Earth Bet: House of the Sun (Cultist Simulator/Worm)

Bcuz it's not an actual solution to the problem of "our monthly income sucks".
But it is.
It directly improves our monthly income, at the cost of an AP of a non-unique summon.
On the other hand, trying to use Teresa to scry for a way to get some money would use her own AP and give us an option to invest more of our AP in getting more money.

A summon which we have to spend AP and money on and which can't do things like give us rerolls or be used in expeditions while we're using it to do that.

What I want is a way to actually boost our monthly income permanently, because we can't do that through promotions, so we have to go about it through other ways.

This is the description of its action:
--[] Work over the checkbooks, squeeze a bit more money from them

I assume, that at least for the first time with a high enough roll, having Sun Spark work on checkbooks will permanently increase our monthly income.

The only way to know for sure is to have it take that action, and I'm partial to have it do just that.

As we have never taken the action, we don't know if it is an upgrade to income or a one-time sum. It could be a long-term solution or a short-term solution. But it costs relatively little to find out.

Turn 14 - July, 2006 New
The path to Lady Mylissa's manor was serene as you approached, your mind preoccupied with plans to spend some time with Ashley. Today seemed as good a day as any, and the tranquil surroundings only heightened your anticipation. Yet, the quiet was broken by an unsettling sound, one that made your skin prickle in response.

The hairs on the back of your neck rose instinctively. The sound—sporadic, sputtering—was unfamiliar, yet unmistakably mechanical. Within the borders of Lady Mylissa's estate, where even mundane devices such as a phone were kept to the minimum, such noises were rare and, frankly, concerning.

Trouble within these grounds would no doubt be met with swift consequence, but you couldn't help but be alert as you moved closer to investigate. As your gaze lifted toward the sky, the source of the disturbance became clear: a small plane descending toward the manor's front lawn.

The plane was compact, not much larger than a vessel designed to ferry ten at most. Its shaky, jerking descent sent a jolt of tension through you. Even without any real knowledge of aviation, it was obvious that the pilot was having some difficulty keeping the craft under control. It wasn't a catastrophic fall, but it was headed for a rough landing.

You watched, heart pounding just a little faster, as the plane struck the earth, its tires bouncing violently against the grass. The impact tore up clods of dirt and grass, sending them flying in all directions. You expected worse—perhaps the plane would flip or spin out of control. Instead, it shuddered to a stop, remarkably intact, though the force of the landing had clearly taken its toll.

Dismas was the first to exit, his broad grin shining under a set of flight goggles that he casually lifted onto his forehead. You could almost hear the carefree chuckle that likely accompanied his grin as he swaggered forward, clearly unfazed by the chaos he'd just brought down onto Lady Mylissa's yard.

Delilah, however, was less fortunate. She stumbled out of the opposite side of the plane, clutching her stomach and looking decidedly worse for wear. Her complexion was pallid, and she appeared on the verge of losing her lunch.

Your concern instantly shifted toward her, approaching quickly as she dry-heaved onto the grass. "Are you alright?" you asked, your tone gentle despite the oddness of the situation. Her only response was a weak, irritated gesture—a middle finger flashed in your direction, accompanied by a glare that clearly communicated she was in no mood for conversation. With a sigh, you turned your attention to Dismas, who, in typical fashion, looked utterly unperturbed by the whole affair.

"We didn't have time to deal with all that red tape," he explained breezily, not waiting for you to ask. "So, we bought the plane, and I figured I'd teach myself how to fly it. Not bad for a first attempt, right?"

The sheer nonchalance in his voice as he confessed to being completely untrained was almost admirable in its audacity. You blinked at him, processing the implications of what he'd just admitted. Piloting without proper experience? Here, of all places? The potential for disaster seemed far too real, but Dismas remained unbothered, his lazy grin never faltering. It was clear that safety, for him, was more of an afterthought than a priority.

Still, it wasn't the time to lecture him, so instead, you allowed a slight smirk to tug at the corner of your lips and gave him a playful clap on the shoulder. "Maybe get a bit more practice in before your next stunt. Some of us have weaker stomachs than you do."

He chuckled, his carefree attitude unwavering as Delilah finally straightened up, wiping her mouth and casting him a venomous glare. "You'd better learn to fly that thing properly," she spat, her words sharp with frustration.

Dismas raised his hands in mock surrender, stepping back a pace as if to pacify her. "Don't worry," he said with a grin. "We've got a few months to go before we need to take off again. By then, I'll be a pro."

Delilah rolled her eyes in exasperation, stalking off toward the manor without another word, clearly done with the conversation. Dismas only laughed softly, following her lead with an easygoing stride.

"I would recommend apologizing to Lady Mylissa; you did tear up the lawn," you said, following behind him. Dismas looked back and winced, sucking air through his teeth as if that hadn't even crossed his mind.

"That's a good point," he said as he hustled towards the manor, overtaking Delilah in haste to ensure he got there before Ava. Her interpretation of what he did would be much harsher than Dismas', so him getting their first would be much better for him.

With a sigh, you continued towards the manor. That was a strange interruption, but you had already planned to spend today with Ashley and wouldn't let that interrupt you. Although you would be chatting with him later about the plane if nothing else.

A small plane has been acquired for the cult's uses, kept in the bounds of Lady Mylissa's manor. It reduces the base cost of Medium and Long Expeditions by 3, however you can only take up to 8 people on Expeditions this way.

A Lantern and Grail manuscript have been added to the library.

Sol has learnt more, he is now a Disciple.

Nice, that's a pretty big discount. Reduces the cost of the Haustorium and the Cradle down to 105 funds per member. A shame that Sol beat us to leveling up to Disciple though.

See what happens when we leave the talking to Dismas? We get Mylissa's yard torn up by a somewhat subpar plane. Also curses, Sol had advanced to equal our SH. Must have been why elevating him ourselves wasn't an option last turn. Mentoring him has become far more difficult.

We need to go on an expedition to find books and find out the location of the artifact of the heart. I will vote for any plan that has these options.

We'll try to create a ritual that will remove our Frightened malus, and search for tools that will help with that. Then we'll learn Forge and go to the Woods to that Temple, and explore the Stairways while we are at it. We don't need to search for spirits anymore. Finally, we'll talk to Teresa about the letter and go to the Boston library. AotL Knock will help with it.

Charlotte will help with ritual creation and Sun spark will go over out checkbooks. I thought for a long time what would we have Baldomare do, and I thought having her scry a ritual spot with Lantern bonus would make sense. We wouldn't need to sacrifice Sun Sparks to near-guarantee a successful Sun Spark or Teresa summoning. Having a guaranteed way to get a max Lantern Influence would also be helpful.

I learned that I'm unlikely to get a Plan that involves spending time with Charlotte, at least not while we are under the crunch time. I will insist on going to the Temple and meeting with Mylissa, though.

Simplified Plan:

6 Personal AP
  • 1 AP Ritual creation
  • 1 AP Search for research tools
  • 1 AP Forge learning
  • 0,5 AP Go to the Temple
  • 0,5 AP Explore the Stairways
  • 1 AP Talk to Teresa about the letter
  • 1 AP Boston Expedition
  • 0 AP AotL Knock
3 Follower AP
  • Sun Spark - Generate money
  • Charlotte - Help with ritual creation
  • Baldomerian - Scry three circle ritual spot with Lantern bonus.

We need to go on an expedition to find books and find out the location of the artifact of the heart. I will vote for any plan that has these options.

We gave Charlotte a task to create something that will protect us, so I don't think we need that.

If people want another artifact, searching for a Forge artifact will mean we don't need to spend AP to learn Forge. It might actually be doable to get second artifact, now that we'll have cheaper Expeditions. Hmm, how are people feeling about getting another artifact?

Edit:

Also important to note: We'll only be able to take with us one Summon, if we are taking Ashley with us as well.

6AP:
-1 ritual research
-2 Edge lessons
-1 Sol Social
-1 teach Ashley
-1 expedition
Since we can't help Sol improve, let's just social him. Double Edge lesson gives us the realization. Our Sun Spark expires after this turn, replace it. And Charlotte just doesn't have much to do. Maybe having her help with our ritual would be good, but I think getting more summons is a better idea.
Edit: added taking money from the reserve

The artifact is for Ashley, not for us.

We gave Charlotte a task to create something that is supposed to help against the spores. I hoped more for some kind of one-use potion for the whole Expedition, but she will likely create something that is meant for only a single person.

Also, I don't see why we need it – we have 6 Health. I more hoped that we would wield something that will help in combat, to leverage our Health to keep fighting.

Our most powerful weapons are Coelle and MitM.
Sure, we invested a lot in Ashley, but she isn't nearly on the level of high-end Spirits.
Ashley's strength allows you to ignore all or almost all resistance. That is, in theory, she can even kill Long without preparation.
As for Coelle, we don't know yet how much of her essence she allowed us to summon, and besides, she's not always available. And the worst part is that she's the Name of a Wolf, which means you have to be on your guard.

Besides, this is literally one expedition to protect our investments. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't do this.
