Found it always weird tho why not more of the larger capitals have prow mounted heavy and superheavy lances.
For much the same reason a sword is a standard piece of equipment in Imperial military units: The powerful weapons can't fire fast enough to stop a unit charging at full speed across the battlefield and engaging at close range where the enemy can't bring their weapons to bear.

That's pretty much what the BFG rule book describes Imperial Navy doctrine as and why Cruisers have Armored Prows: Against ME style spinal ships, they can't handle their line being attacked fast-moving ships. Once a neat, ordered firing line is disrupted and broken up, broadsides let the Imperial Navy shoot at enemies all around them while the enemy is trying to handle two or more sets of opponents attacking them all at once.

Also prow weapons are taxing on the Ship's power systems.

Maybe I am too Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 poisoned where my favourite strategy was filling Astartes fleets up with Strike Cruiser Mk.IIIs with their big boy front lances, hide them in a cloud set on cease movement, autotargeting and front facing, left the pc to work out and returned to a won battle. (campaign)

I'm more familiar with BFG1, but if the Strike Cruiser lances hit as hard or harder than a Gothic then that's definitely a nasty thing to face in any serious numbers. AI stupidity or not.

Hmmm, Psyker with Symbiont implant. Would it make them more powerful, less powerful, neutral. I honestly haven't thought about it.

It depends on how you'd classify the Symbiont AI in terms of having a soul. Technology that reacts with psychic powers often requires specially tuned crystals that are often very small and require very precise tooling to manufacture. But that still requires regular checkups and ritualistic maintenance to prevent it being hijacked by Daemons.

If the AI is able to interact with the Realm of Souls, you could get something like the Legion's Psyarkana Empath Bonds to mutually boost each member or the Castellax-Achaea that lets a psyker interact through the unit for casting. But those are relics of ancient days and found out to be not all that safe.

SupCom humanity persistently ran into the problem that they could not figure out true, self-aware, conscious AI. The only one who could manage was Brackmann and he did it by jury-rigging Seraphim tech together. What they have, in Mass Effect terms, is cutting edge VI, hence why SupCom units are stoopid, and why the Imperium's neural computers are so interesting because they would add new research avenues into the development of true AI. Its also why Symbionts exist. The human adds the abtract problem solving part and the Symbiont implant adds a gaming pc powerful data-analysis and -processing capacity via a highly advanced but in many aspects very stoopid (and decidedly not conscious or self-aware) AI component that seemlessly integrates with the consciousness of the brain.

And you know, since its protofabbed, it doesnt have warp clinging to it anyway.

Then shoving that into a Psyker is probably a… slightly less terrible Pariah effect.

Going by the effects Sisters had passing through the teleportation system, it's not an all-consuming, soul-thirsting void like a Culexus that causes instinctual terror. But it's still a painful, disturbing experience. They can always feel part of themselves that is not what it should be, not a part of the Warp. A physical sensation where their physical form doesn't respond the same way, thoughts that do not reflect within the greater mindscape, a piece of their metaphysical form torn out and replaced by something that does not belong.

Body dysmorphia, but for the mind and soul.

A few months ago...Part II

To the most esteemed Lady Lieutenant Princeps General Shepard,

The fate of Phitos hangs by a thread. Our sacred mission to further increase exploitation of this wretched planet's single valuable feature, its Adamantium ore, faces grave and immediate perilous disruption. The primitive, barbarous xenos tribes and vile beasts of this forsaken world assault our mining operations with relentless fury. The current numbers of the Fort Eden's Door garrison, the colonial militia and the weaponry available are but a feeble shield against their onslaught. Immediate reinforcement and superior armament are not merely necessary to protect expansion of mining operations, they are an act of faith and duty to safeguard our sacred investment returns and preserve the sanctity of our endeavor.

Reports of my valiant battle sisters reveal a catastrophic escalation in the frequency and intensity of xenos attacks. Despite your formidable display of righteous power, these xenos wretches have resorted to ever more brazen and coordinated tactics. Their blasphemous exploitation of the terrain and insidious guerrilla warfare have inflicted grievous wounds upon our noble personnel and sacred machinery.

The indigenous wildlife, notable cursed Carnosaur packs and abhorrent Dread Saurians, has displayed an escalating, unholy aggression towards our divine mandate to civilize this world. These monstrous beasts not only assault our miners, the militia and my holy warriors but also desecrate critical infrastructure and machinery. Our current defenses are woefully inadequate to purge these abominations and uphold order.

The relentless assault from xenos and beasts has inflicted grievous delays upon our mining operations. Equipment damage and injuries to dedicated personnel have led to severe disruptions, diminished efficiency, and an affront to our production targets. Such sacrilege cannot be tolerated, for it undermines both the material returns and the holy purpose of our sacred mission.

An urgent augmentation of our security forces is imperative to strengthen our defensive capabilities. With additional Sororitas to bolster the Garrison will enable me to fortify our perimeter, repel the vile attacks, and safeguard the sanctity of our infrastructure. The three lances of war engines of the Knights of Tet assigned to our garrison, have proven invaluable in combating both tribes and fauna. Their ancient valor is a beacon of hope for the Emperor's servants on this world. Given our alliance with the esteemed Astartes Halo Swords Chapter, their deployment of scouts Astartes would serve as both a rigorous trial to harden the Astartes-to-be and a strategic advantage in locating the wretched xenos' lairs. Moreover, I renew my request for the authorization to maintain a small arsenal of atomic weapons, with Storm Eagle missiles as their delivery system, to ensure we have the means to obliterate these vile threats with righteous fury.

I entreat you to prioritize this request and expedite the provision of these vital resources. The Emperor's will demands immediate and resolute action to uphold His divine purpose and achieve our sacred objectives.

In unwavering service to the Emperor and your Generalship,

Palatine Norah

As usual if you want to write in something more creative, feel free, subject to my veto. I now have to return to learning for another exam for the next two weeks. :( Edit, for context see the previous sidestory threadmark.

Context: This is an Exodite World. One we've promised to respect.

… Oh fuck, we have Exodites.

Keep an eye out for Biel-tan, this is the scenario they dream about.

Samanthal: "Respect the Exodites' sanctity, and harmony shall prevail between us."

Revy: "Simple enough. The UEF no longer needs to expand for resources."

… and if Biel-tan shows up and tried to break that harmony, are you going to watch or politely tell them to fuck off and not make your planet a war zone?

With "us" he means specifically his craftworlds and the UEF

Don't worry about Biel Tan
So when the Sister is complaining about this:

I'm inclined to think that she's not being fully… accurate about what's going on.

I want to know more of what's going on before the attacks increased.

Hold the line, sure. I don't think the Halo Swords have a Hate-on for the Eldar like some other chapters, so I trust them to get more info back to us.

And I sure as hell don't want to hand nukes to someone who's going to make the Pentomic Army look sane.

I'll admit to severe surprise that the Halo Swords would subject themselves to us ordering that deployment. I'd certainly recommend it to them, but they're Space Marines. Not exactly people even generals can order about.

Revy gave the Swords the means to have more fancy stuff than their parent chapter. That bought her enough relationship points with them that the Chapter Master would probably do a Fortinite dance if she asked for it. Requesting a few Scouts to crawl through the dirt on a death world is something she can order since their infinite terminator armor/deadnought/land raider exploit depends on Phitos output.

On the one hand, she might need those nukes.

On the other, the Exodites might have…strong opinions about their use.

Palatine Norah, living her best life, flying around in a civilian variant T2 Continental transport turned command vehcile she had the techpriests bolt a whole lot of Hellstrike-, Hellfury-missiles, Valkyrie rocket pods and Tarantula Sentry turrets onto.

No nukes for you today, too much responsibility to bear. Knights might be more useful for us, but i believe they can also be a better help that just the garrison.

He would, but he'd mind it less if he got to show off his mad sax skills while doing it.

Does Norah have a thing for large, explosive, homing cylinders of Doom or is a Vendetta just not enough wingspan for her?
