Bleach: Derailed

Huh, at this rate we're getting healing magic anyways.

2. Ichigo's current goal is rapid advancement so that he can sneak out and see his family safely.

But if we, say, focused purely on combat, we'd be able to get a seated position pretty quickly in the 11th division, wouldn't we? We don't NEED a high position. The 20th seat alone would give us the chance to go to the human world.

Not that I'm advocating going to 11th Division in particular. I'm just wondering what benefits the 1st division has above all the other ones. Not very familiar with Bleach lore, unfortunately.

Which division are we aiming for, specifically?

The thing to remain is Ichigo's aim is to get assigned duty in the Living World so he can check in on his family. So certain squads are better or worse for that.

The First, obviously.

Not a good option.

Squad Summary:

One: Hyper-elitist, hyper-orthodox. Not a great option.
Two: Creepy ninja cult. Mostly recruit people decent with stealth, but second squad does a lot of SS's dirty work, which Ichigo would vigorously object to.
Three: GIN. AVOID.
Four: Healing squad, nice place overall, Ichigo could fit in fine, buuut...they're the healing squad. They don't do Living world assignment.
Five: Aizen. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID.
Six: Byakuya's squad. Big on proper behaviour but surprisingly lax on orthodoxy. (Byakuya willingly made renji 2nd seat). Could get living world posts, but wouldn't get help with it.
Seven: Captain Konamura's squad. aka Mr Fox. aka 'Old Man Genocide did nothing wrong, in his life, ever', might be some personality conflicts
Eight: Easygoing, decent option.
Nine: Tousen. Avoid.
Ten: Hitsugaya...dunno about this one tbh, didn't get much of a feel on them. Could be decent?
Eleven: Mixed bag. They like anyone who likes fighting, but that's it. Very low opinion of them across SS. Any other captain would be surprised if any squad member even knew how to read. Not actually likely to get much support from them for anything outside 'hitting things with swords'
Twelve: There are two types of people that get into squad twelve. People who get turned into explosive experiments, and weirdos who conduct creepy experiments. We don't want to be one, and don't have the skills to be the other.
Thirteen: Really really nice squad with really nice captain. There's a good chance Ukitake would be willing to swing things so we could get assigned specifically to Karakura. He's a cool dude like that.

Thirteen defs the best option for Ichigo's current plan of checking on his family.

Obviously I should've indicated that I was being tongue in cheek. Somehow.

second division would help us the most in controlling our spiritual pressure in an attempt to make us stealthy, as sensing spiritual presences is a thing quite a few people can do. Seeing the little Bee frustrated is also a bonus every time.

according to lore Jūshirō Ukitake, Byakuya Kuchiki and Retsu Unohana all are Kido masters, for personal growth best is 2nd and 11th. 2nd got Soi-fon she is a supreme taskmaster, she uses do or dies style of training, while 11th got kenpachi there you will have countless fight to the death experience. Other Captains are not that concerned with their subordinates and mostly follow live and let live mindset. 13th is cool true but if you wish to increase personal ability it's worst because captain due to his illness can not supervise or help you most of time.

So that we might slay our opposition.
[x] movement magic
So that we may pursue our foes.
[x] barrier magic
So that we may utterly shut down all attempts to counterattack.

[X] Healing Magic
[X] Movement Magic
[X] Hand to hand

My logic here is simple. Ichigo naturally wants to help others. Healing magic will allow him to, movement magic helps getting to the person to help heal them. And we need something Combat wise, so doing hand to hand will be good.

Also, we still train in the other skills. Just not nearly as hard.

I think with this, we will get around six offers. Gin's squad, Aizen's, Tousen's, Soi-fon's, Unohana's and maybe Kenpachi's due to hand to hand combat.
