[X] Plants
[X] Skeletons

A place with intact skeletons for necromancers to study and potentially a source of skeletons for them to practice on would be of benefit to young Lutr. The Plants thing is something that might even end up being unique for our island! A place to train and recognize a variety of foliage foes before having to learn in the wild by watching someone getting eaten by them! Might even end up a good way for the Citadel to defend the land approaches, assuming there aren't carnivorous sea-plants that can threaten small ships (a bad assumption)

"You don't believe the Elven Gods would be willing or able to shepherd him to the afterlife from here?" you attempt to prompt her to continue.

Her silence speaks volumes. You're far from an expert on the subject, but your understanding is that Asur believe that outside Ulthuan, proper transition to the afterlife - as opposed to falling prey to the beings that would feast on a wandering spirit - depends on the scarce mercy of Morai-Heg, the assistance of one of Her Priests, or swearing oneself into the service of Ereth Khial. The alternative would be forever haunting wherever the spirit ends up, or attempting to travel somewhere that it would rather haunt. You'd guess that the local Priest for the civilian portion of the Citadel of Dusk might be seen as good enough for the local farmers and fishermen, but a Princess might have reservations about entrusting her beloved to their care.

Yeah, seeing this I'm honestly alright with what we're doing. It's one thing to keep a soul from going to a happy afterlife, but a likely not-so-happy afterlife at best? Well, I can't really blame Aelsabrim. If anything, this means her husband will likely be more willing to stay and probably keep more of himself, kinda like the drowned zombies in the Vampire Coast.

Honestly even the fact that her husband's soul was still around rather than having started the journey itself kinda speaks volumes. He seemingly doesn't think much of his chances of trekking to the elven afterlife on his own either.

the calculus on necromancy changes A LOT when Bony starts explaining Afterlife Logistics and the potential to Just Die A Second Time

The big affinities of the Vampire Coast are Trophies, Magic, History, and Vampiric/Necromantic Diasporta. Skeletons of Lustrian animals is probably as close as we can get right now to Trophies. Relics might be goodish for Magic but also riskier.

No point in letting perfectly good trophies/exhibits/gladiators/security guards go to waste just because the elves failed to capture them alive, right? Both versatile and easy to keep in storage until we find good use for them, and we aren't committed to a directly relevant initial researcher in the same way living beasts or trinkets might entail.

I'm still planning to grab a beast researcher cause I would like to have them at some point

I think the view of undead/ souls not moving on tends to get a bit skewed, cause a lot of our viewpoints are for the Empire, and the Empire has two things going for it that skews things
1: the well is poisoned to hell, understandably, what with Kemmler and Helman Ghorst and the von carsteins and Van hal the first and Nagash all the way back when sigmar was around and probably even more that I cant think of
2: Morr is the death God of choice/ with the most influence, and he's generally a alright/stand up guy, especially compared to the clusterfuck the elves have going with morai heg and ereth khai.

Let's have our first exhibit be related to the conquest of Awakening. We were hired to display the glorious history and terrible might of the Vampire Coast, and by gum, that's what we should do.

We've got Luthor's ship, so now we need some Lizardman doodads to emphasize the conquest of Huatl.

Plus, we'd practically be doing the Princess a favour: the Lizardmen can't get mad at the Elves if the goods aren't sitting in their treasury, and they can hardly get more mad at Harkon anyway.
