Operation Weihnachtswunder (A CK2 Style Quest to Save Christmas!)

[X] Yukawa Shiori (Secondary Start - Stewardship) - A miko or shrine priestess from Japan, she deals with divine spirits, blessings, and fortunes. Furthermore, she is friendly with many kami in her native Japan. However, she has also made a powerful enemy of a powerful Angel. One that seeks to damn her to Hell, and would not care about who gets in his way.

[X] Before you can make a selection, a man sits in the Chair of Solomon. He is wrapped in mummy wrappings, though you can see his eyes. He wears an Ankh around his neck, and a mask in the visage of Anubis. Jack and Krampus immediately burst into the room, but not to attack the man. No, they know him…

[X] William O'Shea (Secondary Stats - Diplomacy) - Some would say he was a violent terrorist during the Troubles. Others would say he was a proud freedom fighter, protecting the Irish people. But now, he's looking to be a man of peace, evoking magic from mana sources within the land. But what he's done still haunts him, and there are people on both sides who want him dead.

Santas trauma club. Also could raise Nicholas as his aprentice once we saved him coming turn.

[ ] Jessica Good (Secondary Stat - Martial) - Ever want to summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon? How about casting a Channel-Fireball combo? Jessica uses trading card games as summons and spells, pulling them from fiction into reality! However, this can be draining for more powerful casts. Also, she does not take losing well.

Nice vibes.

[ ] Evangeline (Secondary Stat - Diplomacy) - Wait, wasn't she considered for the Chair of Mouths? You suppose she could hold the Chair of Solomon instead?

Eh.

[X] Cassandra Copperbottom (Secondary Stat - Learning) - A fox spirit (not a kitsune) alchemist, she knows how to craft potions of all types, and can get a hold of rarer ingredients and equipment. However, she is very bad with money, and must never be left in a gambling hall. Or given a gacha game

Sounds nice (as long as someone with good Stewardship is between her and money), could be a good friend for Cecilia.

[ ] Nicholas Brown (???) - Well, it'd be one way to get him away from his father, though it would be highly unorthodox. It'll take a lot of work and would be an uphill battle, but you think if you helped the boy, he could grow up to become a great person, and a great mage.

Eh, I'd much rather send Krampus + support to deal with his father and then let Nicholas be a child.

Hmmm… I do love freedom and geomancy.

I'm also fond of the more transactional/bureaucratic nature of many Asian spirits, and Heaven kinda seems like assholes from what we've heard anyway. But fundamentally…

I CRAVE MYSTERY BOX!

Young Nick is a good boy and I do want to adopt him but we've gotta be able to do that without also giving a literal child one of the positions of utmost authority and responsibility. He can grow into the role as a normal hero unit first.

Also this guy is definitely the incumbent and having him show up means both that Amazon doesn't have him (living or dead) and possibly that we'll have a more expert assessment of what they're up to than what Blitzen, Jack and Krampus are able to tell us as arcane laymen.

EDIT: this guy:
Eldras did not hold a position in the Council. As for the other holders, they were actually people Nicholas had interacted with throughout the last few decades. So nobody famous. But they had really loved helping people, so when Nicholas revealed who he really was, they jumped on board. That included a teacher from America as Learning who seemed to be the only one who cared from her school, A diplomat from Kenya as Diplomacy that had the best interests of Africa as a whole at heart, and an occultist from Egypt who still knew the ways of the Egyptian Pantheon.

Jack Frost knew them all pretty well.
Which, as an aside, Egyptian mysticism has some of the most in depth practices in regards to analyzing and manipulating the soul, which is neat, especially since they also deal with True Name shit like the Fae.

It won't be in theme of this quest if we dont help Nicholas, but lets not saddle him with a chair and us with a novice advisor doing so.

Either of these would be fine by me.

Missing a bracket there Bud.

I would prefer not to do shenanigans with a child's fate.

Besides that heaven already doesn't like us….

huh, even on a nat one i definitely didn't expect a wildly inexplicable accidental giant ritual going into killing two heroes and unleashing havock on the city. are we sure the ghost of Christmas future wasn't exaggerating, at least a little? perhaps they show the absolute worst timeline possible, as that'd be more useful...

regarding the rest of the update, we'll have to see how expanding the workshop goes, though i don't expect having that action would be an issue or anything (just need to make sure we don't get more than we can sustain, probably? maybe if we're going back to this action later there'll be some stuff that's not immediately useful we can hold off on and just get right before it's relevant, too?)
it is interesting there's an alternative option related too Yggdrasil though, will be interesting to see what the merits of that are...

it's obviously fine if it's lower since we rolled great, but is the halfway bonus for hiring more people supposed to be 8? i thought it was half of scrooge's stat, which was like 31 or such.
does separating marley into their own stat block reduce our effective stewardship, or something? that could be awkward if it means less actions (though could be good for balance purposes)

not sure who i'm after for the seat, someone who's a generalist would be good? and while that could be nicholas, but we don't really know much about them+there's obvious downsides (forcing it on him, him currently not being a great fit, their gene donor causing issues before we can do something...) so not sure.

[X] Cassandra Copperbottom (Secondary Stat - Learning) - A fox spirit (not a kitsune) alchemist, she knows how to craft potions of all types, and can get a hold of rarer ingredients and equipment. a potions specialisation could be a good pick for someone to have for dealing with misc magical issues, and if they're also learning based that could help on research/upgrade-related actions (helping shore up possible issues with Celica not wanting to research some stuff/having the deck stacked against her(there's a *lot* of stuff to do). maybe they could be friends?

oh, admittedly the egyption occultist would be fine as a generalist too if they're really the previous guy on the seat (i didn't notice that before reading comments) only issues are how we don't really know them personally yet and how it'd mess up the fun "two old guard, two friends, two new people" symmetry we almost had :P

C'mon, he comes with theme music.

Morning. Barely awake, need coffee.

Shit, I think I accidently copied the 8 from another source. Fixing it to the correct math. Math is hard. :p

so how confident are we that this guy (Egyptian mystery box) was actually the previous councillor? I'm thinking it's good odds, but their arrival is probably going to pose complications related to amazon so i wouldn't be super optimistic about this weakening them @The Froggy Ninja (maybe their survival had consequences, for instance? or them being here also benefits amazon somehow?)(seems like every hero has some downsides/weaknesses, so it makes sense to assume some issue?). we'll just have to see how that works out I guess?

I'm not seriously worried personally, we seem to have plenty of ghosts for the time being either way right?
though it's not our fault of anyone missed the count and thus we end up missing them when building more facilities (assuming we don't end up leaving space for more employees in the future, at least).

can you even get stowaways on land? tbh it could be funny if something like that happens(at least in the event of extra ghosts, as there's no reason to expect more when this doesn't give an extra success threshold)

Since this guy is an Ancient Egyptian, the closest holiday to Christmas for him would be a celebration of the winter solstice involving Horus and Ra. A bit weird for someone like that to show up, but lets see where this goes.

A magical Ancient Egyptian? Count me in!

Mystery guy? I have to go for it. No clue who it could be though.

Damn, there's so many great options here...

Most of their complications are "has an enemy" variety though. If his enemy is Amazon, then probably the worst that'll happen is they know he's alive and escaped and may suspect that there's a new Santa in town.

Jack and Krampus know him and he matches the description of the previous Seat of Solomon. So unless it's a bait and switch, it's probably that guy.
