I hope we can get them to safety before deleting the ship, and even if people die it wont be many, so there's that! My hope is that we can Divide the monster ship's attention by firing low powered lasers. Like uh some of those laser in the FTL game where you fire and drag a laser across a ship. You know do surface level damage. Then we just keep moving away from it, and once the rescue team is done we apply generous amounts of nuclear warheads.

No reason why we can do both boarding and BOMBARDMENT right?

[X] Cripple and Boarding
-[X] Use some of your secondary and weaker armaments to evenly soften up the ship for you fighters, with the intent of not outright destroying the vessel. Send out a broadband message stating all personnel within the foreign vessel should move to the aft and away from the exterior of the ship and prepare for evac, and get some intel from them. Keep your distance.
-[X] Send fighters and evac team to start bombing the thickest collection of pitch black substance and destroy the weapons it's trying to form to hopefully delay it's encroach to the rear of the ship. Once their ships are close enough get some better scans of the exterior and interior of the ship, then have some of your pilots harass the sections slowly moving towards the aft.
-[X] Everyone be cautious of any of the space debris being tossed out of the ship
-[X] If anyone managed to reach the escape pods, now would be a good time to eject
-[X] PR-01 (prowess, ship related duty)
-[X] Sila Amanis (prowess, boarding duty)
-[X] Grachis Fal (martial, tactical general duty)
-[X] Ceriox (something, feed PR-01 intel duty old man)

Edit: Changed my plan, we can hopefully save some of those people aboard and then bomb the shit out of it.

Alright - this was a pretty excellent turn.

We're actually getting pretty close to finishing modernizing Cantara - we still need to build the Arcology, expand the Drydock into a proper Shipyard, and set up the planetary communications network, but once we've done those, we're gonna be just about out of low-hanging fruit.

Theoretically we could keep pushing incremental improvements with more subsidiary industrial zones and such, but I think that we'd be better served pivoting our focus to Dreioch - as we've seen, sapient capital is an enormous force multiplier, and having a unified polity across the Vareena starsystem will make it much easier to defend it from outside threats.

Beyond that, I think now is the time to get Prometheus's internal sensors back up and running. There's a lot of more subtle threats that might be festering in there, so now's the time to clear that out and make sure we don't get blindsided by a future infestation - before we have to deal with Orks or whatever.

[X] Cripple and Boarding

So long as we have enough fire power in encirclement to do the bombing, it's more than ok to board first.
Sure it is a pandora box, but it is also a great opportunity and given our MC Traits the 'ask question later' is very much anathemical to how we chosed so far.
So again. long term gain.
Also. wow, our people like to BUILD.

Having the Xakathri in our polity is likely to be really useful. Stuff we build down in the vents is going to be the next best thing to invasion-proof and perfectly hidden. Normally the cost to make such areas habitable would be prohibitive, but we don't need to modify anything, just send the tools and supplies down.

Do the dark elder even know they are down there? I don't think so, and if they do then they are obviously too much of a pain to get to for them to bother raids.

Hell, the vents are likely immune to even casual planetary bombardment. It's not like lance batteries are going to do much to several miles of water. They won't survive someone with exterminatus weapons, but they are going to be a LOT more resistant to anything short of that then even a fortified surface installation.

It will also likely expand the planets we can treat as habitable. There will undoubtedly be planets out there with bad surface conditions but once you get down into the ocean vents they are all similar. The volcanic vents of a frozen planet are similar to the volcanic vents of a world with a 150 f surface temperature.
