"Are you even capable of accepting responsibility for your actions?" Idelle demands.

"Excuse me, but I did take responsibility for my actions," Amiti says, suddenly indignant. "I'm out here, aren't I? I would have gone after her even if no one else had helped me! No one even got hurt, that we know of, except for that elemental! And me." She gingerly touches her head again — her fingers come away dry, at least. It shouldn't be too serious a wound for an Exalt.

For your part, you quietly pull a particularly sharp stone out of your back, where it had embedded somewhere near the end of that fight. It hasn't gone in deep, however — not worth drawing attention to.

"It wouldn't have been here at all if you had any sense of restraint or decency!" Idelle's eyes quite literally blaze with the force of her anger, and Amiti flinches back.

"Idelle, we took care of it," L'nessa says, "yelling at Amiti won't help anxaything."

"Clearly not!" Idelle says. "If shouting at her did any good, she'd be a model daughter by this point in her life!" That, of all things, hits home, and Amiti shrinks in on herself.
Remember Idelle? Remember how Judgemental and bitchy she was? Thats pretty much what we are most likely to deal with when we run into the immaculate order. Let's put our faith in something thats never let ambraea down, spirits.

I don't think it's fair to assume that any given religious character Ambraea meets is going to be judgemental or bitchy or unhelpful, and I would caution you against this assumption. I like to give the Immaculate Order some actual nuance, which I feel reflects the current source material about them.

TBH Idelle was also more or less proven correct in being judgemental - Amiti is our friend, but she did summon a ghost she couldn't control and almost got people killed

Demons are cool.

It had only taken a few well placed comments about the simhata's grace and beauty, and how L'nessa had never ridden one before, for Teran to offer her the opportunity as if it had all been his idea. Glancing back to where he rides with L'nessa perched behind him, not doing anything untoward but certainly seemingly very cozy, you're quite certain that Teran knows what L'nessa is after, and that he's prepared to let her have it.

Do they have to be so blatant about it all, though?

Being heterosexual in public? How indecent.

Oh! I forgot before, I wanted to say that I really enjoyed the discussion of Maia's suitor this update. It got across the characters' perspective on arranged marriage really well. It's been touched on before, of course, but I really enjoyed how matter-of-fact it was here.

Not any given Religious Character, given that's a vast majority of the caste afterall depending on how you look at it.
While Teran had avoided petitioning the Immaculate Order for help directly, this particular monk is more concerned with the spiritual health of Echo Prefecture's peasantry than any artifacts you might be searching for, and you suspect your criminal god and her cult activity are linked — once you pool your information, she will make it much easier to find and pin down the spirit you're looking for. The monk in question will remember your cooperation, and so will the Order. There will be some slight awkwardness with the Prasadis.
Just members of the immaculate order specifically, given their stance on less than by the books spirit specialized sorceresses, Necromancy, and Prasadi Heretics. Ambraea has taken to ingratiating herself with those who tend to make the Immaculate Order distinctly on Edge. That said, you have a point about generalizing, so I'll try to keep a more open mind.

On the one hand, it'd be easier to avoid Immaculate oversight if we can avoid it. On the other hand, the main drawback it's likely to bring is having to smooth over doctrinal disputes with honoured guests from overseas who far outrank her (though I'm realizing on rereading that the monk isn't actually stated to be mortal, I just assumed that). That's probably less hassle than the fallout if getting mixed up in inter-god politicking proves messy - if the local god we're considering allying with has a problematic agenda then we're going to end up on the Immaculates' bad side regardless. (Demon summoning has a similar potential downside and will probably squick our traveling companions.) Meanwhile, banking some positive rep with the Order is a worthwhile move for Ambraea, both in general and as a spooky sorcerer.

I also don't see this as much resembling the situation with Idelle, given we weren't just dealing with religious shenanigans there, but also asking her to lie to cover up a serious error made by a classmate breaking the rules that endangered innocents. We're in nowhere close to as questionable a position here.

"Where would I be without your singular grace and dedication?" you ask her, very nearly smiling.

Peony keeps her eyes humbly downcast. What she says, though, is: "somewhere in the mountains still, I'm sure."

"She does," you agree, glancing at your servant. Then you frown. She's in the middle of stowing the travel box that she produced your jewelry from, staring into the mirror with a strange sort of expression. "Peony?" you ask.

As you turn back to the group, you briefly catch a glimpse of Teran glancing after Peony with a small frown on his lips. It's short-lived, however. He looks back to you, smiling again.

Hey Teran, you know, it's not very polite to not tell us when our maid is haunted. That's the sort of thing you should find an opportunity to bring up, you know, between cousins.

Idelle accused Amiti of summoning a murderous ghost.

Amiti summoned a murderous ghost.

I have no idea why anyone would assume that Amiti was in the right. She clearly wasn't. However, Amiti is one of Ambraea's friends, and Ambraea is ride or die with her people. So we helped cover up our friend's dangerous mistake, and we're hoping that she doesn't do something worse in the future.

Is Peony sick maybe? Feels like a warning but there's no option to actually investigate. Quest paranoia intensifies. Still, glad L'nessa's inclusion seems to be paying off both in efficacy and entertainment

...hmm well with that in mind, I still want to feed Idelle to Diamond Cut Perfection for all the hurtful things she said.
She was in the right that the problem was delt with. Really, initiates become spirit chow every year without it being of assistance to Amiti's research.

Idelle made a fuss about a bit of rule breaking(like it doesn't happen with a third of the initiates in the heptagram) and now instead of having justification for keeping a much closer eye on Amiti and keeping her in check, and instead she has a gap in her memories her attentions have switched to Ambraea, where the most suspicious thing she'll be seeing is Ambraea suddenly vanishing with no explanation.
