Quick thought occurred to me between updates:

How sure are we that these cultivation worlds were 'Chaos-aligned' as the modern 'day' of the setting indicates?

Like, what I've seen so far indicates that the cultivators are almost like extremophile adaptations towards higher concentrations of warp phenomena. Alternatively/additionally, it might be a similar situation to the Beasts of Caliban, where a warp-focused device or artifact is channeling otherwise corruptible energies into a safer form- namely the flora and fauna of the world.

Basically what I'm getting at here, is that the cultivator worlds could be older than the modern Imperium. Possibly even pre-Great Crusade.

They also could be very new, and only recently set up by various greater Daemons, and so on.

On a related note, I'm pretty sure canonically that the Eye of Terror can be seen from most planets in the Galaxy. If that's true, I'm wondering what Yon and his society would have called it.

Thematically, Yon's world has to be old enough to be littered with random ancient relics/inheritances/lost arts of quality unmatched in the modern day for cultivators to find and kill each other over, but that doesn't imply any specific age.

tangentially, does anyone more versed in 40k lore know if the Treatise of Ten Thousand Blossoms is a reference to anything other than the Lotus Prince

Theres a bit of a pattern that Chaos tends to be at least as dangerous as you think they are. The reverse is not true, coz a manifested effect won't stop until it runs out of 'fuel', and a manifest effect is pretty convincing of its own threat.

The Imperium credits Chaos with all capabilities and all evils, as an omnipresent yet amorphous threat only countered by blind dogma.

So the Imperium attracts uncompromising, insidious forms of Chaos. Even a few mutations, regardless of if they are chaotic, chemical, technological or biological, are seen as daemonic encroachment and would soon attract some if they weren't already daemonic.

Meanwhile here in cultivator world, their dangers are recognized along with their boons. And so they get the Fae type of daemonic influence and godly attention where the risk isn't as absolute. And they know you can get LOTS out of submitting to the Gods attention, but if you fuck up or are just unlucky they fuck you up. Which is more or less what happens

As for the various Fallen/Heretical Imperials they get fast tracked to hell because well...they think it is hell anyway.

Thats sort of how the Immaterium goes anyway. Imperials are like brittle rock, they either resist it all or they shatter. Cultivators are more like plants, they just try to grow around it , lean on it, until they are big and strong enough to stand unassisted.

Probably "the Heavens", because I'm pretty sure they're inside it and thus they don't see anything else when they look up at the sky.

Damn. We are Chaos aligned. Chaos Space Marine gene seeds are impotent and we are over-aged for implantation.

Pity. Here I thought the Preomnor, Omophagea, Oolitic Kidney, Neuroglottis & Betcher's Gland has the highest compatibility with us thanks to our Iron Kettle Stomach.

Never mind. Just advance in proper cultivation techniques and not become a half-Astartes like Kor Phaeron.
Over-aged? Bah, a TRUE Cultivator would realise the solution is obviously to purify our body until it is no different from that of a child's, then use our skill with Alchemy, Medicine and Qi to bridge the gap until the organs can successfully take root within us. Never give up, never give in!

I gotta say I agree with this sort of? Like, I suspect that if we could manage to get ahold of some Space Marine organs, and the right cultivation technique, we could implant them successfully and this derive benefits.

Yeah, I don't think bastardized Anathematic implantations would mesh well with our existing cultivation even if we could figure out a way to prevent age-based rejection. Reasonably high chance that the Emprah had "kill any Chaos mutant/cultivator that implants this" as one of his secondary design goals, too.
