The Radiant Shepherd - A Warhammer 40K God-Emperor Quest

[X] Plan DragonParadox

The problem with Cadia, is that the only reason why Abbadon won, was because he used the last of his fleet to slam his blackstone fortress into Cadia as the ultimate hissyfit after realising he'd lost the Crusade. Anything else he says is a fabrication he made, to cover for the fact that this was his last 'fuck you' card.

Leaving things as is, should mean that this scenario is pretty much set in stone, unless we fuck with it.
That assumes that the 'canon Emperor' took no actions to influence Cadia, and that everything that happened in the main timeline will just happen on its own. Which seems like a really dubious bet to me.

To ultimately mess with his plan without him just destroying cadia immediately, is to fuck with the chaos gods directly - they are empowering and enhancing his forces.

If we can fast track the birth of Ynnead, and safeguard it from the morons in deathwatch - this will (at least momentarily) shatter Slaanesh's strength, leaving he/her/it immediately vulnerable to their siblings, who will immediately attempt to capitalise on the 'upstarts' weakness.

With that potential disruption we could potentially manifest our will directly on the BSF, or unleash a miniature warpstorm above cadia destroying Abbadons fleet.
I think you are drastically overestimating what this line of actions would actually be able to achieve. And beyond that...

Honestly, our best bet is the tau. Yea they're naive as fuck, but they're at least open to reason and won't try and backstab us….yet.
The idea that the Emperor, or the Imperium, would about-face on Xenos - or that the Eldar or Tau would be stupid enough to believe that they have - is so out-of-character I refuse to believe any attempt to do so would accomplish anything other than wasting actions.

What would sending a custodian to the Eldar hope to actually achieve ? Assume we even can make contact, and assuming they even believe it, and assuming they agree (many assumptions here, no?), there is very little we can actually do to assist them in the first place. They do not need us. We are much better off getting a proper grasp of the situation at hand and worming from there.

[X] Plan Cadia Endures
-[X] Observe Abaddon the Despoiler. Try to scry what he's getting up to in preparations for the Black Crusade. (1 point)
-[X] Commune with a Custodes in your throne room. Inform him of Abaddon's preparations for a 13th Black Crusade and that the Custodes are to make sure that the Imperium, and particularly the High Lords of Terra, begin preparations for this coming war. (4 poinrs)
-[X] Observe chapter master Lufgt Huron of the Astral Claws (1 point)
-[X] Observe Hive Fleet Behemoth (1 point)
-[X] Observe Hive Fleet Kraken (1 point)
-[X] Observe Hive Fleet Leviathan (1 point)
-[X] Observe Belisarius Cawl. (1 point)

So some explanation. As quite possibly the biggest threat currently ongoing for the Imperium I think spending the four points necessary for an actual communion to get our point across is worth it compared to spending only 1 point on the Emperor's tarrot. The tarrot is vague, and our point may well not be understood, which could be problematic for something this big.

Scrying Abaddon if we can manage it despite any interference the Chaos Gods may try is a no brainer. Obviously we want to get as much information as we can on the preparations of the Black Crusade.

Trying to scry Huron seems sensible given his coming treason.

Scrying the various hive fleets also seems sensible. Those managed to do a lot of damage to the Imperium, a big part of which was achieved via the surprise with which they struck.

Should probably also see what the Emperor's favorite tech priest is getting up to right now.

I do still think it's a poor idea to rely only on the tarot for something as big as Cadia given the tarot's not even certain to get across to the few people in the Segmentum we do send it to, when we can immediately get the High Lords of Terra on it right now, and Segmentum command once the message reaches them.

Okay even if you want to help create Ynnead, why first turn? Why this desire for an immediate bold action (For a faction that is not even our own mind you) when we're arguably just flailing around blind and deaf right now. Why not wait and prepare, why not build up trust with Eldard first? Heck why not build up knowledge of the Aeldari so we might make a better offer? We are sinking everything but one tarot into an action we have no idea will work. We could start next turn just as ignorant of the current state of the Imperium and even what year it is, with nothing to show for it because the Aeldari don't trust us enough to even consider this offer or neither of us can help each other enough to make this deal worth while.

[X] Plan Cadia Stands ( Observant stage )

Last quest Azel did where we took control of Cersei Lannister, the questers decided to do a big brain move of trying to make nice with the Tullys and Starks by sparing Ned Stark by sending him to the Wall instead of executing him, making Edmure Tully Hand of the King, and declaring Gregor Clegane a War Criminal to be arrested.

Problem was, Tywin Lannister, our dear old narcissistic and misogynistic father, didn't very much like his daughter basically giving the people who kidnapped his son Tyrion everything they want when he thought he could easily kick their ass, so he ignored us and had Pycelle sabotage us. This culminated in the quest going down a spiral of paranoia and delusions of grandeur which ended in blowing up King's Landing out of spite.

The biggest problem is that we had almost no knowledge of anything going on, no loyal advisors (because the one person we can trust died the first time we sent him out) and our team basically ignoring us. We were stuck in a spiral of no power and no trust and no knowledge. We had no way of trusting anything we wanted to actually be done beyond our sight.

There is an important clarification here. The reason the Tully Gambit failed so hard in it's first steps was Clegane was branded a war criminal, but nothing was done beyond that. No one asked Tywin to arrest his banner man, you just declared him a criminal but had no privisons for actually dealing with him.

Edit: And things were still savable before that point had you given Renly a pardon instead of just trying to insist on Exile.

id imagine alot/otherwise unfeasible, otherwise why hadn't Emps done it already. Which makes sense, he was wounded by a daemon weapon wielded by daemon prince fulgrim- its a wound that's got some mojo behind it

[X] Plan Cadia Stands ( Observant stage )

Anything that doesn't put all the eggs in one Ynnead-shaped basket on the first turn, out of nowhere, with zero preparation or knowledge lol.

@Signupname Would you consider reformatting your vote into something cleaner so the sub-votes are included in the vote tally? Like this:
[X] Plan Cadia Stands ( Observant stage )
-[X] Guide the Tarot (1 Point)
--[X] Grant apocalyptic visions throughout Segmentum Obscurus of blood and fire and a great four-headed beast devouring all, marked most prominently by 13 glowing eyes, lidless, and wreathed in flame, ceaselessly searching for the roots of the cosmos to suckle upon and drain into ruination.
--[X] Specifically the Arcanas Eye of Horus with the Great Hoste, the Shattered World above the Emperor's Throne reversed, and the Galactic Lens reversed . Signifies a major catastrophe, most likely a Black Crusade

-[X] Observe (6 points)
--[X] Azrael of the Dark Angels
--[X] Commissar Ciaphas Cain
--[X] Commissar Sebastian Yarrick
--[X] Chapter Master Lufgt Huron, of the Astral Claws
--[X] General Usarkar E. Creed
--[X] Inquisitor Bronislav Czevak

-[X] Aid or Hinder Navigators (3 points)
