Dark Prince of Camelot

I frankly think this over focus on the waifu is going to bite us back in the ass pretty horribly considering how we keep ignoring and leaving to die all our other ties for it, when Gemma herself eventually has to realize that Mordred doesn't care about her, it's Gala that he craves and sees.

He goes and tells Annabelle that she and her friends aren't his enemies because they aren't his mother, and their knights, but when it comes to Gemma, the dead corpse, he couldn't bear leave dead was Gala's, when he was off high as a kite the woman he was dancing with was a woman who should apologize for "leaving" him.

I mean I suppose it's interesting to see what a goddamn unhealthy mess Mordred is, but if we actually want him and the knights to no longer be enemies, and instead allies, for him to start caring for Gemma and not Gala, then steps have to be made in revealing the truth, we have to actually show them all that we care for their safety, that we don't want them to suffer a tragedy, or fail against the Forces of Darkness if we want them to play ball with us. Instead of just being satisfied in continuing to live out our fantasies on Gemma, and her unwittingly fueling it till the jig is up

Of course we, and maybe her as well who the hell knows could also accept she truly is Gala, meaning Annabelle and her friends are Artura and her knights, our enemies and we should start treating them as such, and maybe Gala herself too if her moral fiber stayed between each life.

Vote tally. Oh for fuck's sake. Can't we just focus on the life or death situation for one second instead of our waifu?

Also, something to consider for Gemma. She's the Galahad Expy, and one of the more unfortunate bits that Galahad has to deal with is A) Subsuming the entirety of his being into submission to his God, and B) in some iterations being bodily ascended into heaven. Now, I'm not saying that Gemma is going to go that way, but I'll admit to some concern that her response to this entire trip (in both meanings of the word) if Mor doesn't provide adequate care, will be to Find Religion.

Now, ordinarily that'd be bad enough, who wants Galahad the Living Plot Device? That's no fun for anyone! But, and here's the kicker, there are some nasty entities running around as gods in this setting. One particular group, the Ladies of the Lake who we've already run into, is probably still attached to the local iteration of Lancelot. Now, is a chain of events leading to Gemma getting entrapped by evil Eldritch Watery Wenches likely? Almost certainly not, but why take chances? :p
Depending on which version you read, half the bloody cast of the Arthurian Mythos is basically Living Plot Devices.
Galahad probably sticks out more because a.) our modern "sensibilities" find his overt religiosity, piety, and virtue a bit jarring, and b.) his central role in the finding and retrieval of the Grail. When it's not Percival doing so, anyway.

Really, it comes down to writing, and making sure, if she does decide she wants greater answers to the Big Questions, that she doesn't turn to the Ladies of the Lake or the like.

I mean, there's nothing inherently bad about a character being religious, in Arthurian stories or otherwise.

[X] Call Occult Ingredients

I dont know what to choose between the Knights and Gemma. I don't know if Annabelle really needs our help. I don't know if Gemma can wait for drugs to wear off before we tell her we are soul bonded to our mother. I do know I dont want anything bad to happen to Terri and Bone and this call is important for that goal.
[X] Tend to Gemma
Remembering just how unsteady Gemma is made me change my vote.

....The worst thing that can happen with Gemma is hurt feelings, the worst thing that could happen with Annabelle is her being crippled like Mordred after having his Heraldry shattered.

.......stop with the stupid paranoia. Gemma can deal with things for a few minutes while we make sure Annabelle isn't dead or crippled.

Well, the entire reason why we can only select one option is because of the time limit. So if we can eliminate that time limit, couldn't we do all three options then?

[X] Ask if there's a way to prevent the third rush. Would activating our Heraldry work?

edit: removing second line as it counted as a separate vote

Annabelle is mere meters from her friends which include 2 of the mightiest human magic users and several knights. Her screaming like a banshee is likely to alarm them. In case they cant help her directly, they can teleport or fly directly to someone who can. Furthermore, if I was in such a situation I would prioritize getting my friend medical attention over answering my phone.

The best course of action is trying to stop Gemma from freaking out before the next rush hits. Her freaking out and getting a bad trip is going to make everything worse. Once this is over and we have a clear head again we can tackle the Annabelle situation and the other situations in a calm manner.

This is not a vote about waifus or not caring about annabelle it is about making haste slowly.

It is about tackling the serious problems with a clear head.

Actually Gavin and Mathew didn't come to faerie land with her and the girls. Besides none of them have the prerequisite knowledge of the fae, Heraldries, and Tylwyth like we do. They are not properly equipped to deal with a crippled Annabelle in enemy territory without our help.

We can always have a talk with Gemma when we aren't high.

I went back to check to be sure, but as far as I can tell they are not in enemy territory. They're floating invisibilly above a park. They were about to patrol their territory, not scout out enemy territory.
Also considering Gavin's comments, the boys can open a door right where they are.

No you aren't "making haste slowly", Gally has given us a choice between dealing with one of three serious problems and you guys are saying one choice (calling the knights) is totally meaningless because we won't be able to do anything or it won't help or whatever in favour of providing emotional comfort to Gemma.

You don't even know anything about the magic fairy drug to even be able to authoritatively say if it will induce a "bad trip". Either the QM is terrible at constructing choices or each choice actually matters.

Gemma is not going to "find religion" with the Ladies of the Lake or what ever people are saying will happen if we don't comfort her right this very second. She's merely sad her crush has a "soul bond" with some other girl and feeling really horrible because it almost got him killed, whereas Annabelle got a crowbar right to her soul and we're the only one who can tell the people who can help her about what happened.

Because once again Matthew couldn't cure her curse before he was made aware of it and right now he doesn't know that Annabelle got fried with enough lightning to kill an elephant

Gemma is emotionally hurt, but ultimately that's all that is. We can tend to her later after we're done with the trip. Annabelle is seriously hurt now and her friends have no idea what happened to her or how. They need to know what's wrong before they can help her.

Emotional hurt is, uh, a pretty big deal? Especially for people in dire straits already, who are in a place they normally never would be in because they have already been pushed too far, are doing things they normally never would be, and have access and means to do things they normally never would do.

And a curse is very different from acute wounds, even if those wounds are inflicted through the soul. A curse is meant to stick around and subtly ruin things for you, and the shocking Mordred passed to Annabelle is...not. It's energy, without direction.

The stakes of her being in a bad headspace mentally are much lower than Annabelle's injury, not to mention that we can tend to her after we're off this trip whereas Annabelle's seriously hurt and needs treatment now.

I like Gemma, but honestly what's going on wit her is of much lower priority when compared to Annabelle.

Like, I get where people are coming from wanting to make sure Anabelle's okay, but let's not treat the Gemma choice like it's superfluous. "Being in a bad headspace" kills people. "Being in bad headspace", if left to fester, could lead to someone taking their life.

More immediately, Gemma's minutes out from another phase of this super-duper-fairy-drug trip, which we don't know the stages of, and could well lead to her doing something dangerous to herself and/or others.

There's valid reasons to choose calling the Breakfast Club, but there's valid reasons to choose tending Gemma.

I added my sub-vote because to me the primary "call the BC" concern is "let them know what happened", and I view Alex as a semi-trusted source they will take seriously enough to effectively treat her.

Random thought: If her Heraldry is broken like Mordred's was, and Mordred is "outed" as Morgan....he could always temporarily take her place in fighting Big Bad Nasties. Wouldn't that be a Shocking Twist worthy of a Magical Girl Anime? :p

It's like people forgot that being in a bad headspace triggered the whole fucking Civil War to begin with.

Nah, we're just chasing waifus. You sure nailed it.

You know what would make Gemma feel bad?

Letting one of her friends who has just taken direct damage to her fucking soul suffer and be potentially crippled because we prioritized her emotional state over saving someone's life. A someone who happens to be her friend.

Well, duh. Otherwise we wouldn't have a neat 50/50 split on the options.

Calling the Breakfast Club involves revealing that Annabelle is Morgan's soulbond and that Gemma nearly killed her, right after trying to flee as far as the bus would take her to escape the bloody mess that is the Knights' business. It is one of those things that, in absense of doing something to remedy it, could lead to a person trying to run away even farther and disappearing off the radar, only to be seen next time as a host for some alien god or other.

We are weakened by the near-death experience, we can't guarantee that the Third Rush would affect our body in the same way as Gemma's, and that she would still be there when we wake up.

I also think that the lasting consequences in Annabelle's case would be not the physical/soul injury - it would heal in time as Mordred's did, with our help or without - but the burning of the bridges that we made with her and the team.

This is one of the reasons I am having such a hard time picking between the choices. Both have potential to turn absolutely nasty in several ways. I think I'll be fine with either.

One thing for sure, though, if Gemma wins, we must have Mordred take some time to sort through his thoughts on Gemma/Gala, and what they are/were to him. Gemma told him she does not know what his deal with Gala was, and does not care. I wanted to write a rebuttal to Shura12305's post above, but the more I think about it, the less I have to argue with.
