Gundam SEED Rebuild - Time Travel Fix-it Quest

Anyway it's clear we're not re-railing this conversation and I can't countenance a leading plan where we don't try to save as many randos on Heliopolis as possible, so here's what I think we should do:

[X] Plan: A Lioness Protects - Archangel Route
-[X] Incomplete Natural-use OS: A very incomplete OS, but still better than the heap of spaghetti that the OMNI Enforcer is using. [Piloting Malus with no Natural OS changed from -10 to -7 when booted into a mobile suit]
-[X] Body Armor: Slightly more protected. But noticeable to a trained eye. [Martial +0.5; Intrigue -0.5. Temporary.]
-[X] Handgun(s): Suitable for concealed carry. Still noticeable to a trained eye. [Martial +1; Intrigue -1. Temporary. Two Maximum.]
-[X] Professor Katō's Laboratory: This was where they met in the first timeline. Also conveniently close to the Earth Alliance Industrial Sector. [Potential confrontation. May encounter difficult DCs and VCs (versus checks).]

-[X] Alert the Port - Terrorist Attack Warning from an Athha: She can try to warn them, and try to leverage her family name for credibility. Hopefully it will not backfire. [Affects Narrative.]

Here's the plan: we use our position as "princess" to save as many civvies as possible. We come armed and ready to assist Kira in not dying. We get ready to hop aboard the Alliance warmachine or the Sahhakus' black project depend on which we'd rather have access to. We assert our agency over the vagaries of reality with the power of Karening and this gun we found.

I kind of have to disagree that Zafts escalated pre space laser. The N jammers may have caused the energy crisis but what were they supposed to do when the alliance refused to deal with those responsible nor promised not to use nukes anymore. They needed a way to take those off the board or have to deal with the threat of continuous nukes.

They didn't even jump to N jammers until the Alliance spread that the bloody Valentine incident was a false flag by the plants.

The space laser only happened at the very end of Seed destiny. It seemed like it was just to make Zafts evil when before this point they were in the right. Without this the idol singer and Space Jesus would be full of hot air.

Edit: just one guy and a small faction vs the entire leadership full of eco terrorists and zealots. Which is easier to clean up.
That's Neo Genesis, not the original Genesis. Patrick Zala(Athrun's dad) wanted to basically destroy the Earth and that was the last battle, the justice self destructed to destroy it.

[X] Plan: A Lioness Protects - Astray Route

Sigh, let us go with the road untravelled, and ruin Shahakus Day :drevil:

Heres hoping thinhs work out for Kira and Murrue...

Because if Kira hadnt chased after Cagalli, odds are he would have boarded a pod with his friends, and Murrue has nothing to make Athrun hesitate from KNIFE due to risty's death...unless we do the Gundam jacking early enough that we get to morgenrate just as athrun and rusty get there

Really dunno about the Astray route.

Without Kira to pilot the Strike, it probably gets blown up or stolen. If Murrue survives the shootout, she'll try to pilot it and inevitably lose against Miguel. In her best case, if he can't get past the Phase Shift Armor to blow it up, he'll probably just grab the whole suit and carry it away with Ramius still inside and then cut her out of the cockpit later once it runs out of battery. In her worst case, he'll just blow it up.

For that not to happen, Cagalli would have to make it to the fight in one of the Astrays, but that would need her to bully her way through Sahaku quickly enough. That's a very tight window. She won't even be able to start arguing for it properly until stuff starts getting blown up, because it's only then when things will get urgent enough for Sahaku to listen. And even if she makes it, Athrun would still fly off in the Aegis.

On the other hand, going for the Strike and Aegis still leaves time afterwards for Cagalli to pop down to the Astray labs and bully Sahaku into deploying the Astrays after fighting off Miguel, before Le Creuset sends him back to attack.

In fact, it works even better when Cagalli already has a mobile suit that she can show up in and threaten to flatten the lab with if he doesn't put up and shut up.

Well, I proposed both since the key thing for me is getting a warning out and getting ourselves in a place we can put a thumb on the scales of destiny. Whether we do that by sticking to the Alliance or stealing persuading everyone it's in our best interests to take the Astray prototypes doesn't matter, I just think we should do one or the other. And not leave thousands of Orb civilians to die if we can help it.

The people at the port are the only ones who "might" get saved compared to canon, by calling in about an attack on the port. Everyone else within the wider colony is still going to get caught in the crossfire when ZAFT comes in to steal the suits.

The only way to make it safer for those people than in canon is by somehow getting the colony-wide evacuation alarm triggered early, before ZAFT breaks into the colony proper. Tipping off an attack on the port won't do that. She'd need to claim an attack on the whole colony, or at least on interior facilities. And then it wouldn't be the port she'd need to call, but whoever is in charge of Heliopolis security as a whole.

After that, it's down to stopping Le Creuset's squad from blowing up the colony's supporting infrastructure, but I assume we plan to try doing that anyway regardless.

If we want to make massive changes to canon we have to take risks. It's the primary reason I go for the Astray change. The secondary reason is to hopefully get the MC in a better position with a mobile suit that can't be claimed by the alliance.

We also can't assume things will go the same way due to our previous minor changes and if we decide to go with Kira instead of being shoved into the shelters like canon.

Edit: I don't think the original archangel crew will be saved from an anonymous tip. It depends on how seriously they take it. My hopes is they send a message out of colony about it. Maybe start evacuation early.

Personally, I am keen on stealing the Aegis and Awakening Athrun, but in order for the opportunity to come up, Cagalli has to be at the factory at that time. The Astrays will still be there if we wait, the Aegis won't.

The Alliance having claim to the suit didn't stop Athrun flying off with it. Practically-speaking, they can't really stop Cagalli from doing the same either. Though pratically-speaking, if the concern is keeping the G-Weapons out of Blue Cosmos' hands, the best thing for her to do might be to agree the EA owns it - and then, after extracting all the data she can from it, ship those suits out to Artemis.

Blue Cosmos can fight the Eurasian Federation internally over it all they like. Garcia is going to latch onto those suits like a dog with a bone, you know the man wouldn't let them go back to the Atlantic Federation if he could help it. Meanwhile, Orb's Astray development can proceed full steam ahead while Azrael will spend months trying to pry the suits away from Garcia.

I think we'll have to bug out to either an Alliance base/ship and talk very, very fast, or another Orb facility and talk perhaps even faster, regardless of whether we get our hands on a mobile suit or not. They're simply not long-range craft in this universe.

Or we could use whatever fucking Geomancy canon Cagalli used to teleport to North Africa, I guess. I think that's going to be a stop we want to do anyway so we can tell Andy that, regardless of his wrong opinions about kebab, we're gonna cut him a deal.

*looks at Freedom doing L1 to Earth like its nothing* how far is long range for you? Granted thats with a nuclear reactor.

Where would we go after stealing the mobile suit? It's not like we're Athrun and have a ship on standby that van pick us up.
Absolutely nowhere, actually. Heliopolis is Orb territory. The Earth Alliance can't just send troops in to grab the suit by force if Cagalli decides to sit on it within the colony, that would be an invasion.

I mean, they could try, but they don't have any Strike Daggers or second-generation GATXs to hand their druggies, they're not ready to pick a fight with Orb. They would have to negotiate the old-fashioned way to get those G-Weapons out of Heliopolis and that would give Cagalli a(nother) chance to argue with Uzumi over it. And then Sahaku, of all people, would probably back her if she wanted to sit on those Gundams.

At the minimum, Cagalli could probably get a nice exchange deal going with the Earth Alliance for agreeing to hand over the G-Weapons, like a ton of "reparation funds" to compensate for the damage with Heliopolis and possibly more stuff under the counter. And/or could arrange for them to be "handed back" to the Eurasian Federation, who will likely sit on them for until they've extracted enough data to get their Hyperion Gundam project going. Or even try to play both sides and tip off ZAFT about the handoff and have the Earth Alliance immediately lose the machines shortly after getting them back.

Plenty of options.

Do we don a fancy mask and get all philosophical and affably evil too?

Because that sounds like Gundam Masked man level trolling
