was basically the second parent in his family). It's also why I chose soccer for the workout, its something that would be familiar and comforting to Johnathon.

2/3) make connections here in his new life. After all, he's still a teenager. He's going to want friends. Why I chose to have Johnathon invite others to play soccer with him.

Learning how to be a wizard probably isn't that high up yet. Maybe after actual combat when he feels useless (or not useful enough) or some time learning about what being a wizard actually means (which should occur naturally due to training. Remember this vote is for extra stuff on top of our mandated training.) its probably not something too high on his mind. Oh he probably does wonder what it can do and stuff, but not enough to try and actively cultivate his talent right now. I feel if he got a primer on what being a wizard means he'll be satisfied for now.

Remember this is all just my interpretation, so I could be horribly wrong.

And I also should get to working on that soccer stunt I said I would write. And figure out what the third thing I want to put on my vote is.

We should stay on the Cradle and on Sims. We got an absurdly high Ghanzi Score, unheard of. I can't believe that He would not take training in this, especially since he learn that only him and 7 other people in his organization can use the cradle.

To do otherwise is insane.

While from an OOC viewpoint yes working on the cradle makes sense, in character I see no real reason to spend EXTRA training on it. Remember the vote is for time other than mandatory training, which we are probably getting. Unless we aren't ready for the training yet, in which case we probably shouldn't try to learn until the experts say we're ready.

In character Johnathan thinks
Actually that isn't that much of a surprise, considering. It also sounds like a really lame wizard. "I think I've got it," you say, "Uh, thanks. Seriously."

From the sounds of it, whatever it is isn't that interesting to Johnathan at first glance. Also with the way we've been playing Johnathan so far we've seen he's cautious (planning on stuff before meeting the recruiter, nearly just spending the helicopter ride running conversations in his head etc.) so him going and putting extra effort onto the cradle at this point in time just seems off.

Again my interpretation could be completely off, but I don't think spending time on the cradle makes sense in character.

edit: Also still writing up a stunt for the soccer scene.

Well, this ain't a straight narrative. It's a quest. We are hijacking his brain (only partially considering the quality of the stunts and havoc's writing), so even if it's meta I don't feel the need to sabotage our training for the sake of narrative (even if it's not really sabotage).

...I was gonna make a joke about Johnathan's Ghazali score being a result of SpaceBattles influence, but it kinda falls flat now.

It's a quest, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be internally consistent. It's arguable that going to the cradle is in character, but saying "well it's a quest so we don't need to be in character" isn't a particularly good argument.

BUT with enough stunting and explanation every one of the choices can be explained and still be considered plausable.

I can probably write/stunt a story about how our main protagonist is trying to get Dick Dastardy out of his high horse, by getting any kind of cradle practice he can get his hands on, even close combat practice.

Or that he really wants to keep out of harm's way, so he shunned close combat practice, following the golden rule of "run away!!"

Or that he really REALLY wants to keep out of harm's way, so he took up close combat practice... so he can properly defend himself while trying to run away.

OR have him affected and shamed by Amina's scornful glance at slacking off, and thus following her to melee practice.

Or any other tons of reasons.

And because of the stunting/explanation, they'll ALL be still in-character. That's what a Quest's choices are after all*.

(all of the above, regarding the "close combat practice" choice, on both sides of the fence.)

*and if it is really that OOC? I assume Havoc's "veto" is precisely for that; Havoc would surely step in and say 'NOPE' if someone voted: "Protagonist gets close combat practice through real life stabby stabby by murdering [insert character here]"...

Edit: that being said, you can go ahead and feel free to vote for what you feel our protagonist should do; that's what a Quest's vote IS FOR: Your choice on how all of this goes down.

Just don't expect us all to play the same way as you...

I recognize that, and I'm not disagreeing with it. I'm saying that "Well, it's out of character BUT it's a Quest so who cares" isn't really a good argument to do something. The possibility of a good stunt explaining why something is in character does not mean that people should vote for it unless you actually write the stunt. If you believe that something is in character? By all means, vote for it, explain your reasoning, stunt it if you feel up to it. It may not convince me, or people who have already voted, but it's a great deal more constructive for people who are still deciding and for the thread in general than simply saying "Well it could be".

[X] Hangout! You want to spend more time on your social life before you start fighting life or death battles (Each time you pick this you can Hang Out with another person during the socialization stage)
--->[X] Amina Usman
--->[X] Kim Hyun-Soon
[X] MOAR SIMS! You need dem simulation hours.
[X] Weapon Training. You mostly shoot things, so you should practice at the range.

In order: Amina intrigues me the most, because she knows the set up the best, has high levels of talent already, and can explain a lot of things about Baibars and Usman (maybe, if she feels like it). We've already gotten on her radar in a positive way after we followed her that first day, and didn't collapse at her gut-punch. Plus, you've got to like a girl who flirts/friendly chats with a sock to the gut of a guy she's just met and apparently thinks is good enough to be a buddy.
Kim was decent in combat, already had a successful mission with you, and looks like she could really use a friend. Her dad has some serious issue to explain with her.

I'd like to spend time working in the Cradle to see just what we can do with Soul powers, but all the Soul wizardry in the world is useless if we can't make our Marida walk and move when we need it to. So Sim time first, plus the weapons training to go with it. Once we know how to ride the bike, then we can work on tricks.

Test Deployment:
--->[X] Amina Usman
--->[X] Kim Hyun-Soon

Same reasons as above. I really want to see what having Amina as a wingman is like, and we already know we can trust Kim to work with us.

Interludes:
[X] Usman Usman

He's the Most Interesting Pilot in the World. And the way he keeps making us question our sexuality makes me laugh.

We've seen the sim version of this with Amina and Dirk. Let's learn about the real thing.

Okay finally finished with the soccer stunt. I may have butchered the characterization of a few of the character, idk. I also may have made Raj a little more depressed then he probably actually is, but then again he did get trashed on his first sim run.

I've also figured out what my final vote is, so

[X] MOAR SIMS! You need dem simulation hours.
[X] Workout! You need to get fit to survive these things. (Your choice of Sports or Hitting the Gym)
-[X]- sports (we were a soccer player right?)

------------------------------------
It's Sunday, and you're sitting in your room with a bunch of nervous energy. Your schedule, thankfully, was light today; there were only a few hours of simulation training in the morning that you've already completed, along with some extra hours just to be sure. So now that it's after lunch and your schedule is actually empty, you have no idea what to do.

That is, until your eyes notice your soccer ball on the floor. You smile as you move to pick it up, reminiscing a bit about the various games you've played with your high school soccer team back home.

You manage to get two feet away from your door when you realize you have no idea where you could possibly play soccer. The four foot entertainment center was awesome and all, but from what you remember there wasn't exactly a soccer field in it. Nor did you remember seeing a soccer field in your tour earlier.

"Huh. Well that's a problem. I'm going to need to find a field." You scratch your head as you wonder where you could find a soccer field. "Guess I should ask Amina, she should know."

"I should know what?" You nearly jump out of your shoes as you spin around to face a smiling Amina. "Whoa there, it's just me."

You laugh sheepishly after you finish turning. "Ah… well" you point to the soccer ball in your hand "I kinda want to play some soccer, but I don't know if there's a soccer field in this base and well you're more familiar with the base so umm yeah…"

Amina smiles and nods, "yeah I know where there's a soccer field. And I'll show you how to get to it if you invite me along."

"Great! And sure you can come along. Playing soccer alone is kinda boring. Actually... why don't we try and get everyone else to join as well?"

"I don't see why not."

"k. You go get the girls and I'll grab the guys and we'll meet back here in about 10 15 minutes?"

With that you split up. The first door you knock on is Tang Ying's. "Hey, want to play soccer?"

"umm, sure I don't really have anything to do right now anyways. Let me get my shoes on and stuff."

After Tang Ying gets ready, you too head to invite Dirk. Sure he's a pretentious dick, but well you're going to be working with him to fight monsters, so you should probably be courteous to him as well and at least offer.

"Yes?"

"Hey Dirk. We're going to go play some soccer and I was wondering whether you would like to join us."

"Soccer? You mean Football right? And sure I'll join I don't see why I shouldn't."

The last door you knock on is Raj's door. He opens the door partially, and you're meet with a depressed looking Raj who sighs out a "Yes?"

"Whoa Raj. You okay?"

"I'm fine." Another sigh.

"Well okay." You decide not to press further right now, you know it'll just make him defensive right now. "So do you have anything you're doing right now?"

"Nooo."

"Well we're planning on playing some soccer or football depending on where you're from."

"I see…" another sigh "well in that case you should just go on without me."

"Huh why?"

"Cause I don't know how to play football." With that statement he closes the door.

"Wait!" You raise your hand to knock again when Dirk speaks up.

"let him go Johnathan. If he doesn't know how to play he'll just drag us down, and he doesn't seem to want to join anyways."

You sigh and lower you hand. "First off Dirk, it's not like we're playing a competitive game, so his skill doesn't really matter. Secondly, I think he does want to join us." Before Dirk could respond again you toss him your soccer ball "Look, how about this Dirk. You and Tang Ying head down to the end of the hallway to meet with Amina and the others and give me five minutes to try and convince Raj to come. If I can't do that I'll come without him okay?"

"Whatever man." Dirk turns and waves "If you want to waste five minutes trying to convince him it's not my problem."

You sigh, then turn and knock on Raj's door again.

"I said you should go without me."

"Look Raj." You pause, not really sure what to say. "Look, if you're worried that much about not being able to play, don't worry. I'll teach you, and soccer's easy to learn anyways. I'm sure you'll pick it up in no time. Plus it'll be more fun if you join us."

Raj opens his door a little. "You sure?"

You nod "I'm sure. Go put on a good pair of shoes and we'll go join the others okay?"

Raj nods, the faintest flicker of a smile on his face as he turns back to grab his stuff before you two head off to join the others.

Upon joining the others, you set off. Unfortunately it turns out Amina couldn't convince Khadijah and it seems that your impromptu soccer lesson club has gained one Kim Hyun-Soon, but other than that the group's there were no problems.

The trip to the soccer field didn't take too long. You spend the time following Amina through various corridors and riding a tram (they have trams in the base? How big is this place anyways?) explaining the rules of soccer to Raj and Kim.

Once you arrive at the indoor field, you split off into two groups. You go and grab another soccer ball from the nearby storage room and begin to teach Kim and Raj the basics of dribbling and passing while Amina, Dirk, and Tang take up the other half of the field and begin playing. Both Kim and Raj pick up the basics pretty quickly, with Raj putting his all into learning.

This state of affairs continues for about 15 minutes before Usman Usman walks in with two other men you recognize as mechanics. "So, I heard my sister decided to play some soccer without inviting me."

Amina rolls her eyes as she stops the ball at her feet. "I thought you said you were busy."

"I was. And now I'm not. So how about a friendly game? Me, David and Lammert here verse the six of you?"

Dirk scoffs. "Three verses six? Even if Kim and Raj are newbies you'll still be outmatched."

"I don't know Dirk." Amina shrugs "I know them, and they're all pretty good soccer players. Depending on how good Johnathon is, they could either give us a run for our money, or completely stomp us." She sighs "I'm game"

You turn to Kim and Raj "You guys okay with joining them?" Kim just nods, but Raj looks a bit apprehensive. "Don't worry Raj, you'll do fine."
----------------------
Its break time, and the game is currently 3-1 against you. The game started off as an unmitigated disaster for your team. Even though you had a numbers advantage, and even though you, Amina, and Drik are all pretty good soccer players, while Tang was a decent goalie, your group had no teamwork. And Usman's group was good. Raj also dropped out of the game about ten minutes in, citing exhaustion and went to sit on the sidelines to watch. Eventually though, your team began to pull together some semblance of teamwork, bouncing the ball between yourself, Amina, and Dirk to keep away from Usman and score a goal.

You sit down next to a despondent looking Raj, drinking from a bottle of water. "Hey"

"Hey"

You pause to catch your breath "You sure you don't want to join in again?"

"It's probably better that I stay out. I'll only make things worse if I join." He lets out a pathetic laugh "I don't think soccer is the sport for me."
You lean back. "Hey Raj. You want to know about my first real soccer game?"

"It was probably a game where you won the game for your team right?" he grumbles.

You let out a laugh at this. "Won? Man I wish we won that game. No I single handily lost that game for my team." You take a swig out of the water bottle. "It was back in middle school. I had just joined the team, and it was near the end of our first game. Don't even remember which team we were against, but we were tied when one of our players manages to trip and hurt his ankle. So I get subbed in. Man I was so nervous. I don't even know why I was nervous, thinking back on it. But I was, and so two minutes before the match ends, I get the ball and pass it. Only problem is, I passed it to a member of the opposing team, who then take the opportunity delivered to him with both feet and score the goal that tipped the game in their favor. Man was my team pissed at me."

You're lying to me aren't you?"

"Nope. Nearly quit the team too. But I didn't. I decided I was going to try my best to do better. It took a while, the next few games I played pretty badly. But eventually I did get better, and by the time I came here I was pretty close to team captain on my high school team. So don't give up just because you're not playing as well as me or Amina. Just try your best okay? Without pushing yourself too hard" You stand up and extend your hand to Raj. The faintest flicker of a smile crosses his face as he grabs your hand.

"Okay. I'll try again."

"Good." You pull him up.

It's nearing the end of the game, and it's tied 4-4. You've agreed on the next point scored to determine the winner. Tang grabs the ball out of the air before Lammert is able score, before passing it to Dirk. You and Amina rush down the field, forcing Usman to choose one player to guard as Lammert attempt to stall Drik and Kim as they pass the ball between each other down the field. Usman makes a decision, and moves towards Amina. Kim sees the opportunity, and sends the ball towards you. The pass is clumsy; Lammert is nearly able to intercept it and you're forced to change your course to prevent it from going out of bounds. Unfortunately, this give enough time for Usman to get in front of you, and soon you find it very hard to go anywhere. Usman had expertly placed himself to block any attempts by you to pass to Amina, Lammert is still properly covering Dirk, and you know from experience that attempting to dribble past Usman results in Usman stealing the ball from you. Until, out of the corner of your eye.

"Raj!" you send the ball towards him. It's a light, simple pass that Usman is out of position to intercept, and the ball reaches Raj without incident. "Aim for the goal." Raj looks a little confused before dribbling a bit down the field and taking a clumsy kick. The ball flies towards the goal. David leaps from his position in the center of the goal in an attempt to block it. He misses the ball. Which then bounces off of one of the goal posts and back onto the field.

Only for Amina to come speeding out of nowhere to head butt the ball into the goal. Usman slows down his chase after Amina, laughing as Dirk, Tang and Kim cross the field to congratulate her. You catch your breath and walk up next to Raj.

"Hey. Good work."

Raj looks at you quizzically. "I did not score."

You smile at him. "No, but you gave Amina the perfect set up for the goal. If you didn't try to make that goal, we wouldn't have just won." Raj nods, a smile forming on his face. "So, if I decide to come back here to play more soccer, would you want to join me?" You extend your hand to him again.

Raj gabs your hand and shakes it. "I would like that." With that the two of you head off and rejoined the others.

Man I spent way to much time writing this up. Way too much time.

I need a thesaurus to get the synonyms for "Love" necessary to adequately explain my appreciation of everything about this. This is EVERYTHING that both Evangelion AND Pacific Rim SHOULD have been, but isn't.

All my love, all my likes, all my attention.
