I adored, freaking ADORED this glimpse of the Old Ones. It was, cold, calculated, some manner of being beyond mere mortals yet not the same as a god.

A. Because everyone else is and I don't want to be alone.
B. Metaphor is reality and pouncing seems less metaphorical than illusion which now that I've written may be a very bad thing actually.

Not everyone else, to quibble.

Could you please clarify, what may be bad in this case, that pouncing is what it is, or that opening isn't what pouncing is?

Well, the fourth planet is Mallus. The new arrival was not the first Old One vessel to appear.

The Old Ones appeared to not all be operating in total unity. One of them, perhaps Quetli or Quetzl, was in charge of the ships in orbit.

The one arriving appeared to be bringing a new thing, greeting two Slann of the First Generation who reported on progress with the Dwarfs and Elves respectively.

She (and I'm guessing it was Potec or Tepok, mother-of-pearl and all; as well as one whose aspect is the future and deciphering; the feathered serpent) may have been delivering the seed or prototype of Sotek? Shadow laurel, shadow victory indicating a hidden/unformed/unseen victory over something, the description of the ship from a planet's surface could come across as the twin-tailed comet, the wings formed from the motions of energy the twin tails. But it hadn't yet settled into what it would be/shaped/formed, hence why it shifted between forms, but had a predator's view of frogs like snakes do, and it already had a serpentine form.

And the Old Ones are referred to as "shadowy beings"

The proto-coatl could fit in the sense of its distinctness from the Lizardmen (Tepok ignoring the calls from other Old Ones) yet ties to Tepok and the Old Ones, yeah.

Admittedly a god-prototype probably wouldn't have a purely physical aspect bereft of aetheric signs, too.

And now I wonder if there is a pair of Slann on the White moon... Stuck there in an old observation facility...
Would be wild if Rigna could give them a call.

Could you please elaborate, I don't understand ?

I can more easily see a jaguar pouncing upon his prey helping by physically finding or making a tunnel that connects the two together, than I can have any idea how the lord of illusion would be helpful.
The bad thing would be saying no to a simple answer that will lead to success in order to select an answer that might lead to some amount of success.

Some weirdos among scientific comunity consider finding out things as hunt , so pursuing answer and asking a god of hunters for help will lead ones mind the right 'trail' to resolution.

There is better way of saying that but its essentially asking for guidance for us the follow rather than handling the solution....

They could be in a coma, or stuck with no way of comunicating... who knows. We don't. Rigna might. would have to visit the moon and find the place to know for sure.

This entire space was created/discovered by a change of perspective, but that same perspective imposed an unbreachable barrier. Let us call upon the aspect that alters and deceives perception to reconcile the issues.

Also pouncing, hunting, feels like too violent of an action for infrastructure. Especially infrastructure that involves the birth of creatures. I would rather ease past this barrier than fight through it.
