Okay, gonna put some actual arguments down for these choices.
Where has Yon been working? (Choose 1)
[X] [Work] Medical Pavilion - grinding up medicine and providing basic healing
I won't try and cast this decision as a no-brainer; all of these choices have potential. Copying texts gets us access to information, hunting means we can filch spiritual cores and harvested materials, crafting is always useful. But we're in a xianxia here, and that means two things: first, that people are gonna get hurt, and more importantly, that the traditional attitude of "repay an insult tenfold, but repay a kindness a hundredfold" is going to be in effect with at least some people. Traditionally, "I found the loser of a duel and patched their beaten carcass back together so that they could go Protagonist at whoever beat the stuffing out of them" is a pretty solid way to get a very powerful person indebted to you - and even if we don't get an opportunity like that, medics are valuable. If we get too skilled that makes us a target for enemies of our sect (as any TF2 player knows, you shoot the Medic first), but at this level it just means we have a better shot of not getting flattened by a superior for no reason.
Who has Yon made a connection with? (Choose 1)
[X] [Contact] Jade Beauty - one of the sect's fairies counts Yon as a reliable lackey
Young Masters and Noble Scions do rather more fighting each other and making enemies that I want to get involved in, and that goes double for the Genius Outsider. All three stand a high chance of getting us to take sides in some kind of rivalry that we are not high-levelled enough to come out of unbattered just yet. By contrast, while Jade Beauties absolutely get involved in the same kind of shit, it doesn't turn brutally violent quite as often and is more likely, if we get pulled into any kind of political shenanigans, to be more along the lines of people trying to court her and threatening information out of her lackeys, etc. Which is still not great, but being one of the young mistress's unimportant lackeys is better than than being someone a young master is known to trade pointers with, or the guy doing favours for the genius outsider who just showed up the sect heir. Note that these two may come with increased benefits - trading pointers with a young master will see us improve faster, while a genius who owes us is potentially very useful - but overall I prefer to be cautious with who we know. "Noble scion's gofer" is a second-place for "unimportant enough to not get into too much trouble", but yeah, I'm sticking with the jade beauty.
What treasures has Yon accumulated? (Choose 3)
[X] [Treasure] Strangling Vine Seed - the indomitable and deadly weed has much to teach
[X] [Treasure] Dreaming Orchid Elixir Recipe - a potent draught for focusing the mind and enhancing the body
[X] [Treasure] Iron Kettle Stomach - the first fundamental of life is digestion, all else follows
General rule of thumb: stick to a theme. The sword, the razor palm, being hotblooded or diamond-bodied - those are sword path merits. The monocle would be for if we're planning to do a lot of leading people - useful, but not very useful now, and not too suited to the medical path. The spirit path is, again, not the one I'm angling towards here, so the tome is out.
A budding medic with a secret elixir recipe, on the other hand, is very good traditional stuff. The ability to keep pills and exotic qi-rich food down better is also useful. So that leaves the last choice between a weird plant seed teacher thing and a lucky pendant, and... on the whole, I think the former is just more interesting than "things go a little better than they should". A specific buff that teaches specific things tends to be less bland and more character-focused than a general flavourless buff across the board. And being interested in plants fits with the focus on medicine, elixirs and digestion as a route to power.
Thus, my proposal: The Path Of The Foodie Gets The Girl!
