[X] Seka, the Phoenix Realm; another realm of sects and cultivators

It seems like it could be fun to see an actual military conflict between cultivators and a Warhammer 40k Chaos Army. I assume that this would be a true battle rather then the Chaos worshippers simply demanding submission with the threat of nuclear destruction as otherwise there would be no point to bring in fresh conscripts to gain combat experience.

With the Ego Death of their ancestor, he had volunteered as an inner disciple to help regain his clan's standing.
Ah! Confirmed! Clan members volunteering as an inner resulted in some manner of political benefits for the clan. (This ties back into some of the "what is Lady Va likely doing" questions from a fair while back.)

Tvar Oli was another inner disciple, but where the Ruy were a notable clan with a lineage that included old monsters and even the Ascended, the Tvar were more recent and their most notable members were elders in branch sects. That meant that he was actually a few years older than Yon, and had been essentially voluntold to join as part of the sect's tithe to the Celestials.
...and yet another little bit of insight into a socio-political system of limited, unclear, but nonzero importance for Yon's life going forward.

...and we also get a confirm that there are other cultivator worlds out there. Not most of them, and maybe not even many of them, but at least a few.

That said....

This looks interesting, and I think I want to leave the bit where we visit another cultivator world for a time when we've had a chance to advance further.

I want to see what other insights we might get by studying this different cultivating culture.

We are relatively quite high ranked among the drafted cultivators, if we are ever going to do well sacking a place it is right now. Better for that place to be certain to have cultivation resources that Yon can steal.

If you want cultivator loot, hidden realms traditionally have much shinier toys.
To be fair, this is in the context of hidden realms that were made by, or at least previously inhabited by, cultivators of a high level. There's no guarantee that such is the case with Oublie. Given the name, in fact, I have suspicion that it's more like some kind prison-world.

Certainly, there's still a real possibility of good loot, but I wouldn't say that we can bank on Hidden Realm Treasure Vaults.

There are many ways to have horrible things happen to you if you're a mortal in a xianxia world.

If you're near someone who's decided to go with "eat all the mortals" cultivation, though, it's pretty much guaranteed.

The righteous sects are better than the demonic sects because if you go to work for the righteous sects, you might live.

Black-and-Grey morality, and all that.
In very broad terms I think you get the following result:
-Righteous - This is mainly a PR term, but the thing with keeping a positive reputation is that most of your members would behave in line with what is publicly considered a boon by others, and so your general Sect level direction is to behave in righteous ways and take righteous stances.

-Demonic - This is ALSO mainly a PR term, albeit one that few would choose to embrace due to a lack of social benefits. So most Demonic sects are mostly going to be those sects where their core cultivation means that everyone would see them as enemies regardless(i.e. you actually HAVE to eat or torture people, so you might as well get good at it)...or Sects that pissed off the local power enough to be declared demonic/in rebellion, and might as well go for the forbidden powerups since their reputation is toast anyway.

-Orthodox - This is a culture term. Orthodox just means you follow normal culture trappings of status and social norms. You have, or at least pretend to have heritage, pedigree and probably sponsorship or alliance from one of the other orthodox sects.

-Unorthodox - This is for those that don't bother to even pretend to follow the culture norms. Nudist cultivators, poison cultivators, masochist cultivators, etc. They generally have a poor reputation or none at all, but nobody actually thinks they are evil, just weird.

-Heretical/Deviant - This is really only in relation to another sect, where they take the core practices of the parent sect and changed them in ways the parent doesn't like. Very often demonic or unorthodox, mostly coz the more influential parent sect is going to shit on them wherever possible.

-Mercenary/Mercantile - These guys provide essential services like drugs, transport, and raw materials, but nobody respects them because they only want to grow their fiscal portfolio rather than go for cosmic power.
