Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

I'm not worried about Roose's loyalty.

I'm concerned about too many similarities with the council for Bobby B quest.

Roose is a good choice, anyway. Though there was an interesting argument made for Manderly as Master of Whispers.

Though we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves talking about our future council. The war isn't over.

Arianne doesn't rule Dorne yet...giving Doran the boot shouldn't be too hard but maybe we can help it along in some way.

And we still have to find and destroy F!Aegon. We think he's in the northern Riverlands, but that's still some searching to do.

Edit: Just thinking back a few updates...wondering which houses we unmade in the Reach and Stormlands. The relevant update mentioned us making (and unmaking) about two dozen houses.

These are the ones from the ASOIAF wiki, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were some missing. The bolded houses were mentioned in the thread/updates or in rolz.

Stormlands:
Marcher Lords: Caron, Dondarrion, Selmy, Swann

Noble Houses: Bolling, Buckler, Cafferen, Errol, Estermont, Fell, Gower, Grandison, Hasty, Herston, Horpe, Kellington, Lonmouth, Mertyns, Morrigen, Musgood, Peasbury, Penrose, Rogers, Seaworth, Staedmon, Swygert, Tarth, Trant, Tudbury, Wagstaff, Wensington, Whitehead, Wylde

Landed Knights: Connington

Estermont and Tarth were loyal, or at least neutral, I think. And of course Seaworth was loyal. If any of the Marcher Lords stayed with Renly until the end and lost everything I think Charcolt would have noted it. Still leaves a lot of possibilities, though.

Penrose was the only Stormlander house specifically mentioned as staying with Renly until the end. Though the update mentions multiple houses had done so.

Reach:

Noble Houses: Ambrose, Appleton, Ashford, Beesbury, Blackbar, Bulwer, Caswell, Cockshaw, Cordwayner, Costayne, Crane, Cuy, Florent, Hightower, Meadows, Merryweather, Mullendore, Oakheart, Peake, Redwyne, Rowan, Shermer, Tarly, Varner, Vyrwel

Shield Islands: Chester, Grimm, Hewett, Serry

Other Houses: Ball, Bridges, Bushy, Conklyn, Dunn, Durwell, Footly, Fossoway of Cider Hall, Graceford, Graves, Hastwyck, Hunt, Hutcheson, Inchfield, Kidwell, Leygood, Lowther, Lyberr, Middlebury, Norcross, Norridge, Oldflowers, Orme, Pommingham, Redding, Rhysling, Risley, Roxton, Sloane, Stackhouse, Uffering, Webber, Westbrook, Willum, Woodwright, Wythers, Yelshire

Landed Knights: Fossoway of New Barrel, Osgrey of Standfast

Shit...the Reach has a lot of noble houses.

We know the Peakes and Redwynes stayed with Renly and the Tyrells until the end. The Peakes lost everything and Desmera Redwyne is a 'guest' of the court until we marry her off to a loyal man. Hightowers and Florents were mentioned to leave soon enough. And of course Tarly defected and is the new LP.

Still, the houses that stayed with Renly until the end were probably some of the 'other' ones.

ok not completely up to date but people remember that Tyene has the face of an angel but she is a poison mistress this most likely is an attempt to kill Robb

This was brought up multiple times and also refuted.

iandude rolled for Tyene and what she thought about Robb. It was a 90+ roll. She's genuine about blaming F!Aegon.

[] A good king is merciful. A good king doesn't punish the innocent for the crimes of the dead. Right? Right? Ok fuck it, send Edric and Dacey out of the tent.
-[] Don't send Dacey out of the tent.

I realize that they probably won't kill us, but it just seems suicidal to be alone with two people who were enemies until a few minutes ago.

The vote's long over.

21. An Unexpected Offer
You had been on the march when the envoy came. He was a brawny man, with a shaggy beard and a shock of orange hair. "Ser Rolly Duckfield, Kingsguard to His Grace King Aegon, the Sixth of His Name."

He had come under a banner of truce, requesting a face-to-face meeting between the two men who called themselves rightful ruler of Westeros. A part of you was tempted to send him back running and to double the speed of your march so as to finally get this over with. But another part of you was curious. The Targaryens had lost any allies they might have called upon (or would soon - with the Dornish girls returning to Sunspear to 'retire' Prince Doran).

So what on earth could they expect to gain from such a meeting? An assassination, perhaps. But surely not, not if they had any intention of ruling Westeros. To attack a man under a banner of peace was unthinkable. Even a boy raised in Essos would have learned of the Westerosi tradition and the fate of those who defied it.

So that was the choice presented before you. Continue your march and face the Targaryens in the field (a likely victory, though perhaps a costly one given the time they'd had to handpick your battlefield) or meet them first to hear what Jon's older brother had to say to you.

[] Accept the truce. You will meet with this King Aegon.
[] Decline the truce. You're here to kill dragons and eat pigeon pie. And you're all out of fucking pigeons.

[X] Accept the truce. You will meet with this King Aegon.

If only because a Robert should never run out of pigeon pie, which the other option implies.

I don't get it. Just a couple of decisions earlier we were all gung ho to gank this Targ filth asap, and now we are borderline granting him legitimency?

The only way I can see to agree to meet is if we have his envoy followed by a faceless man or other skilled assassin(s), and gank FAegon, to put paid to the Targs once and for all.

[X] Decline the truce. You're here to kill dragons and eat pigeon pie. And you're all out of fucking pigeons.

I don't want to pull an Aerys and get captured at not-Duskendale for going to meet with enemies like a tool. Let's just break them and move on.

This is the guy that planned to burn King's Landing so he could rule the ashes. Who hired an assassin and had Stannis killed.

Do you think he cares about traditions of honorable conduct if his claim and life are on the line?

Can we do writeins? Let's invite him to meet us in open view right in front of our army. We're the King the people want and the one with the support of the lords, so let's make him come to us as a petitioner, not have us join him as an equal.

Aegon here is literal filth lol. Gank him. Assassination is well within his arsenal and I don't wanna die here.

Exactly. Aegon is a puppet of the Golden Company and The Spider. They engineered all of this death and misery, all of Kings Landing burned, Stannis assassinated, Oberyn dead.

Fuck this son of a Lyseni whore
