Dark Magical Girl Quest

[X] Plan The Power of Love IT'S LUST!

Edit: In terms of stats, this is a really good build for a magical attacker and is not even a glass cannon.

[X] Plan: Lazy Idol Doesn't Feel Like A Scavenger Hunt

Honestly, I just don't want to go down the redemption path again. There's already enough of these that start redeeming so early, they never even do anything wrong to be redeemed for.
Edit to summarize the stats of this plan: [11(1) Might, 20(10) Skill, 18(8) Intellect, 22(12) Empathy, 15(5) Soul]

Edit 2: We can approval vote? Neat!
[X] Plan Magical Girl Starscream
(6 Might, 9 Skill, 12 Intellect, 5 Empathy, 4 Soul)

Oh bother, we're a BARD! Everyone hide your sons and daughters and dragons!

[X] Plan: Weird and Wild
Cause I like offbeat weirdness and blue-orange morality, sue me.

I just realized I forced you to take a flaw but didn't have any positive traits. Now I'm wondering what I should do.

In case you didn't notice, I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants here.

What do you mean? All Origins and Sins have positive and negative impact mechanically speaking, as far as I see. And narratively the general negativity feels more like a feature than a bug, at least to me. Like... the purpose of the quest is to be a magical kid that's not a well-adjusted human being, right?

I meant more from a mechanical sense. Your origin, sin and hobbies all gave you stats up and your sin gives you a spell, but your sin also gives you a flaw, which is both a character flaw and something that hinders you mechanically. I feel like I should have given you a perk that positively influences the mechanics to even it out.

A cost reduction to spells thematic to the sin, as implied by the narration?

I would not recommend to change anything big mid vote, maybe balance thing a bit more toward positives next time around if you feel it necessary from mechanical perspective.

Mm, no. I'm already thinking that you get four or five Spell Trees, kind of like tech trees, that you can follow and practice to unlock new spells. Your sin decides one of them, so rather than discounting related spells, it straight up unlocks the ability to learn them naturally. I might slip something in next update for a character trait, or I might decide that something from this update gives you a trait or two that fits. That second option feels not great though, like I'm not giving you the full picture? I mean, I was fine with it in character generation though, since I didn't tell you that including monsters or aliens would let you pick vampire or alien as an origin. Maybe a mix? Your choices here gives you a tailored selection of traits to pick from next vote? That feels the most right...

Sorry, I wound up thinking as I typed there.

You did give us ???, but yeah fair enough. You could have us pick a virtue later, or add something special pulling from the combo of traits we picked.

For the discussion: I'm not a huge fan of insanity because it makes the character much Less sympathetic. I know people prefer different stuff partially because there are apparently other evil MG quests that have protagonists that are too good? I do agree we should be genuinely villainous for at least a while, and the hero should have to really put in time if they want to redeem us. Like, a good redemption involves being slowly corrupted to the side of good.

I'll clarify that taking Insanity doesn't make you a full on psychopath. Big Bad lady isn't entirely a reliable narrator after all. It's not impossible for you to relate to other people and it's not damning you to villainy forever. I mostly included it because I like Yanderes and other unstable character types. Insanity makes you weird and different and probably pretty frightening but I'm sure at least one MG will still like you. Maybe.

Welcome to my seven deadly sins ranking!

#1 wrath:
Very dramatic and having to fight against your own violent impulses when trying to interact peacefully is compelling to me.

#2 pride:
Always a fun one, hubris is a notorious villain flaw and can cause some fun dramatic reactions.

#3 greed:
Stealing from people is useful, and always wanting more makes for a loathsome villain/pos

#4 envy:
Like greed but with more lamenting our own impotence, not a huge fan but it can be funny.

#5 gluttony:
Being very hungry doesn't sound terribly interesting.

#6 sloth:
Could be neat, but I don't like laziness as a central trait in a main character.

#7 lust:
Mind control makes me really uncomfortable, and honestly playing that as a character trait is really skeevy, no thanks.

Made another variant of Plan: I will punch you that swaps out Sloth for Wrath.

IIRC the vote tally doesn't care about capitalization, so it might act up due to your plan's name. Please change the name somehow so it's a little different?

As promised, I'm a single issue voter. However, as this was posted while I was asleep, and I'm late to the party this time, I don't expect to sway people to my plan (so I'll have to approval vote).

Still! My Single Issue continues! Spurred by me rereading a bunch of fun violent toxic gay fanfics! So without further ado I present -

[X] Plan: Darkness LI Bait
- [X] [Gender] Girl
- [X] [Appearance] a fierce scowl, angry red eyes and short, spiky black hair with a red streak.
- [X] [Origin] Abandonment
- [X] [Sin] Greed
- [X] [Club] Urban Legends
- [X] [Club] Mechanics
- [X] [Name] Yuri Matoi
- [X] [???] LOVE

Final statline: 5 Might, 22 Skill, 7 Intellect, 9 Empathy, 3 Soul

So! Let me explain my thinking. Firstly, Gender: Girl which is purely due to OOC stuff (I'd be fine with Enby too honestly). This is a personal flaw, and not a crucial part of the plan, so let's move on quickly to appearance - the narrator so far feels kinda snooty and intellectual and not necessarily physically fit so for contrast reasons, a more physically fit MC is neat. Also, angry appearance is always fun! And other colour streak! Nice.

Now we get to the fun stuff though - Origin Abandonment, imo, gives us the most reason to Want approval from our Dark Lady. Yes, I know Isolation probably gives us HUGE Mommy Issues which would also work for that, but let's go for broad appeal. We will never be hungry again, and while the Dark Lady is cruel, we're used to cruelty - expect it, even - and she also gives, gives so much power and strength... how can we not follow her? Love her? Also, minmaxing, and Skill is the dex equivalent!

So - on top of that, Sin: Greed. Is it just because it lets me say we're greedy, needy, insatiable to want a goddess? .... okay, it's about 85% that. But, if years of nerdery have taught me anything, it's that copying or power copying effects are Busted, and this gives us a spell that does that for free in exchange for being a bit light fingered (which fits in with Abandonment too, parallels!). And it further minmaxes Skill!

Despite all my talk of minmaxing however, that does leave our statline with some Weaknesses, which the clubs I took fill in somewhat, boosting Intellect from 1 to 7. On top of that, while we're in a world without monsters, Urban Legends probably means Magical Girl Information Club (always important to know what the other side is doing and being Useful to the Narrator probably gets us approval), and Mechanics means Info on Miraculite which is also important to the Narrator! Bang up job!

Name - no strong opinions but this one literally contains the word Yuri why wouldn't I pick it.

And yeah, of course I'm taking Love. Duh.

Approval votes... of the other plans, the Idol one is Neat, though emphasises human connections more than my single issue prefers (and Sloth isn't really attractive), The Power of Lust seems to set us more up for redemption though I can work with it, Magical Girl Starscream's Pride and envy could easily become lust (Megatron/Starscream IS a ship after all!), and Ginger Supremacy is... actually I have nothing bad to say about it, it's really fucking good.
