What we need now is firm, decisive leadership. A crisis may arise from this, but it'll be one that helps clarify the presidential succession protocol and the lines of national leadership during times of emergency, so that's all to the good.

We have some perps that we can throw to the wolves, hopefully pacifying them a bit, so getting the army in order is the next most important thing, and this is the option that doesn't cause problems later.

We can't overreach and cause problems later on so assuming the full duties of the President right now isn't something I like. Better to get in contact with the military and ensure we know what the other is doing laying the groundwork for actually running the country. We need to build the foundation and clean house before we can take full control.

Hopefully we can give the freed slaves and white tenant farmers land as to destroy Slave power in the south when we get the opportunity to do reconstruction
