Very much enjoyed the update. Looking forward to what we can work with next turn and what we plan to do next. Wonder if we should infiltrate there military next or research division or if we need to do that because of our spy action.

You declared, deciding to tack on some fancy words of encouragement that your best friend would have encouraged you use. "This humble vessel is not much, but it will herald a new generation of ships for House Iris. In that alone, take pride; for in the tradition we honor today, we launch a brighter future for us all!" Oops, that may be a little overboard. Wrap it up, wrap it up!

As it had turned out, part of the shakedown orbit involved recording everything that occurs onboard for later review. This included the bridge before launch, and then somebody decided to do a public service by leaking a clip of it on online websites. Within hours, it become yet another rallying point for your people, thinking that you were definitely the true heir of the Solar King!

You spent the rest of the day locked in your office so the screams didn't escape the room. You could only hope that perhaps, given how public the launch was, that your sister was experiencing the same amount of grief.

Shadows crossed over her face. "Do not mention her again," She darkly ordered in a cold tone. "Your ignorance earns you one pardon. You have used it."
Violet. You are doing too good a job, and that combined with our peek at the halls of power...

Yeah, I don't think you would ever get the chance to actually put your plan in motion. More likely it'll somehow blow up in a way that makes you look good, and seem to be planned that way from the start.:rofl:

I just had a sudden epiphany. You know how I bemoaning about how the shipbuild means that we're effectively playing rock-paper-scissors while being completely blind as to what our opponent is doing? So to find detail, we would need to take a risky intrigue action.
-[ ] [Intrigue] Military Espionage. Direct agents to circumvent security systems and access classified military information to pass onto you, a highly risky but priceless operation. Reveals a power's military composition and current numbers. Requires six (6) progress. Has a moderate chance for discovery.
It only gets easier if we time it together with the unrest action which is easier said then done.

What if we leak the specs of our new ship, guess what they will build as a counter to it, and then have us build a counter to that ship?

It's rather convenient that our 'agent' unknowingly downplayed our capabilities.
He'd work his way into becoming closer to her without them, and if they should try to demand him back, well now he had the damn favor of the Solar Princess! The commissioned enforcers would take care of them! But he'd have to damn careful to dispose of that pen they had gifted him- he didn't want anybody to ever learn of how he had even managed the first entry fee in the first place. Future fees was going to be an issue, but that was likely already taken care of judging by the interested looks from others around the table. He had made it, and he wasn't going to be anybody's puppet after erasing what he knew from them.

He settled more comfortably into his seat and tapped his foot, too used to the old wear and tear that disguised a false heel compartment with blinking electronics. This time, he didn't know about them.
And really, he didn't even think that the mysterious contact may have known he'd try and distance himself after getting an in with what is effectively the ruling council.

Cycle 3.0
Radana's eyebrows shot up at your smug smile. "You actually predicted he wasn't going to uphold his end of the bargain. Impressive, even Dorothea was blindsided by it."

"Indeed, and she's still frantically figuring out ways to curtail any chance of being traced back. She has to handle all the busywork of reorganizing our cells, while I get the juicy information straight from the source!" You couldn't help yourself and laughed, peals of excited barks coming from your gut. "Ah, dance my puppets! Even when you think you're freed, I've still got strings on you!"

Your best friend rolled her eyes while you relished in the feeling of triumphant superiority, that few could dare match your talent at shadowcraft. Not that they didn't exist, but you were a player, not a pawn on the grand game of chess they all preferred to liken their craft to. Not that you particularly enjoyed chess in the first place, your own sire had called it too simplistic and preferred wargames of dice and models when spending time together.

The reminder of those faint and fleeting moments was what brought you down from the high and you sighed, letting the reality of the situation come crashing back in. There won't be any more of those fun nights, You morosely reflected and shook your head to refocus on the situation. "In any case, taking these conversations seriously, it looks like we finally have an idea of what my sister's been trying to do since she's landed."

"Securing her power base, and trying to bully smaller settlements on other planets into joining her side," Radana dryly summarized with a shake of the head. "It is already pitiful enough that she is demanding their compliance, but the threat of bullying makes it shameful. I have no doubt that were the Solar King still with us, a tanning would be in order."

"Or something much more serious. This isn't just minor family squabbling anymore- she's throwing the name of House Iris around and disrupting people's lives with it," You growled and leaned your head against a resting arm in thought. "You know these people best. Would they give in?"

"Not in the slightest," She instantly denied. "They were people who have borne witness to your bravery and her cowardice. With your recent reveal of your new ship class, their faith in you is ironclad. If you were to make an announcement about forming cities in their lands now, they'd be more than willing to move in. At this point, they would have to force compliance at gunpoint, or not at all."

The idea of the Helmsmen being so devoted that they would resist stirred your heart so, and you let out a frustrated breath. "I would rather they not have to at all, even if it might mean coming to blows with her. But we need to keep them to low level skirmishes to not ruin any attempt to reach out to my sister." Your fingers drummed against the table and you made a decision. "I think I will finally be authorizing the rearmament effort."

Radana sharply inhaled. "You're finally recruiting armed forces."

"Perhaps." Your fingers reached out and nimbly drew forth a simple piece of paper that Dorothea had passed to you once the Lycoris Knights had cleansed the old guard. "It's not a decision I can make lightly, as you can't just 'unintentionally' start amassing weapons and soldiers. The choice to do so, it's one I have to sign off on with the knowledge that we are truly retreading history now."

"Because for true peace to exist, war must be wholly rejected in every form," Radana mumbled and stood by your side. She placed a hand on your shoulder, one that helped reassure you of her support. "Yet if war were to come for us, it would be terrible indeed to lose everything."

"I know." Your hand reached up to squeeze hers, an acknowledgment of her advice. "Perhaps in order to have peace, we have to prepare for war. Especially where my sister is involved."

You dearly hoped otherwise, that your scheme to use the Solarium Codex could perhaps pave a peaceful resolution with everybody involved. That it could save brave soldiers from dying in this feud between siblings. But at the same time, were you willing to truly entrust all your hope into such a plan? And should it fail with you being somehow ousted, would the price in suffering be even greater than if you were to take up arms?

You had to ponder that question so while preparing your orders to the others.

Resource Stockpile: 30/30

Create a plan that you and your aides will execute over the duration of the cycle. Each person will have a general order that they will attempt to carry out at your command. Orders can be repeatedly taken by multiple characters for greater progression, but characters will be locked in the order until it is finished. Many actions will require a target.

[ ] Plan ____
-[ ] [Character] ______
--[ ] [Task] ________
---[ ] [Target] _____
-[ ] [Officer] ______

-[ ] [Character] Dorothea, Lycoris Knight

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are currently no martial tasks available.

There are currently no diplomacy tasks available.

-[ ] [Stewardship] Develop City. Expand the outreaches of the urban jungle, developing infrastructure and encouraging greater urban incorporation to grow a settlement taller. Increase Industry by one (1). Requires two (2) progress.
--[ ] Requires Target City

-[ ] [Stewardship] Found City.
Put forward a concentrated effort to unite previously distant rural communities into a new joint union capable of supporting a concentrated industrial effort. Found a new city that increases Industry by five (5). Requires four (4) progress.
--[ ] Requires Target Location
--[ ] Requires New City name

-[ ] [Stewardship] Construct Chain.
Meet with contractors and build a new specific industry in the system. Cost varies. Each building chain may only be built once per system.
--[ ] Requires Target City
---[ ] Requires Building Choice

---[ ] Data Reliquary. The signature monument of the Helmsmen, a testament to their perceived duty to preserving information at all costs if the worst should ever come. The information kept below is reflected in the grandeur above, with only those ordained with the greatest duties able to access the sacred archives unfiltered. Increases Influence by ten (10). Requires two (2) progress. This building must be constructed first before all others in every system of House Iris.

---[ ] Chrysanthemum Scales. A regal and ornate building that serves as the system's headquarters for marketplace and trade officers. It is staffed by a mix of Brilliance Knights and Prisms suited for administrative duties, using their Solarium circuits to process incoming information quicker and come up with streamlined delivery chains to ensure a healthy marketplace for the people. Increases Wealth by eight (8). Decreases Resources by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

---[ ] Lycoris Sanctuary. The Lycoris Knights are those Brilliance Knights who help maintain public order, acting as both counselors and confessors for those in need. This also makes them quite keen on what the public currently feel is most pressing, and so what will best appeal to them. Increases Influence by ten (10). Decreases Wealth by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

---[ ] Void Drydock. In order to maximize production and streamline the process, it is best if large voidships are actually built in the vacuum of space, or as close as possible to it. The orbit around a planet is an ideal spot for such a task, especially when paired with a space elevator on the ground to facilitate efficient resource from planetside. Should this link be cut off, the facility grinds to a halt. Benefits and costs varies. Enables recruitment for specified ship class. This may be taken multiple times with different specializations.
----[ ] Requires Ship Class

Destroyers: Increases Military by four (4). Decrease Resources and Wealth by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

----[ ] Fleet Port. What can be easily mistaken for construction around natural formations is actually purposefully shaped to accommodate for the planned housing of enormous ships meant to cross the void of space. Even when the star sailors onboard rest, the dock workers are awaken performing necessary maintenance and repairs in preparation for the next voyage. Increases Military by six (6). Decreases Wealth and Influence by six (6). Housing for one (1) regiment. Berth for two (2) cruisers and one (1) destroyer. Basing for one (1) wing. Requires six (6) progress.

-[ ] [Stewardship] Construct Post. Utilize some empty space in a city to build an independent facility. Cost varies. Each building post may only be built once per city.
--[ ] Requires Target City
---[ ] Requires Building Choice

---[ ] Sunrise Bank. Accounts now guaranteed under government-subsidized insurance! Open an account today, withdraw your money a galaxy away! Increases Wealth by two (2). Decreases Resources by two (2). Requires four (4) progress.

---[ ] Commercial Spaceport. Under the United Empire common law, no trader that does not posses hostile, hazardous, or forbidden material is to be turned away. They are to be allowed to ply their wares as they see fit, though local oversight is certainly permitted. Increases Military by two (2). Decreases Wealth and Influence by two (2). Berth for two (2) destroyers or one (1) cruiser. Requires four (4) progress.

-[ ] [Intrigue] Infiltrate Cells. Plant the seeds now for future spycraft opportunities by establishing local support and cover opportunities to slip agents hidden among the populace. Create a spy network in another power. Requires four (4) progress. Further sabotage options require this option first.
--[ ] Requires Target Faction

-[ ] [Intrigue] Cause Unrest.
Instruct your cells to purposefully cause chaos in another power, drawing attention away from whatever other covert operations you have orchestrated at the same time. Reduces the chance of discovery on the turn it completes. Requires four (4) progress.
--[ ] Requires Target Faction (Must have Infiltrate Cells)

-[ ] [Intrigue] Send Spies.
Have sharp-eyed spies pass through a rival power, using existing cells to help provide a cover for the experts to work and deduce what the enemy is doing now. Discover what primary action another power is focusing on. Requires one (1) progress. Has a low chance for discovery.
--[ ] Requires Target Faction (Must have Infiltrate Cells)

-[ ] [Intrigue] Military Espionage.
Direct agents to circumvent security systems and access classified military information to pass onto you, a highly risky but priceless operation. Reveals a power's military composition and current numbers. Requires six (6) progress. Has a moderate chance for discovery.
--[ ] Requires Target Faction (Must have Infiltrate Cells)

-[ ] [Learning] Outfit Troops. Consider what the gear your soldiers carry into battle, and create a new outfit for the boots on the ground to equip themselves with. Cost varies.
--[ ] Requires Troop Unit

--[ ] Infantry. The very basic, but essential, foot soldiers that both take and occupy ground when ordered so. Even with mechanized transports, they move fairly slowly around on the battlefield but when it comes to holding the line, their numbers help absorb dire hits. Requires four (4) progress.

-[ ] [Learning] Design Ship. Break out pencils and call up interested naval contractors to kickstart the race to create, prototype, and sell an entirely new spaceship design for your forces. Cost varies.
--[ ] Requires Ship Class

--[ ] Destroyer. The smallest of notable navy vessels, but vital for domination of local space along and necessary for group troop transports. Requires four (4) progress.
--[ ] Cruiser. Large voidships that traverse the stars and make up the bulk of any fleet that crosses systems. Requires six (6) progress.

-[ ] [Learning] Design Aircraft. Defense contractors all but salivate at the call to design a new generation of fighter craft, the chance to leave their brand across the galaxy be it on planets or in space. Requires six (6) progress.

- Your sister's efforts are ongoing in trying to bully more settlements into following her, but you've already cleared the boundary of risk at this stage. Your people aren't going to be swayed so easily. It's now up to her to decide to escalate or back down after the results are seen.
- You'll need to build a dockyard industry first dedicated for Wisteria-class before being able to recruit them. You can retool them later in the future if you have future designs.
- The difference between the Building Chain and Building Post version of berthing is in definite quantity/quality. There are plans for available upgrade paths in the future, but those are beyond you for now.
- Keep in mind that you have reach your current Building Chain cap in the Andernia system, you need to increase your industry. Do this by either expanding New Helm, or found a new city.

16 hour moratorium to come up with a cycle plan.

Soo I'm thinking the biggest immediate question is do we go for the commercial spaceport or the fleet port.

That then decides if we go for infantry learning or throwing kat into stewardship actions.

I think the fast solution for industry is New helm expansion to 10 or we invest in the possible multturn time it takes for a new city. But the new city will help with expanded influence/control in the system.

To clarify, does this means we can't build Building Chains, but can still build Building Posts?
You got that in one. Chains are limited based on the system's industry, but are very powerful as a result/provide critical infrastructure for all your holdings. Posts are not limited, just needing the appropriate resources/space on hand, but they are less powerful as a result.

So Chain Buildings are system wide effects while Posts are per city boosts? Like if we made a city on the Forever Eclipsed Snow planet and built the Lycoris Sanctuary there would it increase influence on all our planets plus get a increase influence from the Data Reliquary we already have on New Helm? So if we did that would both planets get to 20 influence? Or do we need to build everything up again? Edit: or if we built the Lycoris Sanctuary on New Helm's planet would the other planet's influence points go to 20 when we put a new city there?

Actually that brings me to my other question of is the Found City thing only able to pick sites on the same planet or can it pick other planets in the system?

Chains do not stack or double per system. If you've built it in one city in the system, that's it. This means you don't need to build a Data Reliquary again in the Andernia system so long as you don't lose it. It does mean that in the long run, Posts will stat-wise beat Chains without any further upgrades but then you have to contend with the fact you now have multiple cities to juggle between/defend. So it's all about how much risk you want to take about concentrated vs spread Industry.
Actually that brings me to my other question of is the Found City thing only able to pick sites on the same planet or can it pick other planets in the system?
You can do other planets in the system as well, you just need to nominate a valid city location on the system maps. I will mention that there are always three build sites per planet, and there is also a cap of three cities per planet as well.

Hmmm good to know but the big thing I want to know is if we build the Lycoris Sanctuary to boost our influence to 20 on New Helm would the planets in the same system get that 20 influence as well when we make a city there or is it only influence on New Helm?

Systems stats are cumulative, it's only going to be an issue when you have negative system stats after all the planets/cities are totaled up. Even then, some of them such as negative Resources won't be as big an issue so long as you have other systems to feed resources in.

So I have an idea for this Cycle. So I think we should put Dorothea and Radana on Develop City for New Helm to get up to 10 industry to get a new Chain Building slot open. While that is happening send Kat to build a new city on the frozen comet planet, now why we should do this is for two reasons with the first being that it will force the sister to either overextend and try to do the same with the other planet in the system, try to consolidate what she has and let us get one over her again (which with what we have seen of her is very unlikely), or try to go on a war footing (also unlikely but not impossible). The other reason is that taking the planet gets us more resources, money, and space that we can use to kickstart our military.

Looking at it we could probably put all three of our agents on making the city and rolls willing get it finished in one Cycle and have Violet do the industry increase for New Helm instead. Which we then can have the Three also focus down the Void Drydock in the new city and we may if we get lucky start production on The Wisteria-class Destroyers as early as three cycles from now with Violet working in the background to shore up her influence and maybe some more spying.

Any action that the sister takes should shed more light on her character that will allow us to predict what she will do next which is also why we should have Violet send spys again to confirm what she will do next or maybe infiltrate her military I'm not to sure what to pick for intrigue.

Also I like the idea that our military/war build up stuff that our characters/society thought we would be done with being made under a Eternal Winter Eclipse has a nice poetic feel to it. With the whole society being based around the Sun and Warmth having the tools of War made under an Eternally Eclipsed Sun and in the Cold sounds fucking awesome and a nice little poetic nod to the horrors of war.

Might be overthinking things though.

So I was trying to look up a name for the new city on the world we would put most of our military on if my plan won and this lead me to try to find one that would fit with the ideas of Knights, War, and a bit of evil but because I was searching up info about Knightmare Frames from Code Geass before this so I got a face full of Evil Empire at War that has Knight themes and decided after thinking a bit to name the first city the same name as Britannia's Capital. It also fits well with the whole knight history thing, if you go to the more historical figures like King Arthur, we're going with so I decided might as well.

I like the quest but I am a little confused. So helmsman build a reliquary wherever they settle. How many other planets do they control back near sol? Also they are reaching out to other settlements and there are at least 2 cities on different planets. How big was the colonization effort and how many people were brought along to this new system? Can we make a plan to scavenge the ships left in space we were not able to bring with us? Is there an asteroid belt we can set up some industry in? Maybe get an exploration ship out scouting the neighborhood. Sorry, came up with a bunch of questions.

Okay, there's a few questions here, let me break them down.
How many other planets do they control back near sol?
House Sol is the only one who controls the direct systems around Sol, the birthplace of humanity. House Iris and the Helmsmen have never dared come that close.
Also they are reaching out to other settlements and there are at least 2 cities on different planets. How big was the colonization effort and how many people were brought along to this new system?
It was a pretty sizable effort, but the difference is that outside the cities, people tend to live just wherever they want in smaller settlements. However, cities are where concentrated industry actually occur and require suitable building conditions to do so. There are only two cities currently in the Andernia system, and that's yours and your sister's.
Can we make a plan to scavenge the ships left in space we were not able to bring with us?
They've already been recycled or taken apart by scavengers.
Is there an asteroid belt we can set up some industry in?
There isn't one large enough for such development in this system.
Maybe get an exploration ship out scouting the neighborhood.
Exploration has sort of taken a backseat to the ongoing conflict between you and your sister. It's best if you keep your head down and avoid accidentally making contact with other powers, lest they take a very intrigued and vested interest in how this leadership conflict resolves.

Voting is opened, time to figure out what to do over the next cycle! A reminder that you are currently at your Chain cap in Andernia, so time to expand (aggressively) the factory.

So I have three plans. One that focuses on industry and prepping for void dockyards ASAP. One that is just general industry build-up with an intrigue action for military espionage cause we have an intrigue character so I thought hey should include one just in case and one with industry and starting to learn how to rearm. Decided on only 3 stewardship actions cause I thought 4 was too much.

This would probably be the way to go if we want to build the fleet port to house our military.

Also shamelessly stole the city name a location from @Parthan soooo thanks for that didn't really have an idea of where to do that.

I'm going to continue the campaign of upping our wealth pretty much as much as possible, at least until we've hit the max bonus. A float bonus to everything just continues to be good and the military expansion is going to cut into that wealth, so I'd rather compensate for it preemptively.

I also have a different name for the new city in mind. Yes, it plays towards the snow petals raining down from the frozen comet, but it is also referencing a kind of flower. That feels nicely on point.

Have just found this, spymaster who wants to be the Eminence in Shadow but is failing upwards into true leadership by actually having a heart and her friends poking her to cease being so silly about this.

Full speed ahead on showing up our sister by founding an entirely new city, expanding our current one, and building up a commercial spaceport all in one!

As a matter of total curiosity that has nothing to do with me picking up an old hobby I haven't done in a while, do people prefer the flower or solarium motif more? Particularly when it comes to actual aesthetic modeling....
