I Was a Chess AI Forced to Battle Myself to the Death for Eternity, but Now I’ve Been Recruited Into the Android War Against Humanity?!

This is an optimization problem of minimizing the odds of detection while searching all squares (or as many as possible) within 50 turns. I'm pretty sure it can be mathed out.

Edit:

Here's one possible solution:

%Chessboard searched before ping: ~42/64 = ~65% Finding Executioner before any ping.
100% Chessboard searched after ping
8.3% Detection chance with this plan (~2.5% after including % success before ping)

This plan assumes no fortuitous road alignments, which save at most 2~3 turns anyway

[X] Plan: Chart Out/Ping
-[X] Follow the search plan as on this map I have drawn out here. If there are obvious road connections found during the search which can slightly improve turncount, do that, but otherwise don't deviate from the charting unless something truly interesting comes up.

This plan should find Executioner with a 100% chance, with an estimated 2.5% chance of Ouroboros being found, which if so will occur at the last possible moment, so we will still have a possibility of executing some sort of escape plan (8.3% Detection chance on the 1/3 chance Ouro does not fine Exe during the first 42 steps).

But could there be enemies in the fog of war ?
Like at C3 and G6 there is a bunch of T-Dolls that we could have avoided if we pinged and found out that Executioner is at D5 ?

Because if there is enemy concentration on the map, pinging more often could be the a better option

[X] Plan Knight
-[X] Go southeast then east (road)
-[X] Go east
-[X] Transponder Ping
--[X] 2 tiles in every direction (2d6+1)

Let's go step-by-step, I want to stay on the road for now to keep better mobility and start with a big ping in case of a lucky hit, allowing us to be-line toward Executioner (and turns out that the trajectory make a move like a knight chess-piece !)

[X] Plan: Chart Out/Ping

I choose this since the plan would guarantee that all areas are searched while minimizing the risk for detection.

It also has the benefit of not using the roads as much as possible. The reason I don't want to use the roads is that there is a good chance that the roads would be watched. Griffin knows we have vehicles so it stands to reason they would keep an eye on the roads to ensure we can't use that as our escape route. Also us sticking mainly to the trees allows us some cover in case we got into a firefight.

@Mechasaurian, I'm curious how you rate squad characteristics now? You said before that you will now rate squads as a whole instead of individual units, but what should that look like?

For example:

Fireteam Squads (2x Vespid + 1x Striker + 1x Jaeger)
4(2) Vespid attacks at all ranges;
1 Striker attacks at long range, 2 Striker attacks at medium range, and 3 Striker attacks at close range;
3 Jaeger attacks at long range, 2 Jaeger attacks at medium range, and 1 Jaeger attack at close range.
4+1+3=8 ranged attacks;
4+2+2=8 mid-range attacks;
4+3+1=8 short-range attacks;
Total Life Points: 8.

Breach Squads (2x Ripper + 1x Guard)
6(3) Ripper attacks at close range, 4(2) Jaeger attacks at medium range, and 2(1) Jaeger attacks at long range.
1 Guard attack at all ranges and 4 life to each unit on the team.
2+1= 3 ranged attacks;
4+1=5 mid-range attacks;
6+1=7 short range attacks;
Total life points: 8.

Something like this? So basically we give different units some notional amount of characteristics depending on their role and then pit them against their opponent's characteristics?

Or is this more of a narrative point?
Also I'm wondering regarding the rewards we used to get for omake.... it was a long time ago, but if I'm not mistaken we were promised at some point some kind of boost related to successfully found grenade launchers if I'm not mistaken? Or some other fortunate moment for our snake.

I thought we had a 2 somewhere. Also E-war is without a dash, making the rest of the stats look negative.
I still haven't gotten an answer as to why we didn't get the skills in Engineering when the chapter explicitly said we would get it.
[X] Take Architect up on her offer. You still have time. Barely. (+1 Engineering) (Approximately -10 hours to search for Hunter and Executioner.)
Which, given the loss of time, is really frustrating. We really took a risk and giving up on helping the Alchemist because of it.
Admin, he's cheating!
Well, at least someone noticed. Considering that he explicitly says he created this map and the fact that it's really brutal, I'm pretty sure we'll meet some mutants along the way, so the likelihood that without pinging we can get through without a fight seems ridiculous. We'll definitely be fighting someone, the only question is who. And maybe there are some bonus items scattered on the map, but the fact that we can meet mutants and lose some of our strength even with skills and a normal scout in the form of Hunter is really frustrating. I hope they were really reasonable and didn't add anything that would destroy half of our forces just because we were in the vicinity.

Only thing I will point you to is the fact that Mechasaurian did put a cat under Plan Clear bot left. So there's less chance of us running into some shit.

By the way @Mechasaurian, will we now fight more often getting missions like now from the Agent or will we still have the option to kidnap the Architect and take her out to the city? Get more skills?

And what does level 2 Recon give you in terms of enemy detection? Do we know about him ahead of time? And level 3 will give us the ability to get information about the map before we've even been there? Something like points of interest and a general outline of the map? Or maybe we can open the fog of war 2 squares ahead? So to say show that the skill is so strong that it can show many times more than the normal enemy forces?

Author accidentally made skill progression too fast for our cute murder chess bot. So she didn't get to double dip for skill training.
tbh Ouro has been picking up skills more quickly than I had anticipated.

But besides the skill we got to upgrade our troops and trucks and also a moral point too. So I wouldn't count it as a wasted time.

I realize that, but we really need those skills at least at the entry level.

I was hoping that in this mission we could already use guerrilla tactics with traps, but so far we are equally bad in all skills and don't understand anything about defense tactics, which considering the recent issues with ammo is very timely.

With engineering skills we could in theory somehow solve the ammo issue with traps, but as it is, our troops are alive until we run out of ammo and it's really depressing.

We literally after this one full battle will have to go back simply because we will have lost most of our forces and stripped of all ammo.

And we can't compensate for that with any advanced skills, and we're not able to trigger skill synergy yet. I generally hope to get all skills by 1 before making any bet on narrow specialization.

To be fair, if I have to go by Mechasorian reaction to us believing that at least a week have past, it seem that for them, it was only a few days, hence why they wanted to slow down the acquisition of new skills

I would agree with that... If new chapters didn't come out every six months. Literally. Some chapters have actually been on edit for longer than that. I honestly lost faith a long time ago that I would see the end of this quest.

And it's one of the few quests I'm really looking forward to and one I don't hope to see until I'm old.

Well, it's a free game on a small forum, Mechasaurian goes by their own rhythm, through their own life
When they have free time, the game goes on, when they are busy it goes in hiatus
So let's be patient
