A CUP OF CHAI PART 2
Estela Marta Dolores Oliva Gallego always considered herself as a average woman. Growing up her older sisters were prettier, smarter, more talented, more popular, more everything. She did not mind that, the backhand compliments from family members, the inquiries from her teachers about why she was not like her sisters, being ignored by the boys. She had her small group of friends, her collection of model figures she built up and her boxing. Her father's family was descended from a long line of boxers ever since the 20th Century, every generation produced it's share of local and state Champions, a few even competed in the Olympics. Her father had competed while in the Militia years ago and believed that his daughters should continue the tradition. Only Estela expressed an interest and both her and her father formed a close bond during the years training.
Organized Sports in the colonies where a makeshift affair and many people were hesitant about women's sports. Despite the President's approval and resources there were many who would not give space or time to women's events. Estela would visit offices, encourage girls and women to train and compete but it was a hard path. She took up a job at ChaquitaChili to earn some extra money and Puja gave her a free meal. She focused on her training so washing dishes, cleaning floors and all the various minor jobs were easy with her strength. She did not expect to meet someone like Damla. Damla was smart, beautiful, funny and had a demeanor that made everyone at ease. She reminded Estela of her sisters and having someone like Lakshman always around made Estela keep away.
Until yesterday, Estela was cleaning the floors and changing the trash like her usual routine. Damla was taking orders and money and Lakshman was making chai and coffee. There was an angry customer who was raising his voice demanding a free coffee because it was made wrong. Lakshman already remade the coffee once and Damla was holding firm saying there was no refunds. Estela was keeping an eye on the customer and watched as he pulled his arm back to throw the steaming hot cup at Damla. That was when Estela responded. Suddenly the 156 cm, 49 kg women leapt and grabbed the man's arm by the wrist. He was startled and tried to move his arm but Estela had him in a iron grip. "Now, SIR, the lady advised you that there is no refunds and even had your coffee remade. You have two options. The first is you can apologize for your behavior, take your coffee and leave. The second is that I make you wear the coffee and call the police that you tried to assault a women with a hot liquid. The security footage will confirm my story. Choose NOW."
The man relaxed and mumbled some apology. Puja raced out and told the man he was banned from coming back. As he left Damla raced out and hugged Estela. People cheered and Lakshman slapped her back. All Estela could do was blush from her head to her toes.
