Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

Our name is not Robert, it's Robb. We are not a Baratheon, we're a Stark. Robert II implies the continuation of the Baratheon dynasty in name. If there's a Robert Stark II, people will expect there to have been a Robert Stark I. The basic rules of noble naming conventions would implore us to take the name Robert, Second of his name of House Baratheon when we marry Shireen, which is something I'm not and never will be in favor of. Our name is Robb and House Stark shall have domain from now on. It's best that everyone gets that into their heads as soon as possible.
Our full name is Robert. Like Bran's name is Brandon and Ned's name is Eddard. And Lord Eddard Stark sounds much more official and grand than Lord Ned Stark.

Let's not use a nickname as our official name. People can still call us Robb, but legally it is Robert.

[X] King Robert II

edit: @Charcolt, will choosing Robert make us take the Baratheon name? Can't we be King Robert Stark?

To clarify, Robb's full name is Robb. But Robb is a regional variation of Robert (akin to Ferdinand [German] <--> Fernand [French] <--> Fernando [Spanish]) so it's a matter of if he wants to frame this ascension as a rightful continuation of the Baratheon claim (even if named Stark) in King Robert's namesake and goodnephew, or a new dynasty elevated by acclamation from the Lords of Westeros.

Additionally, regnal numbers are linked to titles not dynasties. If Robb for some reason named his son Aegon, that son would likely take the throne as Aegon VI not Aegon I. Of course there's also the argument that the specific title of 'King on the Iron Throne' is defunct, which is one likely to be strengthened should Robb keep his own name.

Um, no. Bran's name is Brandon, and Bran is a nickname. Ned's name is Eddard, and Ned is a nickname. That's explicitly stated in canon. Nowhere is it said anywhere in canon that Robb's actual name is Robert, because it's not. Certainly Robb was named for Robert, but his name is Robb. Nothing more, and nothing less. And so it should remain.

EDIT: D'oh! Ninja'd by @Charcolt.

We still get to call our descendants, Starks anyway.

I don't think we should change the name our parents gave us.

[X] King Robb I

Nothing could go wrong making decisions like that out of sentimentality. :V

Eh, as long as we keep the Stark name, we should be Robert for the sake of legitimacy, if nothing else. There is little risk of revolt from the Northern lords. This should make it easier for the southrons to accept us

Plus it just sounds grander and more official. Calling their king 'Robb' sounds like people being too familiar.

[X] King Robert II

Continuation of the Baratheon claim, through the female line, with this being the start of a new dynasty.
