  • Rolling lower would have had Rei accidentally reveal her Void influence; she'd have to fight Fuji AND the Shade at the same time, Lupinranger vs Patoranger style.
  • Since you critted that last Social check, Fuji now trusts Rei enough to give you something special… at the end of combat, of course
Lupinranger vs Patroangerstyle while interesting to watch as a show, would've sucked so bad in this case when we're still a bit icky about void bleed. I'd rather not fight a normal kid as a former assassin uh uh.
Social Checks continue to be Rei's way to styling on the world lmao.
 
Temp threadmark: Patch Notes 2.4 New
After some playtesting on my own against some dummy enemies that I cut out, I've realized a few things. Here are some patch notes I'm going to implement into the combat: (which will be put into effect after this fight!)

-Over Damage will only be able to add a + modifier equal to 1/2 of the moves base rolled damage. So if you rolled an 18 on the damage, Over Damage can only bring it up to 27. This was brought to you by <CODE> TB from the Malice girls theoretically being able to deal damage equal to most of the Shade's health bar with one blow, due to having three different attack rolls. (You are not supposed to be able to do 65 damage in one turn this early in the game.)
-Akemi has received all around nerfs in exchange for slightly more Physical/health. As for why…
-Weaken Opponent (from Himari) has also been nerfed. 35% chance of crit into Sudden Kill wasn't consistent, but when it did it was almost always a one shot.
-Flowing Fluidity and Smoke Bomb have been reworded to make more sense.

This is my first time homebrewing a system, so some changes are being made on the fly here. Sorry if it's a bit of an inconvenience!
 
Understood Captain! Sad to see the high numbers go, but balance is necesary! These gjrls should not have that much dakka. At least not yet.

RPG with diffetent character stories a la Sonic Adventure DX (Gamma is awesome). Or go full tilt custimizable MMO RPG a la Final Fantasy 14.
Poor void samurai and void hacker, those were the most used classes in PVP mode. At least the Debuff Armor combat style went mostly unschated.
...if it wasn't for the fact I dont have time to write I would totally make a Videogame omake. But I think Rei has enough OExp, for a good while. Those pre-order bonuses needed the nerfs, early game became way to easy for grinders.

...Flowing Fluidity says it makes the body partially water-based. If we somehow stuck that onto Pyrophobia and activated it, what exactly would happen there? A body made of fire suddenly becoming partly water-based seems like it would have interesting reactions. Would it suddenly have it's body turn to steam and rapidly expand/disperse? Would that even kill it?

That's assuming you could even activate the spell after putting it on Pyrophobia.
 
Well, at least you're learning it now. Balance is hard.

And yeah, you generally don't want to rely on bonus damage to separate people. It can get Real Complicated Real Fast (see: Anima)

Oh dear... these rolls were... hmm. Yoday is going to be interesting. Especially since Im almost sure that Ill miss any discussions in the next few hours. Heres hoping Rei does well.
 
Eh, the mental roll is negligible considering Fuji already had type advantage against the shade.

It's that Social roll that's awfully interesting.

... You know the fact we are playing a Gajin Rider that somehow keeps getting away with social rolls is very funny. You would think they would be our weakness, but instead it keeps rolling high. At this rate social is gonna be our highest stat. Now... to speculate which armor would scale of that... any bard monsters around? Hmm... probably one of the music base ones...

Rather than a bard, might I suggest a pair of live streamers who are also phantom thieves instead? It's certainly a profession that requires a lot of social, and you gotta admit Ki-sikil and Lil-la would be a pretty much perfect fit for our current lineup of spirits

I can confirm that they're very much on the list. But uh, you're not gonna meet their corresponding person for a bit. Sorry bout that.
 
Y know I keep forgetting cards come from people for a reason and now I'm curious on what the heck the person who has streamer phantom thieves as a choice to pick is like. Sigh. We'll find out some day.
Its probably less the streamer aspect and mire the thief aspect. Probably would be a source of time thieves as well...huh.
I wonder if time thieves would do anything for action economy. If there is any spirit that would boost ap it would be the time travelers.

    -[X] Rei's Actions:
    -[X] Start off by Using SSS Overlay and activating Flowing Fluidity at the start of the fight, then use smoke bomb to blind the enemy, afterwards use Getaway of the Samurai to give Fuji some room to attack from long range.
    -[X] Once Fuji is farther away switch to Malice Overlay to stack as many debuffs to the enemy as possible, if the enemy seems to be near death use one of your finishing moves.
    -[X] If things look like its turning for the worse, switch back to SSS overlay to increase evasion and pile damage until its dead.
