[Battletech] A Life Worth Living For

In an attempt to fish for even more Omake ideas is there any smaller corporate/cooperative entities that exist at this point of the quest you're willing to mention that may have juicy but much smaller scale side projects an Omake could write about?
No. You've been on-planet for...a year, tops. You got the basics, but that's it. You can make up a just-starting tiny business though! Just keep in mind that 90% of all things are pre-made and from earth, and most things are just now being created on-planet.

But for those who do want to read about furries, you can check out my other quest: That Time I Became A Dictator Of A Small Asian Communist Nation, also know as [North Korean Femboi Hooters Mecha Developmentalism Simulator]. We have just gotten the Wolfsmenschen (Lupus singular, Lupi plural) from the German lab, and united North Africa and the Middle East under Communism and Advanced Electronics.

Here's a picture of the good bois just after getting out the lab in the late 70s:

We also have Mechs:

All-Terrain Self-Propelled Rocket Platform of the European Defense Pact (EDP) - Weberknecht

The Monarch - JSDF Gen1 Mecha

Vertically Integrated Propulsion Raider - VIPR - Gen1 US Mech
First Version:

Second Version:
Final Version:

The Iron Tiger - Gen1 Guangchou Mech

Also also. While it takes the longest to take effect, it has flat out the highest possible long term benefits.
Just keep in mind that the "takes the longest to get started" bit isn't likely to be just flavor text. We already took the industrial option that specified that it would slow down development for greater rewards later, and this would slow it down even further.

By the time it takes us to reach the point where we could start up our new factories other systems could have had their industrial base running at full tilt for a while to feed the growth of their industry. And we were at the tail end of the first diaspora from Earth, so even if we could start right now there are systems that have decades, if not more, of a lead over us when it comes to building up their industrial base.

Noted. Time to follow the age old dynasty path of development which is plant a small seed and watch it gradually grow as the years pass until it upgrades from insignificant to hopefully classifiable as barely notable! Maybe the tiny business can get there before the Age of War ends? In the interest of exploring the process of creating a business at this stage of the nation's development is there any details i should include besides the assumed small mountain of paperwork the owner would need to do and the potential requirement to work on any land claimed after being approved?

Application Process for land claiming:
Person: "MINE! HERE'S LOCATION!"
Government Clerk "Here's the boundaries. Begin construction within the month. If unused for more than 30 days, it's ours again. Sign here. Thank you. Good luck."

Application Process for business creation;
Person: "HERE'S NAME. HERE'S LOCATION."

So do we use this to create a company?

I am still silently seething that you didn't pick Genetic Cybernetic Cosmetic or the 5-Year Plan: Copyright Infringement choices, as their disasters would've allowed me to write catbois, foxbois, and etc. into your world. :V

And before you ask, yes, they are canon, alongside mermaids and centaurs. (*******mostly as cyborgs in the Magistracy of Canopus, but gene-versions exist too. Or exist-ed.)

An unexpected meeting - (Server Space Required)
An unexpected meeting

Veda sighed through her respirator and spoke up, raising her voice to be heard above the din of construction equipment and cranes.

"How long will this set us back, Nilam?"

The foreman shrugged, sympathy clear in his eyes as he pulled something up on his PDA.

"Your project is calling for more server equipment than the company sent on the entire expedition, Miss Anaand. If we're lucky, we can buy some more in a few months-if we're unlucky, we're going to have to wait years until local manufacturing can pick up the tab."

He flipped the PDA around and pointed to it, and Veda peered at the screen. Her annoyance grew as she ran through the numbers; they didn't even have a quarter of the server capacity she needed to get started. She put a hand to her forehead and groaned, her next words coming out low and tempered.

"Can you at least finish the building on time?"

"That's the easy part, miss. Even the fiber optic isn't an issue."

She chuckled dryly, her voice softer this time.

"Well, that's something of a relief. Thank you for your time, Nilam."

The stout man gave her a casual nod and wave before walking off, already belting out orders to his men. Veda stood there for a few seconds, looking down at the ground and thinking, before she was interrupted by the crunching of boots on gravel, and a metallic tapping sound.

"Ma'am, someone's…here to see you."

She paid no mind to the confusion in her guard's voice as she turned around to look at them, her annoyance spiking again at the intrusion.

"I didn't have anyone planned for another two hours, what is it?"

Her eyebrows raised when she saw the man standing next to her guard. He was European, maybe Slavic, with combed-over brown hair and a soft face marred by only a small scar by his nose. His plain brown suit contrasted greatly with the construction site around them, and he leaned on a walking crutch with one arm. Veda gestured at him off-handedly.

"Should've picked up a mask at the entrance, the dust gets to you quick."

He smiled widely and confidently, something about the expression striking her in a way she couldn't quite place.

"I wear no mask."

He leaned forward suddenly, his hand darting out to hang in the air between them. Veda resisted the urge to lurch back, her own hands hanging at her side. After a very quick moment he continued.

"My name is Nikolai Nyugen. I've heard you're working on something revolutionary here, and I thought I'd…contribute."

She stared at him dubiously, noting his heavy Russian accent and distinctly non-Asian appearance, but waved off her guard when she saw him reaching for the man's shoulder; something in the back of her mind was telling her to hear him through. She reached out to shake his outstretched hand, his grip weaker than she expected.

"Make this quick, please. I have business to attend to."

Somehow, his smile widened as he let go of her hand and shrugged off a blueprint tube from his shoulder. He presented it to her, a look of expectation and…something else in his eyes. She took it from his hand gingerly after he coaxed her with a nod.

"I do believe you'll be interested in what I have to offer your corporation. It's truly world changing."

Without warning he turned around and started to walk away, Veda too shocked to say anything. After a few steps he looked over his shoulder, that same strange look in his eyes.

"We'll find each other when you're ready."

With that, he limped away, the two watching him leave. After a few seconds Veda looked to her guard.

"Tail him to the parking lot, make sure he doesn't do anything."

"Right away ma'am."

He walked off after the man, the two disappearing into a cloud of dust kicked up by the nearby equipment. She stared in their direction for a while before looking down at the blueprint holder in her hands. Curiosity took a hold of her and she uncapped it, reaching in to feel only a single roll of paper. Holding it close to her body she started to unfurl it, protecting it as best as she could from the dust around her.

Her eyes furrowed in confusion at what was on the blueprint; a multitude of strange diagrams, notated in German. A small box at the corner read 'REPLIKA BIOKOMPONENTEN (VORSCHLAG)'. She stared at the diagrams for a few seconds, her eyes slowly widening as she realized what she was looking at.

REAKTOR-HERZMODUL.

FILTRATIONSVORRICHTUNG FÜR OXIDIERENDE FLÜSSIGKEITEN.

NÄHRSTOFFVERARBEITUNGSKOMPLEX.

They were organs, but unlike any she had seen before, and they bore decidedly unnatural formations. Her eyes finally drifted down to a sketch near the bottom of the page; a humanoid figure, the harsh lines of metal plating and mechanical components meshing with the smoothness of flesh to form a machine unlike any she had ever seen before. She breathed out in awe, but a thought suddenly pushed it's way past her intrigue:

Why didn't it have any feet?

A new life on a newly settled world - (HereTEA!)
A new life on a newly settled world

Sukhwinder Shaan couldn't believe his luck after taking the gamble to join a colonization expedition along with his family to forge a new life. They not only arrived successfully to the world that'll become home for his family but those fools on terra declared their proclamation that essentially was them giving up on the colonies that were too far away for efficient communication.

The bank he arranged a decently sized loan from to jump start his re-established business had no real hope of getting their money back due to the lack of contact. Who was he to look a gift horse in the mouth? They are probably already writing it off as one of many losses at this point if he had to guess.

Sukhwinder already had a good deal of material brought along in cargo that the loan plus some of his savings/money from sold assets paid for that he can use to build up an initial coffee farm and a shop to sell it. He was particularly thankful to his ancestors of two generations ago for investing into the creation of a particularly rugged coffee plant with a good deal of improved taste mixed in thanks to genetic engineering.

You see, Sukhwinder was from a family that had a relatively smaller scaled business that focused on producing coffee and some extra agricultural goods but due to a number of differing factors they failed to really expand with a large reason being the already established competition and what he sure was underhanded sabotage. Thankfully the company his family owned for a few generations now has managed to keep enough of an income to stay afloat partly thanks to the relatively unique taste of their coffee brand but there was no particularly prosperous future ahead for them on terra. They couldn't even fathom the idea of arranging a colonization expedition of their own as the budget was tight enough as is. There were a few attempts across generations to change the state of the company but none of them really panned out. Thankfully those attempts didn't cost them the business.

To have any hope for a truly prosperous future Sukhwinder decided to take a gamble on everything to hopefully gain much more later down the line. He arranged for the sale of his companies assets (while of course making sure his competition didn't manage to steal his company's coffee variant even if there are some different variants on the terran market that are kinda similar but not truly.) and arranged a decently sized loan from a local bank to boost the monetary resources he had access to for the endeavor. Sadly the costs to queue up the required cargo space on the expedition felt like it was the equivalent to an arm and a leg but he had just enough to afford his family's participation on the expedition plus the material to start a new business in his new home with the room for expansion in the cards. Admittedly it will be even smaller scale than Sukhwinder wanted as at this point the company may as well be a small scale family owned business when they arrived that only has a special coffee variant and some agricultural machines that'll help with cultivation plus the material for their planned starting farm and the shop itself but that should be enough. He was determined to make it enough.

His loving wife Maryam Shaan thankfully supported him fully with the plan. She knew things couldn't keep going as they were or eventually their competitors would finally land that killing blow they desired. Maryam wanted to leave something for their descendants that was greater than the legacy they received. Hopefully a future with much greater potential for prosperity would classify as that.

After the expedition arrived and his family managed to step foot on their world their next great challenge appeared. The first land rush of the planet was truly busy but thankfully he had some money set aside for bribery if needed but thankfully it didn't come to that. (You may realize by now but Sukhwinder Shaan was a generally grateful man.) After a bit of waiting in the long line and then the short negotiation with the official he was talking with, he got the land he needed. He got a good chunk on the outskirts of the developing capital city of the planet and a smaller claim within the area of the city where a number of small businesses were setting up. Once done he can finally relax a small bit but there was still work that needed to be done.

During the trip Sukhwinder had made a few deals with some of the less fortunate settlers for skilled labor and to help set things up. After his land was decided and formalized he quickly went through with the arrangements that resulted in work starting on setting up his land to eventually begin operations. Naturally he helped as well as he wasn't rich enough to consider or even afford laziness but his future was now going down the right path. He couldn't wait until the first harvest eventually came in and he could begin the next step of his business strategy.

Hopefully everything goes well so that when the time comes his sole daughter, Xalak Shaan, can inherit a solid foundation to grow the company from. The future truly looked bright for his family.

2nd Omake that focuses on the re-establishment of a family owned company on a new world. They have the product, but do they have the wits to see their family business prosper? Find out in the next episode of dragon ba- i mean the next omake on them suggesting one is done. I am not too happy as it didn't really focus on the process of settling and it glossed over some details but it is something that works nonetheless.

I can do 1k words for an omake in some random quest over several hours but I can't manage 200 words a day for my own quest btw

Surely there can only be one and to secure this world for the coffee Imperium we must show the unenlightened why coffee is superior through mortal combat.

I guess the character truly was a naive optimist in the end? Then again they may get a consolation prize with the research.

Anyways a part of me wants to write an omake about a determined mineral prospector who heads out on a legendary journey in search of mineral wealth immediately after landing. The question is should they find anything or instead should they ultimately fail like the fate some of the other prospectors may experience? There also the question on how much of the world was explored already. Are all the easy to access mineral reserves found already or is there still plenty of room to search?

he's the ADLR model's neural donor and his dialogue is meant to suggest he has otherworldly knowledge or is some sot of agent of chaos or the King in Yellow like Adler was ingame, so I'm a bit surprised it's considered canon lmao

You basically located the most accessible and largest deposits, the prospecting community will find a lot of things for centuries to come, just like IRL.
so I'm a bit surprised it's considered canon lmao
Hey, who am I to say no to cameo's? Not like he's the real deal, Battletech considers paranormal stuff non-canon extremis in the newer versions after all.
