A Flame of Hope in the Grim Darkness (A 40k/Multicross Quest)

I really think that Mass Effect is one of the weakest possible factions we could choose. Their ships simply don't measure up, their infantry doesn't really rate on the scale of 40k's heavy hitters, though they are decently better than the average. And all of the tech they bring to the table can have its equal or better acquired elsewhere.
Yeah Mass Effect 100% has no business being on this list, they are weak as fuck, people are picking em cause they're one of the more familiar(or favorite) factions on the list, despite the fact that taking on 40K and winning isn't gonna be achieved by Commander Shepard(or Master Chief for that matter) pulling a epic victory royale out of their hero asses for everyone, its gonna be achieved by collectively pooling all the factions strengths(which as you and others have pointed out Mass Effect is simply the weakest on the list on this matter) together and enduring the grueling fight ahead against the grim darkness
I don't necessarily disagree that the Citadel Council is one of the technologically weaker factions on the list. However, they do have something many of the other factions on this list don't: Substantial experience in living peacefully with multiple alien species.

Sure, the United Federation of Planets' technology blows them out of the water, but they can sometimes get tripped up by their relative focus on ideals vs pragmatism, amd their military doctrine and techniques leave a lot to be desired. The Citadel Council doesn't have that problem.

To be sure, I am NOT saying the Citadel Council is perfect in some way, they definitely arent, but their cultural and instituional strengths also count for something.

Im not saying it doesn't either, but how useful is lots of experience with inter-species cooperation and living gonna be in 40k out of all places? sure i can see it being useful with all the minor xeno species that are around(but it is NOT gonna work with any major species like the Eldar or fucking Necrons), other than that its not a particulary good advantage to have compared to technology, and for humanity even if they don't have the inter-species advantage Union's still the best faction in my opinion for lifting 40k humanity out of its shitpit(which includes its rampant xenophobia) for the reasons i mentioned earlier

[X] New United Nations (Macross)
[X] The Kushan (Homeworld)
[X] Alliance of Sol (Destiny)
[X] Chaldea Security Organization (Fate/Grand Order)
[X] Androidkind Compact (Nier: Automata)

Doesn't the New Rebuplic have that too?
Sure, and their technology is definitely more powerful overall. On the other hand, my impression of Galactic civilization is that they have been...reletavily technologically stagnant, when considering how long they've been spacefaring. There are exceptions of course, but most of their efforts appear more focused on refining the technologies they already have.

Hmm, although, I suppose maybe the Citadel Council has a similar problem, considering how they've been railroaded onto Eezo tech. *shrugs*

EDIT: Going off Mass Effect Andromeda, the Remnant civilization (or at least its leftovers) has demonstrated some pretty crazy-advanced capabilities with eezo tech, such as various megastructures and interstellar networked terraforming systems, heights that the Citadel Council could theoretically reach given time and motivation.

Mass Effect has a lot of tech that can pad out our other options.

Handheld computers in the form of Omni-Tools.

Medi-Gel could blend well with things like bacta, or Kolto if we have that.

The Combat mechs can be customized with Remnant tech or Star Wars tech, to pad out security or military forces.

Biotics is basically manipulation of Dark Energy and gravity, which would be of help in various skirmishes and engagements. Biotics would also be another useful mind power aside from the Force or Light/Darkness.

We also have decently powerful and stable AI. AI that can help act as minders for the more powerful AI in the UNSC or StarWars, aside from the likes of Rasputin, who is in a whole other league.

The FTL method of Mass effect is another method of Faster Than Light travel compared to the others, so a redundant/back up method is useful.

If we can MAKE Mass Relays, we have a near instantaneous method of FTL on our hands. On top of that, if push comes to shove, a mass relay can be used as an improvised explosive against something nasty like a Tyranid hivefleet, an imperial Battle Fleet, an ork Fleet, etc. Though, I would advise against that.

Mass Effect also stacks with Star Wars and Destiny, more species on our side. More Soldiers and scientists, etc.

Though, I have to wonder....would Starship Troopers or Dune be acceptable for this quest?

So what Im getting right now is that at least two of the factions that are guaranteed to be coming in given how many are voting for them are FGO and Destiny. Im fine with that since each one is a metaphysical heavy hitter that we will need to quell Chaos, so having both is is very nice. That just gives us 3 more Factions to make up our primary tech base that we need to deal with the Materium. The current runner ups seem to be Macross, Nier, Homeworld, and Halo. Anyone want to chip in to which to vote for?

Thanks for that

I still got a free slot on my stuff so i can still fit homeworld

Anither good thing star trek can iffer is diolomacy that while not as flashy with so many different factions is necesary

On halo,i also really like slip space as FTL
Their travel is what i would call "jump to jump" aka,you can begin from any point and travel to other without needing special infrastructure

Sure it begins slow, buy post covenant war is like 3 times faster than imperial warp drives and neural physics offer interesting megastructures plans

Definitely Homeworld. Their version of the Santa Claus machine cranks out complete ships from raw asteroid.

Others we can mix and match for combat capability, but we need Homeworld for the logistical backbone.

EDIT:The Kushan's research, development and design pipeline is ridiculously fast, too--they reinvented their universe's version of a complete fleet in less than a year while reduced to one Mothership's crew. They had help and captured examples to reverse-engineer from, but still.

EDIT:Gonna add my vote real quick:
[X]The Kushan (Homeworld)
[X] Union (Lancer)
[X}United Federation of Planets(Star Trek)
[X] Androidkind Compact (Nier: Automata)

Homeworld
Fgo
Destiny

We still got space

Personally i really want starwars only because of the force

Is one of those things thst works as a hard counter to chaos influence

And halo because slip space and neural physics

Erm...Neural physics isn't something the UNSC is going to be able to use. Even the Forerunners at their very height were barely able to scratch the surface of that layer of reality.

I'm not familiar with the original Starship Troopers, and the movie version is way too authoritarian (not to mention silly). As for Dune, their culture would not mesh well with everyone else, being highly feudalistic and stratified, and also very opposed to AI.

There is the animated duology, Invasion and Traitor of Mars. Or the Anime, or the old animated series "Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles"

As for Dune....Yeah, you have a point.

There are other SciFi franchises, be they video game, tabletop, Tv, etc. Transformers for example.

Also another thing i would lile about halo is their mind uploads AI

They could be really useful if stabilized by rasputin

[X] The Kushan (Homeworld)

[X] New United Nations (Macross)

This seem the best combination for me

Also the androids meeting so many variants of mankind wilo be fun

Halo isn't unique in that regard, everyone in the main faction list besides the Union has FTL drives, and speeds are going to be nerfed for the sake of gameplay balance. The UNSC doesn't even have the fastest FTL of the choices here.

For Macross I've seen their speeds estimated upwards of 1242 lightyears... per hour.

For fighters.

@BobTheNinja I have a handful of questions in regards to Destiny which I hope aren't too demanding, in regards to how you will be handling the creation of new Lightbearers in the 40K universe. First of all is it going to happen, if so how many Ghosts will the Traveler be able to create and how often, and finally how far out are Ghosts likely to range in search of their Guardians?

Its occurred to me that if Ghosts are not limiting themselves to searching for their partners in Commonwealth territory, then it's possible they will raise folk on Imperium held worlds and given newly risen Lightbears have no preexisting ties to anyone and between them and their Ghosts the Guardians tend to be the ones with the final say, I'm concerned they might be convinced by the folk around them to side with the Imperium.

I have another two ideas in mind: Metroid and Doom. Galactic Federation Tech provides a lot of advanced tech, like power armor or plasma weaponry for example. The AUs (Aurora Units) can provide a lot of interesting support. We could also get Space Pirate or Chozo tech. We could also get Samus.

As for Doom.....Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. UAC tech is potent, along with ARC (Armored Response Coalition) provides mech units. There is also the possibility of reinforcements from Argent D'nur, along with potentially crossing over with Quake.

The Traveler is active again, however the lore I've been able to look up indicates that the creation of the Ghosts as a whole was a one time deal, no more are being made. The Traveler still has that chunk of its lower shell missing even in its active state, so my ruling is that it is not capable of producing new rounds of Ghosts right now. This MAY change in the future, dependong how things develop.

HOWEVER, the Great Recruitment for this quest brings back souls lost since the start of the Red War, meaning that all of those Ghosts and Guardians who died final deaths then are now back in play...come to think of it, this means that Sagira is back too, meaning that Osiris is now back in Lightbearer business too (hooray for you all).

In any case, no new Ghosts are being made, but you would still have a huge reserve of them, likely thousands if not many thousands of them (I haven't yet checked for numbers). I don't believe that they can venture beyond a star system by themselves, so the only time they would be making New Lights from deceased Imperials is if coalition forces have already established a presence nearby.

How would the force interact with the warp and its entities?

I'm hesitant to dive too deep into deciding the exact interactions that would take place, since we don't know if the Galactic Alliance will make it into the final lineup, but I can tell you that most decently-strong Force Sensitives are going to have a miserable time starting out. All the malevolence and suffering churning about in the Warp? They would *feel* that shit constantly, and would probably need to devise techniques to ward their minds against it.
