One fun detail I can't help but point out:
One was a rather handsome bell–stolen from the church that had been sacked on a raid somewhere in the Continent. Well wrought of solid bronze, decorated with images of saints and angels–it was a magnificent look! It wasn't thought of to be useful to be melted down–given the complexity of bronze to re-cast once melted–but the merchant who eventually happened upon it thought it would be a nice curio for an art piece.
As far as everyone else knows, Audrey is currently paying the amount of money a village generates in 5 years for a 'nice curio'.

Sure, we know that she is actually buying a powerful Treasure that will greatly enhance her combat potential, but any onlookers instead see a foreigner spending more money than most peasants see their entire lives on a pretty bell. That she will carry across the seas and presumeably then put on display in her mansion.

We might've reached our highest levels of Arrogant Noblewoman Energy yet.

(Audrey is also seemingly getting overcharged for a piece of Bram Ironjaw merch, but I think that is more understandable for your average Norseman)

So, I feel like speculating about what Monks and Nuns do, in part since we picked one up recently.

We know that they are priest track cultivators who don't typically use their priestly powers, and that they gather together in numbers at monestsries and convents.

I think that they basically function as zeal generators. There are a large number of them, and they can basically spend their zeal freely and they are in a religious order so their Grace is probably pretty good from Communions if nothing else.

Monks investing zeal in decades and at least Soma and Hama is really good return over time. Each Decade is about a century of added lifespan plus bonuses from Soma, so as long as the next decade costs less than 600 times their grace it is a net benefit.

Now, being church affiliated there's no way that thei feudal lord their xonvent is in can really ask for much of a zeal tithe, but having a large zeal reserve nearby means that if a monster pops up in your lands you know the Convent can convince another Knight to help out, as they can hint at zeal as an incentive.

Aside from this, they probably also engage in low tier crafting much like their real life counterparts to make sure they have enough food and fuel and such, and maybe Chalice like Decorations if priests get those.

Considering that monasteries like Cluny got massive amounts of money and influence from royal gifts in exchange for praying for and on the behalf of kings- monasteries as Zeal generators actually makes a huge amount of sense.

We know that they are the guys who make Knightly Armour, we went to Juleswain Abbey to get our set and the place was full of "brother-smiths". So, they're probably the dedicated crafters for the Carolingian system.

Speaking of Zeal generators, picking up the Nail will increase Audrey's yearly Zeal generation by 3,48%

Everybody, please say thank you to Bram Ironjaw for having such wonderfully holy teeth!

It would prove an exciting accent to the Bargate Ironstone currently forming the Foundations of her Temple
I've been meaning to ask: what is the actual process and experience of installing stone, wood and Decorations like?
Does the knight just sit down to meditate and pray and the material vanish? Since construction skill hasn't been an emphasized knightly trait I doubt that they're manually building their internal Temple.

Is it a matter of going to a Priest and having them do the construction?

Paint works fine for runes, it's the lowest power and longest lasting option. Audrey can't use it because she doesn't have Odin's bloodline.
Wait, is it just a blood descent from Odin that's all that's required? It's a big thing in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles that the House of Cerdic (aka the House of Wessex) is descended from Odin. As in big enough that the Chronicles were playing up such a pedigree *after* pushing out the Danes and bringing back Edward the Confessor. Alfred the Great pulling out rune magic would be such a flex.

I think it's that and believing Odin is real, but if you're claiming him as an ancestor publically then you probably think he at least was a real guy that existed.

You also have to be in the Norse cultural sphere, it can't really be gamed so easily.

Idle thought.
If we managed to win Round two, we can commission something from the forges right?
Could we ask for Horse Barding as our reward or would that be too much?

Depending on the materials and such the second tier reward might be about as good as Sunder. It would be nice to return Sunder to our family promptly.

Funnily enough, we were going to have Reinald suggest that if you folks didn't come up with it yourselves, as that is the sort of thing he would think of first.

A full set of barding might be a bit beyond a Round 2 reward, depending on circumstance and how much Ironjaw enjoyed your bout, but you could certainly get a set of half-barding. The smiths of Bornholm are simply not very used to making barding, however, and so it will take them longer than the tournament goes on for to actually make it for you.

So, I had an Idea for a Rote using the Light Revelation

Essentially, it's an Inverse of the Cloak of Invisibly, a flare of light that draws the eyes and gaze, and a declaration of intent by the users. "Have no fear for I am here!" to draw enemy attention and aggression towards the knight and to draw eyes away from an ally or objective. A taunt that bright and eye catching that few can resist.

  • [X] Plan Charge It!
-[X] Purchase the Warrior Saint's Bell, a Growth Decoration that aids in coordinating allies and subordinates on the field of battle. Granting instinctual knowledge of your actions to up to (Decade) Allies, as well as more general transmission of your will to all allies in earshot. This allows for easy use of coordinated attacks, and raises the bar to suffer from collateral damage considerably. (5 Wealth, will not be available later)
-[X] Purchase the Nail of Martyrs, a Growth Decoration that aids in piercing even the toughest hides, reducing Damage Reduction against your attacks by (Decade x 5), as well as producing (Decade) Zeal per year. Also has an effect on Rebuke and other forms of Denial equal to (Decade/2), stacking with other effects. (3 Wealth, will not be available later)
-[X] Commission a Superior Lance–this is a simple enough project for the artisans in Bornholm, with most of the expense simply in having a material that can regrow when it's inevitably broken. You have a few options with this… (There's plenty of artisans in Bornholm, you'll get another chance before you leave–though certainly not at a discount, so expect a 2 Wealth cost)
--[X] Order it now, with the understanding you'll collect it when you leave (1 Wealth)

-[X] Put in an order for a shipment of Bornholm Shale–this is a Stone Foundation Material that will count as a Resilience material, raising your Damage Reduction by 10 for the cost of 2 Stone Slots. (2 Wealth now–2 more by the time you leave, for 4 total)
-[X] If you really feel you need a little more coin, there's a fair resale market here too… You could sell one of the pieces of equipment you don't need, or potentially unload the full set and maybe get a little extra. -[x] Purchase the Pair of Fine Franciscas, this will give you an additional threshold of damage on any Rotes using the throwing-axes, as well as a backup in case one is lost or broken. Another thing to consider for our reward (or at least eventual panoply) might be some kind of warhorn. Audrey is set to be a pretty great general/captain between her tactics and her various Charismata suited to leading men into battle. Seeing if we can't make a Light Prayer that combos with something like a horn to bolster the morale of our own troops or make the enemy waver at it's call seems pretty appropriate.

All things considered it's probably not something we should prioritize for now, but given Roland and Oliphant, I imagine Audrey could probably get up to serious shenanigans with one.

I feel like the Bell acts like a warhorn already

Yeah, I don't think Audrey's going to be an amazing general, but she'll probably be one of the best Captains. Give her a squad of elites and she'll wreak utter havoc with them.

could we get a sword equal to or better then the one we have now?

Don't worry about a sword, Sunder's the best you're going to get for a good while--higher quality might exist, but Compatibility is more important than weapon quality, and Sunders' compatibility with your style is exceptionally high.

Would there be enough time to install the decorations before the tournament starts or are we going in without them?

I'm thinking you might have time to slot one by the third round or so, but not for the first couple fights. For obvious reasons, it'll be the Nail, as that has the most immediate relevance to you.
